Wow wow wow
These tents take glamping to a new level
They are amazingly designed to max comfort while being eco friendly
We stayed in a deluxe tent (number 4) which overlooked pinky’s beach. The view was so nice, it had a dune directly in front which was perfect to give you privacy while on the balcony from those on the beach - your neighbours can still see so it’s not totally private. Our tent I think was the most perfect for view and privacy, I read before going number 3 was the best.... for view - absolutely, however with the direct beach access right next to it everyone can see you while on the balcony and into the tent so definitely no privacy there
The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms for a ‘tent’ were spacious and perfect, they have everything you need including PowerPoint and USB to charge all your phones and cameras. There is no TV, so you might need to bring iPads if your kids need them, or just enjoy the quiet surrounds. The tents were cleaned and prepared really well, you are also provided with a broom which will be needed for the sand that blows in from being directly on the beach :)
Only downfall with the tents is the noise of them banging at night when it was windy, but that’s what you should expect from a tent, which was fine but if your not used to it you might want some earplugs - esp in winter months as it was windy even in summer :)
They are serviced every 4 days which would be fine, however would be nice to change your towels daily just for the fact you are swimming and salty. When asked to changed I was advised it would cost $10 a towel!!!!! Which is absolutely ridiculous considering it cost over $400 a night to stay, something needs to change there.
In the deluxe there is a Webber Q (BBQ) on the balcony which was great for cooking your breakfast and dinner, the other tents don’t have them but there are plenty of communal BBQ areas around :)
There is also little kitchen area with a small fridge, sink and microwave if needed, cutlery and plates are provided along with a few utensils for the BBQ
The park as a whole is awesome, there is a pool area at the beach club which is just for guests only, there is a restaurant if you don’t want to cook and plenty to do. It’s extremely kid friendly which is great! But as a couple would be nice to have a time of year (summer and winter) that you could come and be adults only, for those wanting time away and chill or romantic getaway without being woken by the kids.
I feel it is definitely overpriced for what it is but it’s Rottnest so I guess you can’t expect much more, it’s not a cheap place to visit regardless
I would love to stay here again and highly recommended giving it a try.

We just got back from a weekend here. It was our first time to Rottnest and I am sure we will return to the island, I am just not sure I would stay here again.
The good..
Location was pretty nice, a very easy bike ride or nice stroll into the settlement.
Pinkies beach is stunning. The view of the beach from the outdoor bar/restaurant is lovely.
The staff seemed really nice and responsive to our requests. They fixed maintenance issues and attempted to sort out the kids that were throwing the jenga blocks/garden game equipment at the birdlife.
The tents are like new hotel rooms under canvas.
The bad..
It is not value for money. For $400 a night I was expecting more. When charging theses rates, expectations are raised. These were not met. A BBQ on the deck of our "superior" family tent would have been good since there was just a microwave, toaster and kettle in the kitchenette.
There was no way of making ice and there was no drinking water provided (the tap water was tepid and pretty gross).
The family tent was pretty small, not big enough if you have older kids. It is just one big room (separated with a little canvas to make a very small area for the bunk beds and a larger area with the queen bed) with a kitchenette and bathroom at the other end.
The breakfast was so dire on the first day we decided not to eat at the pinkies beach club for any meals aside from the included breakfast. It was undercooked scrambled egg and undercooked low quality bacon. There were flies and people coughing all over the buffet.
The bar was expensive and charged me $4 for a soda water when I was buying a round of alcoholic drinks. This is excessive, as were the bar prices.
The noise. The pool area was a no go most times. We had two 11 year olds with us and even they weren't keen on the pool area when it was overrun with out of control kids. We got about 40 minutes there in the entire 2 night stay.
The noise was also bad in general. There was a tent partying behind us until the 10pm curfew so none of us could sleep. The aforementioned out of control kids started screaming and running close by to our tent at 7am. I actually came home feeling exhausted!!
Overall, we came away feeling the resort was more about making money than looking after their guests.

