The stay at Nungubane was great. Accomodation : The Room #1 was great. The room is very spatious. A very big bed, a nice bathroom and Airco in the room. Food : The food was good. The seating is special, since you sit at one table with all the other guests. (This was new for us and a bit awkward in the beginning) We are not the fan of barbecue (or braai), so the first dinner was a bit of a down for us. The other dinner compensated greatly for that and we were fulfilled with what they had to offer.. The breakfast and lunch were abundant and very tasty. Game Drive : The guides are THE BEST !!!! Bertus has a wealth of knowledge. In all our game drives over the years, he was the one that still taught me some new things. Anouchka is (for her newbie position ;) ) also very dedicated…
We traveled from Brazil to this place on the recommendation of a couple of friends living in South Africa. The experience was wonderful. We were very well attended and received. The staff are always very helpful and attentive. Unfortunately, however, we were robbed. We left passport and money in the safe box. Someone stole 1000 dollars and 400 euros. The safe box has a key and does not show much security. It looks like any key can open the vault. In addition, all rooms are keyless and open all day with access for anyone. Perhaps this policy should be revised to provide more security for guests. We communicated to the manager, but had no feedback on the incident. If you want a great experience, I recommend the place. If you want safe accommodation, unfortunately it is not…
We recently stayed at Nungubane for 4 nights and just loved our stay! Welgevonden is a beautiful park with great wildlife, and very easy to get to from Jo'burg - just about a 3,5 hrs drive. The food was really great, and we loved getting to know the other guests. We also really enjoyed our game drives - Bertus was an amazing guide with such great knowledge about everything in the park! The lodge itself is beautiful - very authentic and beautiful rooms. What really made the lodge special though for us was the staff - led by Chris. Chris was really, really great - so friendly, personal, and he just went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay - it honestly couldn't have been better. He also seemed to have created a great team because everyone at the lodge was just really…
We stayed at Nungubane Game Lodge for a week as part of our honeymoon and could not have imagined a better experience. We received a very warm welcome from the whole staff upon arrival. As the lodge only accommodates max. 10 guests at a time, the atmosphere is very unique and genuine. The hospitality we experienced was truly amazing which made us feel right at home. We also liked getting to know the other guests from different nationalities. One evening there was a private dinner set up as a surprise for us in our room which was very romantic. We were also lucky to have two private game drives as we were the only guests for a while. The twice-a-day game drives were awesome. We saw a whole lot of animals from elephants, zebras, lions, rhinos, giraffe, cheetah, baboons and a wide…
We visited the Nungubane Lodge during a long weekend break. It was not what I expected - it was way beter. The lodge is situated in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. The price includes transfers to and from the lodge, all meals and snacks and two game drives a day (of about three hours each). What makes the experience a bit different is the fact that the lodge is very small and can accommodate only 10 guests at a time. This means that you will have a very close and personal experience with the other guests, since everybody eats together and goes on the game drives together. I am not use to such a setting, but it was surprisingly pleasant. The rooms are beautiful and the staff go out of their way to make you feel special, greeting you with a song on arrival and ensuring that…
my family and I stayed in Nungubane Game Lodge for a week at the time of July. I think there are many amazingly good things in the lodge - the food is extremely good, the cabinet is beautiful, comfortable and clean with a fire place. the location is in the middle of the bush and sometime animals comes to the water hall and you can see them from a view spot (we saw a lion, zebras and a pack of baboons). the drives in the early morning and at the sunset were wonderful. we saw every animal you can imagine! but there is one thing that made this place really special - the people and the service. that was beyond belief. I can't remember such a warm service, it felt like they are a big family, and they treat you as one of them. The best thing in the trip was Annouchka. the best guide…
There are not enough words to express the wonderful time we had during our stay at Nungubane lodge! From the firs moment we met Annouchka at the western gate of the reserve, until we left six days later, we hoped the experience would never end. Hidden in the bush there are only five perfect intimate huts- beautifully designed, well maintained, with a beautiful view. The hut includes a Large room, a comfortable bed, a romantic fire place and a cozy bathroom. Perfect! One can spend days just enjoying the view from the balcony. The hut is very private and nature is the only view. There is a private water hole that you can observe from a secluded view point. We saw a lion!!! We ate excellent food made by Chef Lizie and Anne (two options every meal, different every day) and both were…
My husband and I had the best time at Nungubane! A short break away from the city felt like we had relaxed for over a week. From the minute we arrived, we felt so welcomed by the team of ladies. Always friendly and accommodating - no request is too much effort for them. The food was amazing with lots of variety to accommodate everyone’s taste. Boma night under the stars was definitely the highlight for us. Annoushka is one of the most vibrant people we have ever met and her passion for the bush and animal conservation is contagious. She goes out of her way to make sure you get the best sightings even if it means staying out late. Her extensive knowledge about everything from plant species to bird life and to the large predators made you appreciate things you would otherwise…
Recently spent a 3 night stay at Nungubane with my girlfriend. From the very first second stepping into the lodge felt like being at home, there was smiles all around and Chey and the staff catered to our every need and desire throughout our stay. Welgevonden is a sanctuary with such diverse landscapes that it felt like watching an 10 episodes of “My Planet” with Attenborough. The rooms are amazing, big baths and lovely showers. Every room has an amazing view and we spotted some elephants from our balcony! There was special little touches in the room which I won’t spoil for you, but it made Nungubane just that extra bit special for me. Our guide was Annouchka. In all my time spent on game drives i have never enjoyed it this much, she was an expert regarding her knowledge of…
This lodge was our perfect choice. We were treated like kings in a lodge that felt like home. The lodge is run by a fantastic team of ladies that take care of the finer details of everything. Nothing was to much for them to arrange and your itinerary was yours to set, from sleeping in and going on a mid-morning game drive, to a romantic dinner in your chalet. The choice is yours. Our female ranger (Annouchka) was very knowledgeable and respectful of the animals around. An amazing experience and defiantly something to be repeated.
