Our organization held an event in Queens in mid-September 2019. When searching online I came upon this hotel which was reasonably priced. I, and several other people from my organization, booked rooms there. And what a surprise!! The room was extremely nice, loved the decor. It was conveniently located. During my four day stay I went into Manhattan every day; the subway was about a block away. There was a very nice conference area/breakfast room downstairs. The front desk staff was very friendly. Will definitely stay there again if in the area!!

Long weekend getaway! Great stay/view/location. Friendly staff, very clean! Very nice restaurant located inside (Pilot House). We did have a nice comfy/spacious room with a living room area, if that’s what you want to call it that included 2 TVs. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is by far better than the 3 stars it got. I have traveled a lot and stayed in many hotels and this place is better than some of my 5 stars. The lobby is very small, so no lingering there. Perfect. Wonderful staff from Front Desk to the Breakfast people to the Housekeeping.

We where on a business trip, and the MG of a Choice property booked this hotel, based on its 4 stars. When we checked in the front desk employee copied our drivers license and credit card, why? The next morning we ask for the copies back and the explanation as to why they copy the credit card. We were told they needed it for incidentals, we said why when you already have our card on file, the story then changed to, the night auditor needs it then shreds it. When we ask for it back, we had to wait for the manager to come in to get them for us, needless to say it was never shredded, we did get them back.
Now for the next scary thing, one of the women in our group was sleeping when around 11:30 her room phone rang, startled she did not answer it. About 5 minutes later someone opened her door and dead bolt without knocking or giving a verbal warning, she jumped out of bed to see a man running down the hall and down the stairs. Frightened to death she locked up the room and put furniture against the door, and didn’t sleep.
The next morning we mentioned this to the manager, who got our copies, and he just said “I will have to ask the guy who was on last night, and give you a call. No apology, no call, no nothing!!!
BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My experience at The Vue was overall good. The room was clean, we had friendly staff - but the room I stayed in just had some odd design choices.

Quick hit: Good, clean hotel with smaller rooms. Would be 4/5 if not for the bathroom design that led to whole room steaming up during showers and water getting on the bathroom floor.

More details:

The room itself:

- The average:
-- On the smaller side, but not unusual for a NYC-area hotel. There was a large bench in the room that took up a bit too much space for such tight quarters, but we had a mini-fridge, TV, little closet, that were nice to have.

-The good
-- Bed was comfortable! Lots of non-decorative pillows, which was great.
-- Liked the USB/outlets right above the night stands. Easy access charging.
-- Clean!
-- Automated blinds totally blocked out any light

- The weird
-- The bathroom was separated by a frosted glass partition, which I've seen before in other hotels and isn't my favorite thing, but we knew that going in, The issue was that the door to the bathroom wasn't really sealed - there were large gaps between it and the walls and the bottom of the door. As a result when we took showers, the whole room got very humid. We had to run the A/C while showering to dehumidify the room as the bathroom vent wasnt up to the task.
-- The partition for the shower was small (maybe covered 1/3 of the entrance) so the rest was left open to the rest of the bathroom. The result was a good amount of water making it out of the shower. I'd normally reuse a towel but we used them all, every day, just keeping the floor dry.

The rest of the hotel
- Check in was easy and quick
- Everything was very clean.
- Free breakfast was good. Cereal, little pastries, eggs, sausage.
- One block from the F train, quick trip into manhattan.
- Was able to find street parking relatively easily within a block of the hotel.

I trusted all the positive reviews and now wonder how many are fake. I was given a room on the 2nd floor facing the elevator and with the subway right outside my window. Between the constant noise from both sides I couldn't sleep at all. They told me there were no other rooms left. On Day 2 I was given a new room, quieter but with no working wifi. One of the ladies at the front desk is also very arrogant and rude. There is only one elevator in the whole hotel. Parking is a nightmare. If you are lucky enough to find a spot on nearby streets (one night I parked a 10 minute walk away) you will likely have to move your car by 7am. I travel frequently and had stopped bothering to write reviews all the time until today. I booked this place because of all the good reviews on Tripadvisor and I found out the hard way that they do not reflect reality.

