This is me and my wife 2nd time to Cancun and I am glad we stayed at the Barcelo. This was our first stay in an adult-only resort and what a difference! Its not chaotic and crowded as other family-oriented resorts. And being all-inclusive is the way to go; I just grab whatever food, dessert, drinks I want without having to check the price. The reason why we chose Barcelo was because of its huge swimming pool. I think its the largest swimming pool in Cancun because we did check. :) The buffet is great and I like the part that they change some of the dishes so every morning the menu was different. Dinner was the best. We went to the French, Italian and Japanese restaurants on each of the nights we stayed there. The restaurants have 6-8 course menu and we ate like royalty! I highly recommend to all couples to stay here, if your idea of vacation is to laze around near the pool, swim and eat good food. Shout out to Nancy! Thanks for the hospitality and service during our morning buffet! I would like to add that the staff are friendly and they have a genuine welcoming vibe. :D

Hotel's Favorite
The rooms have all mod cons, good size and very very quiet (I was on the top floor). Great sea views. I havent tried the jacuzzi on the terrace yet. The buffet restaurant has a great selection to cater for all tastes and is different every day. This is for breakfast and lunch. The house wine here is ok. The pool is the best pool I have ever been in. It is enormous and heated. The swim up bar is great. The service everywhere is very attentive and quick. The 4 restaurants are really good too. The food is really good. My only comment (and I told this to a lady doing a survey yesterday) is that the house wine in the 4 restaurants is really rough, its un drinkable, in my opinion. So you have to buy a bottle of wine if you want something decent. That is my only issue with this amazing hotel. My suggestion to the Catalan owners is to step up the house wine to a decent level. This is an amazing, brand new hotel. Apart from the house wine, everything else is really top class!

We traveled to the Barcelo Maya Riviera from Nova Scotia in July 2021. We were nervous about travelling but we were all so excited. We had an absolutely amazing stay from beginning to end we stayed in room 2719 in the Riviera and it was absolute perfection. Our favourite restaurant was the rodizio big shout out to Jesus, angel and Gladys for making our time at the rodizio so memorable. We also enjoyed the Dolce Vita and the Mexico Lindo. We feel so lucky that seagrass was not an issue while we were here the ocean was absolute perfection the pools were amazing and we enjoyed afternoons in the clams by the pool:) We can’t say enough for the workers in this resort especially those who were out before the sun came up every morning raking and cleaning any seaweed that might’ve come in overnight. We are returning to this resort in March and we already can’t wait! Big shout out to WestJet vacations for making this vacation possible! If there are any Canadians out there that have any questions about travelling during Covid please feel free to reach out:)

Took my wife to Mexico for the first time and have to say I wasn't disappointed, but I certainly wasn't impressed. For an adults only all exclusive resort, I truly expected more. I understand there were issues because of Covid, and totally get that... but bars closing at 8 outdoors, then actually just shutting down at 7? Other bars not even open?? No reason. Room service over 45 minutes at minimum for some club sandwiches?? 0 excuse. Food was ok. Certainly wouldn't call it the best, or worst I've had. A lot of the staff acted like I was putting them out when I made requests or asked questions, but were all over me when I walked in the wrong spot without a mask. Put half that effort into your guests stay, and I'd be back with dozens of friends and family. The resort was beautiful and facilities were very nice. Sad we had to find things to do off the reservation.

I’ve been to Mexico several times and to mostly adults only resorts. Barcelo Maya Riviere is by far the nicest looking place of them all. But this doesn’t make a resort. Yes, it’s architectural sound and has all the big screens and pools but here is the bad. CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! It’s sorely lacking outside of a few individuals such as Guadeloupe at the pool bar (no music bar). The front desk is useless and not friendly. COMMUNICATION and I’m not talking about language. This staff isn’t knowledgeable or not sure of what they tell you. Whether it came from the front desk or Guest Services, each explanation was different to the same question. Finally the Ugly. You do not make a Rum n Coke (Cuba Libre) with Pepsi. In search of a coke I found some in the vending machines downstairs along the long corridor where you’ll find the Wellness n Fitness center. Pepsi sucks along with Barcelo Maya Riviere
