In October 2019 I stayed at the Fairfield inn in Malta, NY.
The room, which had a rate of $109, was a suite with a separate bedroom and living room area.
The bedroom had a king-size bed with end tables on each side and a cabinet with a television and three drawers. There was also a large mirror and a bench.
The bedroom and living room areas were separated by a half wall. The living room had a desk with a chair, couch, chair, coffee table and second, larger television in a built-in cabinet. There were also two phones, one by the bed and one by the desk.
Between the living room area and the bathroom was a nook with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.
The bathroom had ample counter space, a shower and bath tub and a large, low mirror.
Breakfast was included and check-out was at noon, which is later than at many hotels.
The suite was spacious and a good deal for the price. When previously visiting the area I had stayed at another chain hotel but its rates at that time were higher. I would definitely stay at this Fairfield Inn again.
The only issue that we had was that the hotel is not visible from a main road and difficult to find, particularly at night. We are not from the area and better signage as you approach the hotel would have been appreciated.

My family vacations in Saratoga every August and we were looking for a new hotel for our group to stay. My mom and I drove up and stayed 2/22 to test it out for a night before our trip and we were very happy.
Our first impression was that the hotel was clean and we were greeted right away. The breakfast area had plenty of seating with a TV and fireplace and a door that opened onto the back patio which had a grill and will have a fire pit and furniture in the summer. Rooms were clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was free and had a great selection (eggs, sausage, waffles, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc.) They also have a small "store" with snacks, frozen meals, and ice cream treats in case you have a craving and don't want to drive anywhere.
The location was great too! We timed it was around 10-15 minutes from Saratoga Race Course and there were plenty of places to grab a bite around the grounds (Panera, Starbucks, Dunkins, Five Guys, etc. along with other local eateries). There was also a Price Chopper and Cumberland Farms very close for groceries, snacks, and gas.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and we are looking forward to returning to this hotel for our trip in August!

Visiting family and spent a long holiday weekend. Hotel was very clean. Very friendly staff especially Rosie at the front desk.
Adhering to all COVID-19 protocols. No daily housekeeping but if you need additional towels and such just call down to front desk.
Free breakfast is grab and go and our room had a microwave so we could warm a few things up if needed.
Close to some restaurants including Panera, Jersey Mikes and Recovery sports grill.
Would stay here again.

I tested positive for Covid-19 and my husband had to stay there as he could not be exposed to me due to a health condition. We booked a room for 5 nights, I guaranteed his late arrival with a debit card, explaining he'd pay with his credit card upon arrival. I checked our bank account and they had charged both my debit card and his credit card for the room. In other words, they double charged us. I called the desk and the general manager said I'd have dispute the charge with my bank and they'd issue a credit within 10days - are you kidding me? Even my bank said they had never heard of such customer service. Trust me, when you are sick with the virus, the last thing you need to do is fight over getting double charged. Then, my husband was there for 5 nights and not once did they clean the room. They said it's because of Covid. My husband was not even given clean towels, he had to ask for them twice. This hotel is a disgrace and never would I recommend it to anyone. They charge top dollar and provide nothing.

Dear Laura C, Thank you for providing your feedback. I would like to offer my sincerest apologies. I am so sorry you are sick with Covid and have to handle this type of situation. I can absolutely understand how frustrating this can be. This type of situation is a very rare occurrence. We have a very strict credit card policy which prevents issues like this from arising. I would like to take a moment to explain what happened. When the front desk agent slid your husband's credit card the machine malfunctioned and did not save his information. The agent did not realize this and so the system automatically authorized your credit card. The next day your husband realized this, came to the desk to get the issue resolved, and this is when his credit card was authorized. Normally it takes 5-7 business days for the hold to come off your account but to expedite the process; you can call the bank and dispute the hold. We did in fact get your hold released this way within a few days. I think it is very important I clear the air here. We do not believe nor tolerate double charging our guests. I would like to sincerely apologize that your husband did not have his room cleaned throughout his stay. He was in fact informed that if he wanted service he was more than welcome to let us know and we would absolutely accommodate him. Covid-19 regulations have drastically reduced our ability to offer services that used to come automatically with a hotel stay. For this I sincerely apologize. Please note I have also spoken with the housekeeper in question and used your feedback as a learning opportunity. Our guests should never have to ask twice for things. That's inexcusable. Again my sincerest apologies you had to deal with all this. We here at the Fairfield in Malta feel absolutely terrible this experience has caused you so much stress. For this reason your husband's last night with us was on the house. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do for you and your family to make this up to you. This is a very modern hotel, superbly appointed, and located just off I-87 9 miles or 15 mins South of Saratoga Springs. The cooked breakfast was great and real china, glass and silverware were used. Very friendly, comfortable, a wonderful hotel.

Quick decision to stop en route from Adirondacks to SE MA because I was falling asleep. Patrick from the front desk was very helpful moving me from an access room (nose is attuned to pick up all smells, including possible service dog.) Thanks, Patrick!

The cancelation policy at this hotel is 7 days and not the Marriott standard of 48 hours. We were charged a one night stay of $300 after trying to cancel 5 days prior.
The kicker is that we booked 2 rooms, and canceled one. We were at the hotel, and the hotel was completely booked, and management still did not budge. We won't be back.
As Marriott Members we called Marriott customer support and they could not help us as it appears this hotel acts independently and does not follow the Marriott cancelation policy.
Make sure you check the cancelation policy before booking!!!

Dear letterbox123, I apologize if you were unaware of the hotel cancellation policy when you made and confirmed your resevations. We do have a stricter cancellation policy during the Saratoga Summer season. Just like any Marriott hotel, we set our rates and cancelation policies according to the business needs. As you stated, we have a 7 day cancellation policy during the summer. I do hope that you were able to enjoy the hotel while you were here.

It was a great hotel. Very clean. Nice size rooms with additional amenities of microwave, and fridge/freezer. They had coffee/ tea, etc., available all day. Included with your stay was a full breakfast which included a nice hot breakfast buffet. Yummy! Staff was very friendly. I would definitely come back to stay here again!

We stayed at this hotel with two couples for an overnighter on the way up to Vermont. This particular night that we stayed, the carbon monoxide detector went off and the hotel had to evacuate at 3:30am. We all felt that the manner in which this was handled was not very professional and also no apology for the inconvenience was ever offered to any of us. The hotel is in an excellent location directly off the I-87, but unfortunately that is the extent of my positivity. It is a very ordinary, older Fairfield with a staff that didn’t seem as though they cared too much. Luckily, it was the only Marriott property in our 6 night trip that we were disappointed in. On our next trip up to VT in October, we will definately choose a different stopover property.

I absolutely can empathize with your situation because I too received a call and had to come down to the hotel. It is not pleasant. I can also relate to not getting enough sleep. I too would not be happy camper. Please note we have used this feedback as a teachable moment for all of our staff. We have been staying here for a number of years when visiting family nearby. It's reliably comfortable and quite convenient to nearby locations, including Saratoga Springs and Albany. It's close to the thruway with some minimal traffic noise outside, but the rooms are quiet. Several grocery + dining options are within easy walking distance. The new renovations put a spiffy 2022 spin on the "2000s-era Fairfield" layout, which in some ways I prefer (e.g., the king suites have the bed toward the window rather than lodged in the interior of the suite as in newer Fairfields).
The standout feature here is the friendly staff and exceptional service. Teresa and Bella at the front desk were extremely kind and helpful this visit, including connecting two stays and orchestrating a Titanium Elite upgrade.
