Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
It’s important to know that sometimes location trumps the little details. This hotel is just a short subway ride (or you can take the ferry and tram from Roosevelt island!) from midtown Manhattan. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The rooms need work, damage at the bottom of the bathroom door, wallpaper peeling at the edges. The breakfast was bagels, cream cheese, cereal bars and fruit, coffee/tea/milk. Nothing fancy. BUT, if you can look beyond that, for the price of this hotel and the beautiful walkway along the river with the NYC skyline, it’s worth it. The beds were comfy, the room was clean. I unfortunately forgot to take photos of the room but I took photos from the walkway. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel for four nights. The hotel is conveniently located at a walking distance from the subway,15 minute subway trip takes you to Manhattan. Hotel offers free breakfast which is good. Rooms are ok, with air conditioning, a mini fridge and a security box to store items while away. I would recommend to stay here if you are willing to use public transportation and avoid other more expensive accommodation costs compared to staying in Manhattan.

I've stayed here before. I thought I would update my opinions based on this most recent visit. Understand that this is not a luxury hotel. It's a pretty basic lodging in a neighborhood of warehouses, taxi garages, a quaint retail strip, and film/TV studios. Gantry Park, overlooking the East River and Manhattan Island, is a short walk away. And Citigroup has its main office here, near the subway stop. But the hotel management has recently taken the step of sealing off the hotel room windows. Can't open them and you have to use the air system to somehow ventilate the room. This was not satisfactory to my health and after 5 nights of this, left with a very sore throat and chest congestion. Otherwise, I was treated well. Housekeeping might do a better job of refilling the bath amenities and understand the difference between shampoo and conditioner. There's no free breakfast here and the on-site restaurant isn't very good. As I said, there is a commercial district on Vernon with a host of restaurants to fill in some of your meals. And if you use the E subway, you'll find a Key Foods supermarket on the corner. Parking will cost you and with the construction of more apartments in the area, free street parking is hard to come by now. E train, two streets away, is one stop into Manhattan as is the 7 which you can catch about a mile down Vernon. The 103 bus runs the Vernon commercial strip but only about every 30 minutes. So if you walk to the 7, budget 20 minutes. If you're looking to explore a little, the G train (find it through the E train platform), gets you into Brooklyn real quick and stops pretty close to Barclays Center.

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever visited. I arrived at check in time and had a dispute with a heavy accent man the hotel required a $200 security deposit I believe $50 a night which means if I stood 14 days it would be 14 x $50. Lucky for me I only needed 4 days I swiped my debit card almost 8 times and the machine that reads the card was not working , I told the gentleman if he could try the other machine/computer that was unoccupied he said no and continued to prompt me to swipe my card I then stated to the man if the machine did not work this last time I will not swipe my card again for security purposes. This sent the man off the top he rudely told me “You do not have to stay at this hotel you can leave right now” I was totally shocked I explained to the man if the machine ruins my card I will not have no money in nyc the man did not care I asked for a manager to deescalate the situation and the man ignored my request. Fear of getting stranded in nyc I abide with the hotels rules he then stated the card I was using was declined when I was 100% positive the card had money and worked. I used a credit card next and it went threw finally. I then go upstairs to a room that was not worth the $164 a night mold everywhere stains on sheets holes in walls wallpaper coming off the wall broken ice machine in hallway walls paper thin I went down stair and requested a manager again requested denied I called customer service to complain at this time I ran into the manager who stated I could get a full refund if I did not like the room it’s been 3 weeks and I still have not got my $200 security deposit back do not stay here horrible staff and hotel the only thing they have going from them is the bridge going into Manhattan the neighborhood is industrial and there is no parking hotel uses this to there advantage and charges $25 a night to park your car.

I would not stay at this hotel again, and do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. The water pressure was very poor, hot water came after running the hot water for 5-7 minutes. When I made my reservation, I was told there would be free parking, however upon check-in I was told parking would be $30.00 per night. The only reason I booked this hotel was for the supposedly free parking.

Terrible experience. I arrived after midnight and was hoping to find a room. They didn't have one for the night which is understandable. However, I purchased two upcoming nights and sat in the lobby for 10 minutes before being removed like I was a vagrant. This is after the gentlemen behind the counter said I can hang around for 30 minutes and gave me the wifi. I've recommended this place numerous times in the past to visiting clients and friends. Never again. There are better hotels within walking distance that are far nicer. I was treated like I didn't matter at all. Which is not how hotels are supposed to treat paying customers.

This stay was fine. The room was ok, although worn down in some areas. Our room was not cleaned during our 2 night stay. I'm not sure what the policy is or if we needed to request that, but I didn't see any information about that in the room, nor did anyone mention it when we checked in. The breakfast was some plastic-wrapped bagels, bananas, yogurt, a coffee machine, and a juice machine. It was so bad my husband and I decided to skip it and go out for bagels instead.

I had stayed once before at this hotel with no problems. And yes, it is not up to par with Marriott but it was then clean and sufficient to be close to the city. But this time, after arriving late and straight to be awoke to a shower that trickled cold water. The front desk did say they could get someone but I couldn't wait for that as we were heading to meet family. I then got a good look at the room, the furniture had whitish mold on it both the bureau and the desk, the bed skirt also had white powder mildew on it - it was like I was in a 2nd rate motel. I have emailed 3x with no response from management or Wyndham themselves, terrible customer service. I will not pursue a reward program as I will likely not stay at another Wyndham after this experience.

The hotel is ok and nicely located. The rates ($300/day in our case) are way above the quality of the rooms (small and a little old) and service (lame breakfast, no transportation available). I would not stay there again at these prices.

Hotel looked unkempt, wifi was not working and heating was broken - was super cold during my stay. Worse thing was how rude and unhelpful front desk staff were - on top of it they had poor communication between them. One staff member granted me late checkout and then the other couldn’t find a note and kicked me out of the room early
Would recommend avoiding

Good Day, Thank you for your question. We are definitely kid/family friendly. When you go to make a reservation it will ask you how many adults and how many children in the room. I am sorry I can't put a screen shot on here, but yes you can come with your 5 year old. Always book rooms at any hotel direct at the hotels brand website as you will always find the best rate and booking direct makes it possible to help us with your booking vs. booking a 3rd party where we are not allowed to make adjustments on those reservations. If you can please contact us 646-835-0874 so we can provide you with an email so you can send us a screenshot as to the site you say the 16 year old age requirement so we can correct that false information. This page will not let me post our email address...sorry...We appreciate you contacting us and pointing this information out to us. Have a wonderful day.
