The first time I stayed at Glidden House was last summer when my boyfriend had a procedure at Cleveland Clinic. We really enjoyed our stay. Then he was in ICU recently and I wanted to stay in a safe, familiar place so I booked a room again. The ambiance of this place is lovely. The staff so friendly and helpful. It's clean and comfortable. Truly the only complaint is that I wish the toilet paper was a better grade. Their breakfast is palatable and anytime I am in Cleveland for the clinic, this is the place I would stay. Tony the bartender and Clint the front desk clerk are outstanding. And they give a military/AARP discount.

This is a overrated and over priced two star place, probably not ever a two star. 1. Pictures are highly deceptive. Our room did NOT look like what’s in the picture at all. It’s super small and everything is extremely outdated, missing pieces on furniture, falling wallpaper. The bathroom is DISGUSTING. I wonder if they ever cleaned it, the shower curtain has a strong odder that lingers. Bathtub drain is clogged pretty bad too, I had to stop the water every 2-3 minutes while I was in there so that the water could have a chance to go down. 2. The wall is paper thin, you can hear everything from your neighbor and people on the hallway very clearly. 3. The AC unit in the room is the loudest I have ever seen, like a plane taking off! It’s impossible to sleep with it on at night, but they only give you a thin blanket, so it gets cold without heat at night. 4. There was no housekeeping “because of COVID”, per the staff, but they had no problem having large crowds gathering in the lobby. 5. Parking is a trick. At check-in, the front desk staff made it sounds like parking is complimentary, but it is not. There are plenty of street parking right outside the building that are free overnight, not really worth parking with them if you are not around during the day. This place advertises itself as “historic and boutique”. That shouldn’t translate to “room is rundown”. There are plenty hotels that position themselves the same way but are able to maintain the authenticity/historical vibe and offer great services and amenities at the same time.

Nice hotel in a great area for exploring museums, the Botanical garden (right across the street). Rooms are a nice size, clean and the bed was Super comfy. The breakfast was good, considering the whole Covid Crackdown going on. Staff were really nice and accommodating. There are no refrigerators/ microwave in the room. Would definitely stay again.

There is a lot to like about Glidden House. Locatio is nearly unbeatable: on Case Western campus, across the street from Botanical Garden and Art Museum, 10 minute walk to restaurants in Italian Village, 15 minute drive to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, although bed was the highest I've ever seen (my 5'-2" wife had to jump to get onto it). Breakfast was so-so -- an upgraded version of the prepackaged "hot breakfast" you get at lower=priced motels. Covid precautions were the one deficiency (and thus 4 rather than 5 stars). Sign at the Front Desk said rooms would not have housekeeping for the duration of our stay in order to protect staff (a common sight these days), but not a single housekeeping employee was wearing a mask at any time during our stay. Ditto for Front Desk (though they had a plexiglass divider), man putting out breakfast, or the bartender. Guests, on the other hand, were largely complying with the (limp-wristed) Cuyahoga County mask "advisory" (not mandate). Shameful.

This is the second time we have stayed at Glidden House. When we arrived after a day in the car, it was so pleasant to have James, Glidden's concierge, come out and greet us, offer to help with our luggage, and give us tips on things to see and do. We stayed in a King room on the second floor and the bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was quiet. We slept very well. We were disappointed to find that because of Covid the excellent breakfasts we had on our first stay had to be pared back. I love all the artwork in the hallways and how fresh everything smells. Front desk staff and the bartender were all genuinely friendly. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in Cleveland.
