First time to ABBWR and what can I say but this place is great! Fantastic snorkeling, paddle boarding, beach volleyball and pool. The lobby bar was great and shout out to Wilbur the bartender and Carlos with his really cool falcons. Another shout out to Christopher who is a great paddle board instructor. Probably one of my favorite activities, went at least a couple times a day. The rooms were great as were the rest of the Staff. Can’t wait to return.

We just returned from our 4th trip to ABBWR. It was our least favorite trip of our 4 times there, but we'll return to our home away from home hoping for improvements. The main thing was the food. It just flat out wasn’t good this trip. We ate out three meals to get better food, and one lunch just ate snacks from the lobby shop. Rodizio was closed. The food was very repetitive and bland. We heard lots of complaints about it. The snack bar used to be awesome and it was the worst this year. Room service breakfast was not good either. I’ve always enjoyed the food before and really hope it improves. The kids club lady Mariel went on vacation. The lady that replaced her did not have the same energy or rapport with the kids. Also, she’d only watch kids for dinner from 6-7, so that kept us from having a nice kid-free dinner in one of the restaurants. Even when we offered to pay her, she wouldn’t stay, which Mariel was always happy to do. The resort couldn’t help it, but the waves were strong and the sargassum bad. Too many days we couldn’t snorkel due to the rain or churned up water. We often waited a couple of hours for our room to be cleaned in order to have our afternoon siesta, despite being out of the room from 8:30-2. We never got our Fidelity massages, Rodizio was closed, there were no tequila tasting nights or chocolate nights. There was no painting class as the lady went on vacation, and nothing in its place. Entertainment several times was just music on a Bluetooth speaker. As always, staff were amazing. Joel with Fidelity helped with many needs promptly. Jesus the waiter was exceptional. Carlos the falconer I consider a friend. He is the greatest. Jorge and Francisco in entertainment are excellent. How they keep their energy up, I don’t know. I enjoyed water aerobics a lot. Loved when Mariel was there with the kids. She’s so good with them. Sebas checked in a few times. Holi is the sweetest. The cleaners were excellent and our room was kept so nice. There’s only one exception, the lady at the front desk. She was curt at best, rude and nasty at other times. There’s a guy that works there that’s so very nice, I want to say Carlos. Try to get him, and not the other lady.

ABBWR is a beautiful resort with fantastic snorkeling and amazing food. We don't consider the people that work there staff, they are our friends. We have visited 3 times in the past 18 months and cry every time we have to say goodbye. Hopefully, we don't forget anyone. Shout out to... Carlos, he is a concierge that makes you feel at home as soon as you set foot there. He always goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. He has helped us coordinate celebrations and always give you a smile. Carlos is an asset to the resort and is the best! Clemente, beach bartender who makes great drinks and always fun to talk to. Constantly smiling no matter what the conditions are on the beach. Marabella and Abigail, beach waitresses are the sweetest. They can remember everyone's drink requests and are always happy even though they walk thousands of steps through the sand every day. Alejandro, buffet waiter with the kindest smile. He goes out of his way to make sure your meal is great. Can't wait to be back there, the most special place.

After reading the reviews we decided on this place for a friends 40th birthday. The hotel was somewhat nice. The pools were nice. The seaweed smelled BAD and you didn’t really get used to it. The food was less than mediocre. It was very bland and didn’t taste like much of anything. They did not have very many food options and if you wanted to go to a restaurant other than the Buffet, you would wait a very long time. Also, I love coffee and read somewhere there was a coffee bar. There really isn’t. It’s the lobby and they don’t really serve any variety of coffees with any flavor, if that’s something you are looking for. But the most disappointing service was the tour desk or person you purchase the excursions from. We booked 2 excursions, one to tulum and coba and the second one on a catamaran. We were promised and English speaking tour (and yes I understand we were in mexico) but that’s what we paid for and were promised. Welp. We were the only ones who spoke English. They would explain in Spanish and say maybe 3 words to one like in English. All questions and answers were answered is Spanish. Beyond frustrating since we couldn’t engage in any kind of conversation and were missing out on knowledge and we paid almost 300 dollars for the tour. Secondly, we were booked on a catamaran. Picked up on time like we were told and then after the 40 minute bus ride (which ended up being more like 2 hours) were dropped off and at first no one knew why we were there or what tour we were on. Then after payment we were told ALL food and ALL beverages aka non alcoholic and alcoholic were included. Come to find out, it ended at a certain time. Which would have been fine if we were told, but we were not. We have been to Mexico many times and have never EVER had this kind of experience. Moral to the story. Don’t stay here. Food is less than mediocre and there’s not really any variety at all. And the excursion desk LIES to you, just to get you to buy from him. We have stayed in much better resorts, I would chose any other. Would never return to this resort.

So I’d like to start off by saying al the things we loved about the resort. 1. Everyone was so sweet and willing to help. 2. We had our room cleaned every day and the cleaning was done absolutely so quickly and beautifully. So props to the cleaning ladies 3. The snorkeling is AMAZING, you are supposed to snorkel past the rope but no one every says anything and the reef is absolutely stunning. 4. If you walk a few minutes down the beach past secrets, there is a sea turtle snorkel tour that takes you right there in the water for $20 a person. We saw FIVE sea turtles and a large stingray, it was amazing! 5. It is one of the only beaches that clean up the seaweed off the beach every morning despite it coming back every day. 6. Bartenders love to remember your drinks and are fun in that way, Regarding food... Pelican bar is super good. We ate there once every day, fajitas, nachos and burgers are great. The Mexican restaurant is the best in our opinion, tacos were great and azteca soup we got two nights. We didn’t try LIMA cause food looked to Bouge and gross. Buffett had some decent options that could be eaten for a couple times in a row, but it kinda gets gross after a few times. Cons: 1. Nor a lot of food options and most food is below average, you feel like your eating the same food all week 2. We didn’t swim once because it was very small and always had a lot of people in it 3. Our rooftop penthouse was beautiful BUT we didn’t use it more than once. Hot tub water was brown second time. 4. All drinks are super watered down, all margs were horrible 5. The Buddha bar night club and Brazilian steakhouse were closed the whole week. Kinda ridiculous in my opinion Tips: 1. Since drinks are super watered down, order everything extra strong, and take shots of u can! Gin and tonic were good and we drank those and pina colada all week! And tequila shots 2. Some people said Penthouse suite rooms don’t get hot enough, but if you close your blinds completely for the whole day while your out and about, it will really help! 3. Don’t come here for more than a week unless you want to be sick of the food 4. Don’t come here if you are looking for a crazy time with amazing drinks... this place is super beautiful and relaxing!!!! But not for partiers 5. Walk down the beach into the little town and hit up turtle bay cafe amd bakery! Their tacos and pizzas and pina coladas are to die for! SUCH a hidden gem We had an amazing time truly!!! It was our first all inclusive and didn’t have too many expectations. We made the best of our experience and enjoyed every moment!
