Staff is attentive the hotel is well maintained and the breakfast is a cut above any hotel at this price point. It is located near a subway and only one stop from Manhattan. You are 20 minutes from Penn Station.

I travel to NYC a lot for work and this Hotel is near three of my company's current locations which is why I first picked it to stay. As a regular traveler there are a couple things I've gotten a little more picky about when it comes to hotels and this hotel met and exceeded expectations.
1. THE SHOWER DOESN'T LEAK; Most hotels have curtains or glass doors that don't keep the water in the shower well so the entire bathroom floor gets wet. This Hyatt doesn't have that problem at all!
2. Chromecast is the streaming tool they use so you can just link up your phone and get to watching TV, you don't have to type in any passwords or emails.
3. I couldn't hear anything outside my hotel room.

First, I’ve been here over a week so have some insight into operation. Overall, I think it is an outstanding value. Compared to manhattan less than 3 miles away, I think you might pay 3x for similar accommodations.

There’s not a big support staff behind the front desk so patience is best but they are responsive. Note that my experience is during the pandemic so law prevents use of fitness room, business center or breakfast. I’m not sure this lack of amenities is reflected in the price but seems that instead of sad sack bags they give you with convenience store pastry, tiny water bottle and an orange instead of breakfast, I would have appreciated a voucher for use at the market 1 block away.

Major deduction- thin walls. You can hear your neighbors EVERYTHING. No need to get more explicit than that. Even normal voice conversation is audible from adjacent rooms.

Thank here are about 10 parking spots for guests at the rear off the street at a very reasonable rate, about 1/2 of which are covers from the weather. If you have your own vehicle, jumping off to area locations/ attractions make if worthy of consideration.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Neighborhood is not very attractive but for what you get, a great value.

First time staying here and it was almost perfect. It was a nice and relatively quiet location, with some nearby food and coffee spots, and also a nearby subway station. Driving to/from Manhattan was really never a big issue and always averaged 15-20 minutes. Breakfast was really convenient. It is really simple so don't expect anything fancy, but if you're not a big breakfast person, this will be more than enough to get you going before lunch. The rooms were nice and tidy, furniture didn't seem old, beds were comfortable, AC was always cold, shower always had hot water, and housekeeping was quick if we ever needed something to be cleaned or thrown out.

The stay would've been absolutely perfect aside from these two drawbacks:

(1) Although the rooms did a surprisingly good job of keeping noise out from the outside, even with construction next door and a highway right behind the building, the door to our room couldn't really block the noise from the hallway. I was able to hear people walking past our door and anyone having conversations pretty clearly. Obviously, this wasn't a constant thing so it was easy to forget, but it was noticeable.

(2) Parking situation needs improvement. It seemed pretty straightforward for securing a spot on a Monday when they were slow. They give you a pass to display on your dashboard and they "assign" you a parking stall and charge your car $30 for each night. But enforcement is definitely lacking. Once the weekend hit and more cars came in, our stall got taken and they "reassigned" us a new spot. By the second time my spot got taken, they just resorted to telling me to park wherever was open since they already put up the "parking lot is full" sign. I was still able to park there for my whole stay, so I want to say they just track how many occupants requested a stall, and once they reach a max, they put the sign up and you technically just park anywhere. But the fact that street parking was non-existent and parking didn't feel guaranteed made me uneasy since having a car for my stay was non-negotiable.

We stayed at this hotel for eight nights while we went to the US Open tennis tournament. Instead of staying at Times Square like last year, we decided to stay someplace closer to the tennis complex. Overall the hotel was great, some minor negatives but we highly recommend it.

We arrived at the hotel from LaGuardia Airport. We took Lyft and the cost on a Saturday afternoon (3:30 pm) was about $35.00. The drive took about 10 minutes. Since we had multiple suitcases, we did not take the public transportation from the airport, but I am sure that is possible.

Checking in was standard, we booked a regular room, without a sofa bed. I was hoping to be upgraded but no luck. The room ended up being okay for the two of us. During check in, we were given two bottles of water, due to my status I was told I could receive the two bottles every day, but it had to be picked up at the front desk.