Booked a non smoking room and requested for a quiet room but the room smelled like smoke and The room was beside the maintenance room and the workers keep on opening and closing the door which made it very noisy. Breakfast was supposed to be until 10am but when we went down, there was no food left. The attendant said all food were gone. When other customers complained she took a fresh box of pastries out from the trash room, apparently she was hiding it there to probably take home. No refills on the Pancake batter and other food items.
This is actually my 2nd time staying at the vue. Both times the service is very disappointing. The 1st time, check in took more than an hour. We arrived around 2pm and requested for early check in, was informed it would take 30 minutes so we waited. It turned out it took more than an hour. We got in our room around 4pm. During breakfast we saw the workers with bags taking the food for themselves, which is why we were not suprised that the 2nd time we were there she had food hidden in the trash room. The service is really bad. It seems like it is not a hotel with how the front desk and the food attendant work. Also the hotel only has 1 elevator and it takes forever!

This is a very new hotel, which should have been an enjoyable place. However, a lesson is that, you can't judge a hotel by its cover.

There are so many issues when we I checked in the first room. Sticky grounds, defective AC, etc. The biggest problem is that, the staff is very rude and tried to cause a conflict. I have never seen a hotel staff doing in this way.

When I first stepped into the room, I felt something sticky on the ground even when I was just in my running shoes. At the meantime, the AC is not functioning, (it was quite cold that day). TV shows strange message. Given these issues, I came downstairs by myself to ask for information to turn of the TV, as well as requesting a cleaning on the second day.

I think I had been very nice, and asking for a cleaning on the second day should never be some overwhelming requests. While a rude woman called Monica (or similar, I cannot really tell as she said that very vaguely) stepped into that and tried to claim that "It is clean" and they cleaned that properly in a very unfriendly and unhelpful tone, which was definitely not true as per the picture I attached.

During the entire conversation she repeatedly told me that the room was cleaned properly, even she stepped into the guest room by volunteer and see exactly the sticky spots. She again claimed the room has no problem after I told her the AC was not functioning even if it took her more than 5 minutes to figure out how to reactivate the AC. After that she told me she would change me the room and told me "every room could be like this" and "I will not clean it better tomorrow if you do not change".

All the conversation made by the woman is very rude and lack of respect. Again from the beginning, I was just asking for a cleaning on the second day. She jumped into a friendly conversation between me and the front desk gentleman. And finally she blamed me to blow up these ‘small issues’.

While after that the management team is even worse. I made a complaint immediately on the second morning to the front desk staff, as well as through the choice hotel corporation. No one contacted me for a whole week via any method after I insisted to talk with the manager.

At the moment, the staff at the check out did apologize, which made me consider to pay another try on the week after. That stay was worse. I also had a chance to talk with the general manager this time. While as he claimed he would try to get into the case and get back to me. I never heard back for another week.

I must admit I can't be more stupid to give it another chance. From the management to the hotel staff (the team during the night shift). No one cares about the guest. They just act like they were the boss. I don't know why it had a 4(even 4.5 previously) star. I believe the service was really the worst ever given my long hotel trip experience. Also note that they do sent out surveys after stay but they replies all the survey with copy paste message from the manager what ever how poor people feels about the stay, which shows exactly their attitude on the guests.

Back to the hotel itself. Maybe the only advantage for this hotel is that the location is good. However, it is very noisy in the morning because the thin wall. Only one elevator that makes people wait more than 15 minutes during the rush hours. Breakfast ends earlier than stated. Misleading information during reservation. The picture below also shows the "room with view" as per I booked.

The room is small but it has everything we need. The front desk ladies in the morning were very kind and nice. I have to give 1 star because the night guy named Khan is the main problem. He is very very rude and unprofessional. He would treat us differently because he said we paid less. When we ask for help with our bathroom door since we can’t open it, he didn’t come up and help. I went down to the lobby asking for help no one was there. I went back to my room and called down asking for help again since my friend started to vomit. He picked up the phone telling us to use the lobby restroom and called me a b ..tch because he said we were loud. I went down to talk to him. He said get the f ..k to your room. I don’t understand how can a guy called a guest a b..itch since I didn’t do anything wrong. Just asking for help to open the bathroom door. Also room is next the maintenance room on 7th floor. Housekeepers will go in and out to get their cart in the morning at 8:30AM which wake us up every morning. We never complain about that since we paid less we already know we will be put the bad room. This hotel needs to train the employees regarding customer services. No matter what you don’t call your guest a b.. tch and get the f ..ck to your room”.

While the rooms at The Vue are tiny, they are immaculately clean and provide all that you need for a New York stay. Manhattan is expensive for accommodation so our choice of a hotel located just one block from the Metro (21st Queen St) in neighbouring Long Island City meant that we could be at any of the famous Manhattan attractions in 30 minutes. In a city not famous for service, the hotel staff at The Vue were friendly and helpful and informative of where we needed to go for transport and dinner and to buy late night snacks. Bravo.
