Detailed Reviews
What a wonderful place to stay!! Beautiful house and cozy rooms. Bed was VERY comfortable, room was spacious and bathroom was clean with everything you needed. Our host "Brittany" was exemplary, with her stories, homemade bread and homemade jam with our "made to order" breakfast. Met another lovely couple from Victoria BC and shared all of our adventures. Would highly recommend. Thank you for your hospitality!

Very clean establishment. Joel was very friendly and helpful. There was a little birthday cake for me in our room as I had mentioned I was celebrating a late birthday, very sweet of him. Also he had purchased turkey bacon for breakfast when he asked us about food restriction and I told him we didn’t eat pork. Again very considerate.
Thank you Joel, you were amazing.

Stayed one night in a very comfortable and clean room on the bottom floor. Breakfast was very good. The host was excellent and talked to us during breakfast. Met a nice couple from Upper Stewiacke. Got to see Matthew Legacy, Bonavista Lighthouse, Dungeon Prov. Park and saw a few puffins during our visit. Highly recommend this place to others.

My husband and I stayed at the Lancaster Inn for 1 night in July 2013. I have to say that it was a completely bizarre experience. We arrived around 5pm and found our room key on a desk in the front hall, with a note indicating where to find our room. That was it. There was nobody around, no one to show us inside or to answer any questions. The room was nice - clean, modern, comfortable - although the location is quite ugly with an empty lot next door and a busy road with a gas station in the front. It is not on the water and is not in any way attractively situated. We did not see any staff for the remainder of the night, and didn't even know if someone lived in the home or if the living space on the main floor was a common area. Weird. At breakfast there was a woman cooking and serving, but she did not speak to us or introduce herself so we were not sure if she was the owner or an employee. We left after breakfast without ever having anyone from the B&B talk to us. It was truly a bizarre experience and I would not stay there again. To that end, I would also not visit Bonavista again, as it was by far the least enjoyable town we stopped in on our trip across Newfoundland.

When I saw the huge "for sale" sign outside I got a bit worried, but here are some observations:
- no minifridge in room. Only one communal.
- room generally clean and well maintained, but vent doesn't work in the bathroom and found 3 billbugs on the floor.
- no air conditioning (that seems to be the norm in this province) and room is a bit stuffy, must open windows/turn on electric fan.
- Wifi connectivity is poor and extremely slow.
- Feels like sharing a house with a bunch of unknown strangers. Room door is regular wooden door with big gap underneath.

A new B & B. We stayed in an upgraded room, top floor, back side and it was a good choice. The B & B is clean, quiet, and very nicely appointed. Could not see much of a view but the establishment is out on its own so the surrounding area is spacious. Full, cooked breakfast was good. No hesitation in recommending.

+1
We spent two nights in the Matthew Jacuzzi Suite at the Lancaster Inn. The room was spotless and very large. It features a comfortable bed, fireplace and a jacuzzi tub. The en suite bathroom is also quite spacious, with plenty of room for two people to get ready at the same time. The stairs are quite steep, so if you have mobility issues or do not want to haul heavy luggage upstairs, be sure to request a first floor room.
Breakfast was good and you had the option of a hot breakfast or a selection of cereals.
Our GPS took us to the center of town, so use the directions listed on the inn's website, rather than relying on a nav system.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lancaster and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Stayed here while exploring Bonaviata, as we do as often as we can living just 3 hours away. This B&B was beautiful! The staff were friendly and breakfast the next morning was delicious. I would for sure recommend this place to any travellers!

My mom and I just recently stayed at this amazing B&B. The rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained. It was not close to the ocean, but was one of the nicest B&B's I have stayed in. Bonivista is an amazing location to see whales and puffins. It also has a lot of history in the town. Would recommend this to anyone.