Housekeeping Service: We were told this can be done every day, we did not have to request the service. We ended up not using it.

Room: The room was fairly spacious for the two of us. It had a dorm size refrigerator and several drawers to store your clothes.

Breakfast: The first morning we went to the area next to the front desk and there were a number of guests already there. As some people have mentioned on this website, the breakfast is pretty plain, nothing very elaborate. If you wanted something to just get into your stomach to hold you off to lunch than the breakfast would be fine. If you are looking for an omelet station than you will be disappointed. Throughout our eight days the selection was the same every day.

Location: There are several grocery stores, restaurants, and take out places within a 5–10 minute walk from the hotel. The closest subway station was Queensboro Plaza (5-10 minute walk) or the Queens Plaza. We used the Queensboro Plaza since we used the 7 train the most. Between the hotel and the subway station are several condos and townhomes so the walk felt safe but like anyplace you just be aware of your surroundings. There is a Trader Joe's and the Court Square Diner near the Court Square station. On the 7 train, it took about 15 minutes to get to Times Square.

Checking Out: We checked out at about 4:30 am, for some reason the front desk person could not be found. Instead, we checked out online and took a Lyft back to LaGuardia.

Overall, the Hyatt Place Long Island was great for us since we spent most of our trip in Queens. If you are planning to visit the tourist areas in Manhattan, it might be better to stay in the Manhattan area. However, price and convenience this was a great hotel.

The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very comfortable. I was disappointed with the breakfast as it was not Covid safe. Also none of the front desk or parking attendants were wearing masks. I also had requested parking on my reservation which was not honored. Make sure to arrive early for check in if you want to park at the hotel. We had to park in a parking garage and were charged $16.00 for the one hour that we had our car parked in the garage. We found another garage which was $24.00 for overnight parking.

I stayed here while between apartments, and it is convenient/easy to get anywhere in the city (esp Central Park/Midtown, about 20 mins door to door). I'm super picky about cleanliness, but the hotel is very clean. The bed and sheets were all neat/clean, and I felt very comfortable. There's a large TV also and my double room also had a sofa. I wish there had been a wider range of room service options (especially veggie), but the food I did order was very good. If you haven't spent a lot of time in NY, I can see how the neighborhood might appear a little sketchy at night (it can get quiet), but it really is as safe as anywhere you might stay in the city. I do think it's a great value for the area. There are some really nice local restaurants as well, like Tacombi across the street, JACX food court around the corner, No Stress coffee just steps away (great croissants), Luzzo's (margherita pizza $8 carryout), and Indie LIC for breakfast/lunch. Book Culture is around the corner and a great option for bringing friends and family souvenirs they will actually want! Small tip: Get bottled water at the bodega, the hotel charges $3, which adds up. But a great value overall, plus nice staff too!

This hotel is a gem in a city where quality service and cleanliness can be hard to come by. The staff is nice, amenities consistent, communication was frequent and transparent. The location is also perfect if you need to get to Manhattan as there are trains nearby and a taxi is 15 minute ride across the bridge. I travel for business and use this hotel frequently.

Needed to attend a family memorial service in Brooklyn. Looked for somewhere clean, newer, reasonably priced and with easy access to parking. I was incredibly pleased with the $105/night rack rate and a $26 overnight parking charge - both were substantially lower than had I been across the river. I've paid 4-5 times that amount for much lesser accomodations in NYC. I would consider staying here again even if my reason for the trip was focused on Manhattan.

Terrible check-in experience. Front desk confirmed rooms are available but then tells us there’s a $50 early check-in fee? We’ve been staying in Hyatts for years and have elite status and have literally never once heard of this. Sure, sometimes rooms aren’t ready. But to literally turn someone away that clearly needs a room, when one is available, seems like a new service low. What does it hurt them to have someone check in a bit early? Not the welcome we were looking for. Won’t be back.

It takes around 20-25 minutes including the short walk from the hotel to the Queensboro plaza station. You don’t have to switch trains.

The rooms do not have microwaves, only small refrigerators. The front desk had access to a microwave before the virus hit, but I don't know whether accessibility to this is still an option.
