The hotel is like those old British properties.. in the hills. Wooden flooring, quiet, calm, beautiful. The hotel queen rooms are worth the extra money. Super spacious and lovely balcony views. The food is amazing too. The restaurant serves some amazing momos, sizzlers, pastas, etc. There is a lovely lawn to walk in and the bar over looks that. There’s a deck from the views are amazing and one can chill with a cuppa or a drink. The staff is warm and very helpful. Thumbs up!

Out of my multiple trips to Shillong, once I was lucky enough to preplan a stay at Tripura Castle, the heritage hotel of Shillong. Located a bit offbeat, is a excellent stay option if you have your own convience. There are are two establishments of the property that are turned into a hotel now. Owned and operated by the royal family of Tripura, the glamorous hotel boasts of it's heritage in every inch of the property. It was the last day on November when we drove into this magnificent property from Guwahati. Located at almost a hill top, you need to cross the entire city traffic of Shillong to reach here. The palace turned hotel has a Heritage Wing, Valley View Wing and a Forest Wing. Except the heritage wing, other names may be misleading as there is no as such sprawling valley or a forest that is attached to the other wings. However, all these have a separate charm. We were put up in Heritage Wing but chanced to visit the live performance in the chilling November night at the Valley View... The chill, the bonfire, the live English classics, the wine will transport you to a different era altogether. The salient features worth mention:- 1. All the wings have a separate fan base, though I would stick to the Heritage Wing if I get a chance to revisit. 2. Breakfast is served at Valley View Wing, u need your own vehicle/ golfcart to reach it. 3. The breakfast spread is appreciable and sprawling like the property itself. 4. Live music in the evening is an intoxication in itself. 5. The property is off the husltles and bustles of Shillong. 6. You must have own vehicle to reach them, otherwise you may need to sell your kidney to reach the city sightseeings. 7. Just like the city, the property doesn't have any particular view of boast of. 8. The famous Dylan's Cafe is just 4-5 minutes drive from the hotel. If you want a stay in Old English Charm, do stay here for atleast a night if you come to Shillong. Value of money- 4/5 Experience- 5/5 Hence, recommended.