Hi Dominique, thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review. We have tried very hard to preserve the natural beauty of Pinky's Beach and to create an eco-resort that balances an experience of nature and luxury. We're pleased to read that you enjoyed our wonderful location, beautiful views and eco-tents. It's also great that our friendly park team were helpful and responsive throughout your stay! We're terribly sorry however to read that you felt your stay didn't represent value for money, that our breakfast offering wasn't up to standard and that noise from other guests impacted your stay, that's very disappointing. We have passed on your feedback on to our General Manager Luke, who will look into this and address internally. We further appreciate your advice for improvement as we have very great aspirations to ensure all our guests have a fabulous time and without it, we could never hope to reach the level of service that we strive for. We hope you'll give us another chance to put things right. Give us a call or drop us a line - or call into one of the other parks in our network. We have more than 280 parks with Discovery Parks and Top Parks in some of Australia's loveliest locations. Thanks, the Discovery - Rottnest Island team.

This was such a special trip planned for us as a family in a family room paying $1000 a night. What a waste of mummy. The pool walls are slimy and green.
The room is extremely hot without air conditioning. The breakfast was in inedible when we asked for fruit we got one strawberry and I’m not kidding one strawberry! No condiments for the toast I’m not kidding not Vegemite not jam not anything!
There are ants everywhere in the room the people here serving try their very best and are lovely but the property is not worth the money and it’s certainly not five star, what a sad disappointment and waste of money 😞

Rottnest -worth a visit
The Sealink ferry were less congested than the “Express” alternative. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Island is great for a few hours to explore or relax on the beach with a good book
Quakka’s make the visit though- adorable little animals, really tame and a great photo to take home!

My partner and I had an amazing stay at Discovery Rottnest! The tents were larger than I expected, spotlessly clean and really well appointed with a super comfortable bed and ceiling fan which kept the tent nice and cool on a hot evening. Pinky's beach club is great with delicious drinks and cocktails and a decent enough menu (more vegan/vego options would have been good) and the buffet breakfast in the mornings is excellent. The best part of Discovery was the "vibe" around the whole resort- it felt like camping as we chatted to all our neighbours. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly, particularly the bar staff at Pinkys who were loads of fun. We loved the regular quokka visitors around the grounds too! Given the lack of modern accommodation on Rottnest, Discovery is absolutely worth the money if you want to stay somewhere a bit special. We will definitely be back!

Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback Sarah, we're glad you had an awesome stay at Discovery - Rottnest Island. We want it to be a place where you can experience the beautiful Rottnest environment with a touch of luxury, which makes little touches like our 'his' and 'hers' bathroom set up, incredibly comfy beds and ample storage so important and a priority when constructing our tents! Great to hear too you thought our food was delicious and our staff friendly - we think we have a great team of enthusiastic people who want our guests to have a wonderful time, which includes their passion for showcasing some of the most beautiful produce WA has to offer! We're always keen however to hear where we can do better - Grant, our CEO, is a very strong believer in the old saying: all feedback is a gift! We're really grateful that you took the time to let us know your feedback it's such a compliment, we'd love you to come back and see us again. Kind Regards, the Discovery – Rottnest Island team.

This is not my usual thing to write bad reviews, but after reading other peoples reviews there are obviously some issues with staying at the discovery and also with the service at Pinky’s. We were two families having a two night stay in the newer upgraded eco tents, that we got upgraded to as they had a private area at the back of them. Only to find the ones we stayed in were not actually finished, there were bits not completed so we could not use if we wanted, such as the outdoor shower, the balcony area was unsafe as the balustrade area had open areas where you could fall down from and no bbq was in the what is meant to be the outdoor kitchen area. We refused to pay for the upgrade, and thankfully the management did agree to take this charge off. Rottnest island over Christmas could not cope with the demand and the amount of people that were staying there it seemed. We struggled to find anywhere to eat, as everywhere was booked up. So we thought we would stay close and eat at pinky’s, their lunch time food at finished early because they were busy in the day and had ran out of things, and then their evening menu (which was terrible for choices) was delayed for taking orders too. Only when the food turned up it was awful. We asked for a full refund. We did do the credit transaction at the time, but to this date both families have not had that money returned to us in our bank accounts. Four emails have been sent and each time a reply was sent saying that the money was refunded, then it was with the manager of Pinky’s and also now that it’s with accounts for processing. Not good enough. When as a family of 4 we spent $2,100 for 2 nights on accommodation, bike hire, and the ferry , not accounting for food, it is terrible value for money. Reading the reviews of late, we are not on our own it seems. There are other things I could go on about, but the lack of care for ensuring we are paid our money back is appalling, and still ‘no refund’. Think twice when booking.

