We really needed a good get away and the STONEFENCE was even better than we imagined. We had a room looking at the St Lawerence and their gazebo. The room was beautiful, had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a seating area to watch TV( unlike some places you have to sit on bed ) There was a small deck to sit on and look at the marina. My husband fished from the docks while I sat in gazebo . The staff was very friendly and so helpful. A huge thank you to BRUCE for booking us in the room he did. They also offer a hot breakfast with many options. There are motel rooms, townhouses to stay in. Perfect family get away with a pool a small beach . We will be back Was good for our body and souls. Thank you Michele D.

The owners at the Stonefence Resort are awesome people and the work at the facility. They have fresh hot breakfast every morning. The view is one of the best of the St Lawrence River. They have i believe four buildings and the Manor House. My friend and I stay in the Manor House in there hot tub rooms. There is an outdoor pool, tennis court, playground and lots of property to walk on including multiple gazebos, including one out on the river. Everyone on staff was so helpful and polite. I would recommend this place to everyone for just about any occasion.

The previous 2 times we went here we ended up in a much better room. This time the beds were placed so close to the walls that you could barely fit between the bed & the wall (on the wall side). There was a coffee maker but only caffeinated coffee was available in the room (no decaf, no hot chocolate). The hallway leading to the room had 3-4 lights but only the one at the near end was lit so it was VERY dark when we went to find our room at the far end of the hall. On the positive side: The staff were nice. The hot breakfast was FREE and was very good.

I wish I could say the hotel was quaint, but it wasn't. The website made it look like it was going to be, but photos deceive. At least in the house, which I just think needs a complete renovation, it doesn't appear the owners have put hardly any of their profits back into their property, and it sorely needs it. The room I stayed in, 207, was sorely tired. The "century house" had broken and worn areas throughout. It just made you feel depressed. The beds were not comfortable, the toilet ran all night long, the air-conditioning unit didn't run for very long without switching off (and it was unseasonably warm). The breakfast was nothing special and consisted of bananas, apples, or tangerines, plus an assortment or packaged donuts or pop tarts, bread and bagels, coffee juice, and tea. The price for the stay should not have been $130.

My husband and I have been coming here for 10+years. We rented a town house. The sidewalk and porch was covered in snow and not shoveled. The sheets didn't fit on the mattress, there was dried coffee on the kitchen counter, there was hair in the bathtub and dead flies on the window sill upstairs. There web site advertises full breakfast everyday. When we went to the breakfast room it was locked. Upon check out I made my complaint to the person behind the desk. The man apologized about the sidewalk not being shoveled but did throw rock salt down when someone else complained. He further stated he was by himself and couldn't shovel. The full breakfast is now in the office lobby where there is no seating for people to eat. We will no longer stay here again and will find another place to stay in the future.

So we decided to fly out of Ogdensburg this time. Great experience. But flight was really early so we decided to arrive a day early and stay at Stonefence Resort. Did not expect much from the place, other than it’s less than 5 minutes from airport. We opened the door and were blown away. Big room, quiet, comfy, lots of wood on ceiling and walls. Really enjoyed our stay. If you’re flying out of Ogdensburg International and need a place to stay, stay here.

I have previously stayed at the Stone Fence and the accommodations were good. This year it looked run down and neglected. The room had a bad odor and the door lacked a proper lock. Stayed a few nights and left for the hotel a mile away. Truly not worth the amount they asked for this motel. Sad to see it going down hill

Dear Mrs. Crawford, I am writing you in regards to your critique titled “Disappointed”. I sincerely apologize that your stay with us at The Stonefence Inn and Suites was not up to your expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to learn however that you and your husband did stay the entire three nights of your three night reservation as planned and then checked out. Your review seemed to imply you left prematurely and very disgruntled. Regarding the lack of a properly locked door. The door in question is not the main entrance door or the sliding glass door leading to the river front porch, but is the handicap door leading to the handicap ramp. This door is equipped with a special locking mechanism that locks immediately and securely once closed and cannot be opened from the outside. This door must be opened from the inside similar to a dead bolt but with the automatic locking provision. I did install a conventional dead bolt when I learned of your concern, although not necessary. I trust it gave you some peace of mind. I am sorry but I did not detect any odor when doing the installation and don’t know what it could have been. Regarding you room rate, rates tend to be higher during the summer months of July and August. This year though due to the Co-Vid 19 pandemic the room rates were lowered 10 to 15 percent in addition to a 5 percent senior discount afforded you. Your room was a spacious large room equipped with a king size bed, 2 comfortable arm chairs, large TV, and a kitchenette overlooking the beautiful St. Lawrence River. The room also has a attached porch with patio furniture. The hotel serves a free breakfast on the restaurant patio with this the regulations of the State of New York’s handling of the Co-vid 19 outbreak. I must respectively disagree with your assessment that it is not worth it. Being a responsible business person I have tried to rationalize your reasons for writing what in my opinion is an unfounded and harmful review, perhaps malicious. The only benefit came to our competitive friends a mile away who also operates a very good lodging facility. Bruce Larose / Owner

Recently stayed at Stone Fence while visiting family. Enjoyed the spacious rooms. Staff was utmost courteous and over the top in anyway to accommodate our request. It is a family run business and we felt as though we were apart of their family. Views of the beautiful grounds and of St Lawrence River were what we needed to relax and unwind. Definitely our first choice when coming back to visit!!

Our flight out of Plattsburgh was cancelled due to weather. We were rerouted to Ogdensburg & needed a place to stay. Stonefence had a beautiful townhouse suite that slept 7 comfortably. We drove in late and the owner was so accommodating. Beautiful cabin with lots of room with a pleasant continental breakfast. After a full day of driving it was nice to come in out of the cold to relax and get a good nights rest.

The gazebo by the river is beautiful except there were thick cobwebs all around . The bench’s have almost no paint left on them, we needed to bring towels to sit on so as it to get splinters. It is just so run down. There used to be a restaurant, a fitness center, a conference area. Our room did not have WIFI and the room phone was dead. I reported both to front desk with no action. There were thick cobwebs on our beautiful balcony, more than just a weeks amount more than a year’s amount. You can see how magnificent of a resort this was in it’s hay day but no some money needs to be put back into to make it special. Lovely room and view though. This is our second and last stay
