A group of us visited for a couple of nights in July, with several of us staying in the hotel while 8 of us stayed in the cabins. Everyone commented on the cleanliness of the rooms and the quietness of the area. We had 2 meals (one dinner, one breakfast) and all commented on the food. It was great, and lots of it! From the liver and onions to the fish to the hot turkey sandwiches, everyone enjoyed the food. They have the best french fries! Breakfast was a little slow, but that was OK.

Never stayed here but did eat at the restaurant. The food was just okay. However the premises, from what I could tell without seeing the cabins or rooms, is definitely in need of some maintenance. Ther was a weird smell upon entering the extremely rundown main entrance. The smell was somewhere between damp/musty and sour, if that makes any sense. Very strange. The place seems extremely rundown. For a community like Bonavista that is tourist driven for the most part you would think a hotel in the area would be kept up.

Made last minute decision to find a room for us in Bonavista so we didn’t have an early drive from Gander to go out on boat tour. Ugh… this “hotel” is awful. Old, worn out, dumpy…front desk person was nice. But this is 2023… the room didn’t have an outlet in bathroom. One outlet on wall behind bed and one by desk which we had to move to charge our devices. The Wi-Fi was horrible and the router was strung though the hallway. $130 per night plus tax was $100 too much. I have stayed in campgrounds that were nicer.

Don’t believe everything you see on websites. The bathrooms were NOTHING like the pictures shown!!
Second picture is from the hotels website, first picture is what the bathroom actually looked like!!! we were with another couple and their bathroom was the same as ours. We also spoke to other guests there the same time and their bathroom was also outdated!

We like to stay places that friends and family have stayed so we know what the place really looks like. We looked at the pictures and decided to go there because it looked updated; boy were we wrong. The bathroom in the picture looked lovely, in reality the bathroom was like something out of the early 80’s. Beige marble walls and sink with teal green marbled through it.

Food was good, service was absolutely terrible! Never came back to table after we received our meal to see if we wanted dessert or a refill of our coffee etc.

We were tenting in eastern Newfoundland during early August with our four children. On this particular day, it started to pour in the late afternoon. We decided that we would try to find a B&B or motel for the evening. Trying to find something at the last minute was a challenge, but the owner of the Bonavista Motel & Cabins told us he had one cabin left so we booked it. What a pleasant surprise! Our "cabin" was, in reality, a small two-bedroom apartment, complete with fully equipped kitchen, a large television, fireplace (turned off for the summer) and wireless internet. Located just outside of town, there was plenty of parking and a restaurant & bar on site. It was a short drive to the lighthouse and Dungeon Provincial Park, and plenty of geocaches in the area!

Definitely under staffed. I don't mind dated as long as it's clean. Although the cammode and sink are clean the rest is filthy and looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in years.A thick layer of dirt on all the caulking, mold around the tub and mystery splatters all about. Yuck yuck yuck. Avertised high speed internet might be from the last century.

Beautiful view from front windows, unfortunately no opportunity to enjoy the front deck, too cold! But it was suitable for our needs and the price was right! Electric fireplace to warm up from the chill outdoors! It was a lil out of the way, but quiet, which was appreciated.

This was a spur of the moment decision to visit Bonavista and we were lucky to get accomadations at 2 days notice. When I called, the hotel staff was very pleasant and accomadating. They had a 2 bedroom cabin available ( like a mini apartment we discovered) down near the lighthouse so we booked it. On our drive to Bonavista, we arrived at the Bonavista hotel which was located just before the community of Bonavista. There we checked in, paid, and got our keys. Upon arrival to Cabin number 8, we were pleasantly surprised. The cabin was clean and bright. In addition to a side entrance door, there was a door facing the ocean which exited onto a newly built deck. The deck had a BBQ and 4 wooden deck chairs. There was a flat screened tv on the wall and a firelace in the living room. 2 large windows faced the ocean. There was lots of towels, facecloths, bedlinen, etc. A hairdryer was provided, along with soap, conditioner and dishwashing liquid, Plenty of pots, pans, dishes and utinsels were provided. The sunset could be viewed from the front deck and was breathtaking. Ceiling fans in all the rooms kept the cabin pleasant and cool. While we were there, carpenters were working - they were putting new decks on the other 3 attached cabins.Parking was easy and spacious. While there, we had the pleasure of speaking to the new owner (who was staying in Cabin number 7) .He said he had further future plans to put in outside firepits and seating. From our point of view, it would have been good to have WiFi- it was not provided, salt and pepper shakers, and a wire BBQ brush. The price for a night was reasonable. We would definitely return again to OCEAN VIEW CABINS booked with the Bonavista Hotel.

Planning our trip to the quaint seaside village of. Bonavista, we called ahead to the Bonavista cabins and were confirmed into cabin 1 with 2 beds for $114.00 all inclusive. When we arrived we found a place that did have a building with a restaurant but the cabins 1&2 were right beside the highway. When we inquired about alternatives we were told if we wanted to be ocean view we could have cabins 7 (one of 6-9) about 5kms away. We were delighted to pull up to newly built attached cabins fully equipped with a deck where we caught the sunset. Cabin 7 had one bedroom with queen bed and living room with a brand new sofa bed (double). We just stayed one night and found all that we needed with the exception of a hair dryer. Satellite tv and wifi were all functional. This cost $113.00! This cabin location was just down the road "a piece" from the lighthouse and Dungeon Provincial Park where we saw horses and the very cool "dungeon" (rock formation) and whales frolicking in the sea. I would recommend it.
