I stayed here last night on my huge roadtrip from Darwin to Brisbane. This was night no 4 for me of the 3000km drive. And let me tell you, this hotel is worth 5 stars! An absolutely beautiful spot to stay. The bed was soooo warm and comfortable! I will definitely stay here the next time I made a trip inland. I’d love to explore this cute little town. The staff were so lovely and I felt I was being looked after by family. Dinner in the restaurant was perfect!

We had a couple of nights at the Overlander Homestead Motel and we cannot speak highly enough about our experience. The owners Amanda and Charles are so well suited to their profession of providing accommodation and making people on a holiday feel joyful, relaxed and safe. The Beds: Absolutely perfect. King Size. Spotless. The bathroom: Beautiful. No mould anywhere, and in perfect condition. Very good water pressure in the shower. Nice big towels. Everything so clean. The Furniture in the Room: Very appropriate for the location, solid timber, thoughtful selection of furniture. Lovely sliding door that you can open and sit just outside your room and have a drink, whilst watching little birds fly around, Willy Wag Tails I believe. You are given your own little table and chairs outside your room. It is so peaceful and nice to sit and have a drink and relax before going to dinner. There is a fridge in your room and other amenities. You can also have breakfast delivered if you wish. The Restaurant at the Motel: This restaurant exceeded our expectation. The food was amazing. It was so tasty and very generous in the proportions. It had a lovely ambience and you really felt like you were being looked after and welcomed. Amanda, the owner of the Motel also happened to be in the restaurant on the night we had dinner and came over to say hello. She is so well suited to her job and a real pleasure to talk to. Parking: You can park at the rear right outside your room. It is very secure and safe. Check-Out: This was easy, and it was sad to leave. We had the pleasure of meeting Amanda's little dogs that are so polite and well behaved, we took photos and patted them. They are so well looked after and loved and it all made sense to us. Amanda has such a kind heart, and this was evident in the care and love she displays to these little dogs that you never hear a peep out of. At the time of checkout, we asked her what her name is, and she said Amanda. We wanted to know so we could actually use names in this review. Why choose this Motel: We don't often give 5 stars for a motel or a hotel. However, the Overlander Homestead Motel in Roma is Perfection and a real credit to the owners. Charles took our booking initially and Amanda checked us in and out. We also booked the restaurant at the time of making our booking. Amanda and Charles are a great team and we were thrilled that in Roma, we could find such high standard accommodation. We spent alot of time researching where to stay, and are so pleased we made the right choice. To have a nice relaxing drink outside your room on the lawn and well kept garden, then to be able to walk into such a beautiful restaurant and then walk back to your room, was fabulous.

I made a booking though Expedia, I travel a lot and I find Expedia to be quick and simple, I am an Expedia VIP with gold status and I have a large number of points accumulated. I like to use Expedia for a number of reasons, however if is sometimes apparent that the owners and/or managers are less than impressed with Expedia bookings by the room style or location you are given. If it just somewhere to put ones head down for a night so be it. On this occasion however the owner/manager went to great lengths to tell how hard done by he was and that he got less money that from a direct booking, how he had to go through 3 different servers to Switzerland to get paid and what a big problem it was for him. After a 9 hour drive I couldn’t really care less, I just wanted to get to the room. So when I get an email from Expedia asking for feedback on my check in experience I was honest and said it was less that ideal and that the proprietor had a real issue with the third party provider. Unfortunately we somehow managed to accidentally take the room key with us so when I had a call from the motel this evening I said I knew we had the key and would get it returned ASAP, the manager seemed to not care at all about the key but started of a tirade of angry rhetoric about my 3 out of 5 review, and again stated to tell me all about the evilness of Expedia and how they make millions and it all goes off shore, how they paid no tax, he went on to assume he knew all about my line of work and how I shouldn’t hide behind reviews and should be a man and put my name to the review. I did not appreciate being called by the owner of a motel and being ripped into because he didn’t like my review, which was nothing more than honest feedback, I never mentioned all of the short comings of the accommodation or the noisy Neighbours rooting in the next room. If old mate has such an issue with third party providers and OTA’s then why use them, he should sever all ties with them and take his chances on a second rate website and passing trade. Very unprofessional to call a guest and abuse them because you didn’t like honest feedback. Perhaps he is in the wrong line of work. I will not recommend or return.

Had a very enjoyable and comfortable overnight stay while traveling through Roma. We received a very friendly and warm welcome from Amanda and nothing was too much trouble at reception. Our rooms were very nicely furnished and very comfortable and clean. We could park right outside so very convenient. The highlight was our evening meal at the restaurant which was first class and service was superb. Great trip - thank you!
