Recently spent a 3 night stay at Nungubane with my girlfriend. From the very first second stepping into the lodge felt like being at home, there was smiles all around and Chey and the staff catered to our every need and desire throughout our stay. Welgevonden is a sanctuary with such diverse landscapes that it felt like watching an 10 episodes of “My Planet” with Attenborough. The rooms are amazing, big baths and lovely showers. Every room has an amazing view and we spotted some elephants from our balcony! There was special little touches in the room which I won’t spoil for you, but it made Nungubane just that extra bit special for me. Our guide was Annouchka. In all my time spent on game drives i have never enjoyed it this much, she was an expert regarding her knowledge of…
This lodge was our perfect choice. We were treated like kings in a lodge that felt like home. The lodge is run by a fantastic team of ladies that take care of the finer details of everything. Nothing was to much for them to arrange and your itinerary was yours to set, from sleeping in and going on a mid-morning game drive, to a romantic dinner in your chalet. The choice is yours. Our female ranger (Annouchka) was very knowledgeable and respectful of the animals around. An amazing experience and defiantly something to be repeated.
We planned a very last-minute trip to Nungubane with two friends of mine for one night in June 2019, and had no idea what to expect. Little did we know about the fantastic experience we were about to have... The lodge is fantastic value for money and very cosy. But its real asset is the staff. It is an all-women lodge, run by a fantastic team dedicated to making you feel at home. While the entire team deserves an award for their hospitality and service, the ranger Annouchka is the one who made our stay extra special. She pulled off two amazing game drives and did everything she could to give us the adventure we were looking for!
My husband and I stay at Nungubane for 4 nights to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The team of ladies at the lodge were extremely welcoming and friendly and made us feel like part of the family straightaway. Our game drives with Annouchka were very informative and enjoyable. She takes great care for the environment and has a massive amount consideration for the animals, which we both felt was very positive. The team went to great lengths to make our anniversary rememberable with a private meal on our balcony on our first night. The food on that night and all other meals at the lodge were amazing. We can highly recommend this lodge and we will definitely be returning in the future.
I recently returned from a 4 day stay in Nungubane Lodge. WOW! What an authentic experience. This lodge is a must for the discerning safari goer. Where to start..? The food was delicious. I have stayed in the outback/wilderness/posh camping before on different safaris and never have I had food this good. The staff were friendly and accomodating, generally giving us options for each meal earlier in the day. I was bowled over by how tasty the food was. Delicious and finished to a very high standard. Generally I'm a food snob and I still remember each meal we ate there. The accomodation itself is located in the Welgevonden Game Reserve so you are living in an African paradise, its quite remote. If coming from Johannesburg you will be driving for 4 hours or there is an airstrip not…