Undoubtedly the best accommodation on Rottnest we thoroughly recommend this place but be aware it is very expensive. I understand that the packages have been improved since we booked to include breakfast but still be prepared to pay $400-$500 a night. Probably for that price I would have expected daily service of the room.
I have read earlier reviews of the resort but can happily say staff and management were excellent and any of the early teething problems have been well and truely sorted out. Given the seasonal nature of the resort the management should be very proud of the team work on display. Especially as this is the first time the resort has been open over the busy Christmas/New Year period.
We have booked again for next year and it will be interesting to see how the resort is after a full year of operation.
Thanks

I don’t normally write these reviews but when you book in a years advance and paid $500 a night I feel obligated too. We and another family booked a year in advance with one request being both the tents be located together. Upon arrival at the defined 2pm check in time one room was not ready, with no reason or expecting checking time provided.
After receiving the keys one hour after the agreed check in time we noted that both tents were not located together as requested a year in advance. Future, the location of the tents backed onto Tent Land. The noise from Tent Land made sleeping difficult and in fact left us feeling like a holiday three days into our drip. The language coming from Tent Land was also not acceptable give me we had two children and out tent had no sound proofing.
Staff made no proactive attempts to improve our experience at @Discovery Rottnest Island. I would not recommend @Discovery Rottnest Island to anyone wanting to have an enjoyable time enjoyable time exploring the Island and enjoying good food and drinks.

Hi Feedbackjan2021, thanks for staying with us at Discovery Rottnest Island. We're sorry about the troubles with your booking and tent allocation. Please know while we do our best to allocate tents next to one another, we can't always accommodate this. Unfortunately the information to be allocated together wasn't provided on your booking, which is an error that occurred on our end. We're so sorry to cause such disappointment. We are a little upset as you mention we made no proactive attempts to move you, when we did move one of your tents after the first night to be next door to one another, along with offering to move both your tents further away from the camp grounds. Please know we'd love to chat with you about your feedback further and will give you a follow up call this week. Thanks for taking the time to provide your comments. Kind Regards, the Discovery Rottnest Island team.

We travelled to Rottnest for two nights of swimming, sun and nature-activities and Discovery Park was exactly what we wanted in terms of accomodation. We stayed in the Superior Tent which was more than big enough for just the two of us. The bed was super comfortable after a long day of cycling around the island, the shower had great water pressure and bathroom was also quite big. Our tent had a mini kitchenette which was ideal for making a morning coffee or storing our wine and beers for happy hour on the veranda. Breakfast was served at Pinky's (but watch out for those seagulls, they are very aggressive!), there are BBQ facilities and a general store in the main street of town for purchasing meat, drinks, milk or anything else you need to make your own meals if you prefer. Everything was clean and tidy and we noticed that ear plugs were also supplied but we didn't notice any noise of a night. It was a super lovely stay, only a short stroll into the main street or a 3 minute bike ride. We would definitely return. Glamping at its best!

An expensive tent camping that offers:
Dirty dishes at breakfast
A small and poor swimming pool
Poor quality food
not redo your room e very day but every 4 days
If you want to have your room redone every day you have to pay, if you want to check out 1 hour later you have to pay and so on
I ‘ ve been travelling around the world for a lot of years but I ‘ ve never found a hotel such expensive, giving you so little.....
Not recommended. For people enthusiastic for this accomodation I give an advice: for the same price you could have much more: enough taking a look around.......

When you take the ferry to rottnest, register your luggage to the discovery and they will send your luggage to Discovery. chances are when you are ready to check in your luggage will be in the room already. When you leave as well, tell them which ferry you take and it will be loaded on. So no need to lug luggages around.
No AC. Ceiling sweep fans only and the ventilation through the tent which is good
While you could put a lock on, the island is very safe and with a regular level of passing people it would be very surprising for someone to break in
We had the basic tent and felt really comfortable about leaving it just zipped up, I’d always suggest keeping your passport and phone with you but otherwise all good!
