Detailed Reviews
First I want to thank the Manager Trupti for her kindness. We stay at this hotel when ever we visit Massena and the surrounding area. We are always very satisfied with the service, the room ,the breakfast. Everything is to our liking. All the rooms are on the back side so no noise from highway. The room is always clean. The furniture has been upgraded and is very comfortable. Beds are comfortable and we sleep very well. The location is perfect to get into town or to visit other areas such as Potsdam or Ogdensburg. We will stay here again on our next visit and would recommend this hotel.

I haven’t stayed at the hotel in a few years, but wowwww they have done an amazing job. The front desk staff is very friendly and willing to help. It’s very clean and lots of new updates. Also cheaper than any other hotel nearby. Location is only a 5 minutes drive to local restaurants and stores. Overall great experience and I’ll definitely be staying here again and recommending this hotel to anyone traveling to the area.

I came upon this place after the hotel I had chosen in downtown Massena was absolutely horrible. Usually I tend to stay away from EconoLodges because of the number of places I have seen where the rooms had been less- than good. This one is one of the BEST, and I would stay there again, if I ever got the chance to return.
I stayed at the Econo Lodge to help cover a carp fishing tournament. Drove right by it on the way to a not- so- quality inn at the heart of town. But the next day, I bailed out of my shoddy downtown room to try this place, checked in, stayed in a room directly almost above the front office, which apparently was where the high speed wireless network was. Yes, there is Wi- fi in Massena. And it was great, the room was fresh, looked like a typically well- maintained room. What about the view? Well, a standard state highway out front, but listen, the little bit of grounds they have are exceptionally maintained! Nice little garden type thingy with a gazebo... out back, there is a lawn, then trees.
The bed was comfy, the night was one with a good sleep, especially since I tend to have a tough time sleeping in hotel rooms... the staff are VERY nice. The walls seem a little thin, not that thick concrete one sees at the big hotel bldgs, but it was fine. This property had won some kind of in- business award from their parent company. I joked about it, but listen, they deserve the award.
If only other businesses would have staff and maintain their product in such ways.

Worst hotel experience I have ever had. Admittedly, I knew I was getting a smoking room and did not want this, but needed a room due to a college family weekend - hotels were all booked. The room smelled like a smoky bar - had to sleep with the window wide open, jacket on, on a chilly night, but this really didn't help. The smoke permeated the air and everything I had with me smelled. The 2 chairs in the room were both stained, so I didn't feel comfortable sitting in either one. Couldn't wait to leave first thing in the morning - would rather have slept in my car!

Since we have family in the Massena area we travel their a few times a year...when more than just my wife and I travel we stay at any of the area hotels...this time we traveled with 3 of our grandchildren. I picked the Econo Lodge because it appeared the rooms were bigger. So we booked a suite for 2 nights which included 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. The room was large and the bathroom had a tub/shower and a separate shower... certainly good for our group. The room was clean as was the bathroom...it is very dated. The bedding for the sofa bed was on a shelf in plastic garbage bags...no complaints. The air conditioner worked well. My complaint centers around the 'breakfast.'. It's advertised to be from 6 to 10. The first morning we got there at 8:30... there are meager choices to begin with, however, there is a waffle iron. Unfortunately, there was no syrup...no napkins, either. So, I went to the front desk and was told only the manager has the key to the store room. So no syrup and no napkins...the next morning there was no waffle syrup, no bread, no bagels...so I asked the poor desk clerk again...this time he showed me a bag of frozen bagels with no where to defrost them. Upon checkout the desk clerk told me at least 8 other guests had complained. Owner/ manager obviously doesn't care. Never again

Overall the hotel is ok , clean sheets and a shower. Staff is nice, breakfast is good. Couches in the suites are a little stained and a little musty smelling ( room 120 ) But we always stay there when we come up for our tournament.

The front desk attendant was a little dry upon check-in. He didn't mention the password for WIFI nor state anything about breakfast hours or location. Note breakfast is slightly down the hall from the office. Water didn't drain well in the tub or sink. A hair was in the tub but the bed was clean and comfy. Walls are thin I heard a man snoring so we left the TV on all night. The experience and price point were worth it for a one night stay. Longer? I'm not certain.

My husband and I spent two nights here while visiting a friend in nearby Waddington. When we were preparing to leave the second morning, I planned to jump in and out of a quick shower only to discover that hot water was among the missing and remained so for the next 90 minutes! Luckily we weren’t on a tight schedule that day, but it was rather irritating to put it mildly. I know that the property was completely booked and believe that the water heater was not adequate to meet the demand.
The room itself was large and clean, but drab with decent lighting, an excellent small fridge, ample clothing storage, a small table and chairs, and a comfortable bed. All pluses. There was also a comfy recliner that my husband immediately claimed for himself.
Our desk clerks were very friendly but often away from the counter.
Breakfast was very minimal with fair coffee.
We would stay here again, but probably only in a pinch.
