I actually visited in September 2019, however due to travelling all over the world for the last 12 months, I am just in the process of writing all the reviews. This is my second stay in the LIC Hotel and it was just as good as the last one! The rooms are clean and BED BUG FREE with a safe and complimentary water. The bathroom was also very clean with a very powerful shower. Breakfast is included in the price and offer both hot and cold options with plenty of choice. It’s only a 15 minute subway ride into Manhattan and the subway station is only a 2 minute walk down the street which was perfect. I will definitely return again!

Stayed here just before Christmas and found a little gem of a hotel. First impressions in the lobby and of the breakfast area arent great but is that a downside? Not at all.
Rooms are comfortable and clean with a big bed and good size tv.
Breakfast was the same each day but when only staying for 5 nights it wasnt a problem. The location of the hotel is excellent, within a 5 minute walk of the nearest subway which takes you straight into Manhattan.

100% Would stay again

Booked this hotel based on its very reasonable price and its proximity to Manhattan. Turns out it completely exceeded our expectations. We were very impressed by the friendly staff, the great breakfast, the cheap parking, and the cleanliness of the property. An added bonus was the subway stop was about a one minute walk away and one stop away from Downtown. Also there's a rooftop patio with an awesome view. The rooms were small but the pictures on the website were completely accurate so we knew exactly what we were getting. Plus the price was about a third of what we would pay across the river. You can also take the ferry into town (a nightime cruise along the East River under the Brooklyn Bridge with all the lights of the city for $2.75) and there's four excellent craft breweries all within a few blocks of the hotel. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We stayed there for two weeks in October 2019, it means before all the pandemic restrictions and new conditions. We hope for the possibility to come back.
LIC is a standard hotel offering standard services and everything worked well. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The WIFI worked properly.
The added value of the hotel is the location and external spaces. The subway station is around the corner, the city center you can reach in few minutes. The grocery is just around the corner as well. The roof top area is amazing! You can bring your own food there or have drink and observe the evening skyline. Definitely recommend!
The breakfast is the basic US type. For us Europeans it was quite monotonous. Hardly to expect vegetables, cheese or salami. That is why we have chosen for several times to have our breakfast at Court Square Diner - they offer great variety of breakfast types (be aware of huge portions :)
Generally we were satisfied.

One of the better values for the money. You can be three short train stops from Grand Central but not pay Manhattan prices.

It’s right on the 7 line which takes you to the Mets stadium and the US Open tennis champs. Walking distance to the MOMA PS1 museum.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The workout room had ellipticals and two stationary bikes that had a great adjustments for seat height, fore & aft as well as handlebar height & fore and aft.

The queen room was average size for NYC rooms. The furniture was pretty cheap. Painted black and less than what you’d get at an IKEA. For example the safe was in the bottom dresser drawer which completely fell out when you tried to use the safe.

The breakfast was above average for free hotel buffets.

We’d stay again.

The room was very spacious (especially compared to others we had on the trip). There was plenty of room to keep our bags, spread out a bit and still move around without falling over! The rooms do need a little love and attention though, the sink tap barely ran water (basically a trickle) and the power point next to the bed was quite dangerous (loose and coming out of the wall). The shower pressure was good though - that’s always important for us! They have breakfast included (starting from 6:30am) but for me the options were very limited (I’m coeliac and need completely gluten free). I found it ironic that there was a poster in the dining area that called out the listen allergens and how important it is to manage them but then don’t really take steps to manage/understand them. It was a real missed opportunity as the bagels were all individually packaged anyway, so it wouldn’t hurt to have a small gluten free range available (even in request so you need to ask for it). On that basis (and that the team couldn’t give me confidence that cross-contamination would be managed for other items) I was limited to boiled eggs, yoghurt and an apple. Still provided a decent breakfast to start the day (especially as it was included) but could be even better! You can access tea, coffee, water and bagels at anytime during your stay (but the water dispenser was broken while we were there)! Also, while the wi-fi worked, it was very slow most of the time! Really convenient location, several subway stations nearby so really easy to travel to different parts of NYC that you want to see

Great value hotel. Room was clean and included a fridge, good air conditioning, decent wi-fi, comfortable bed. Breakfast was reasonable and included toast, scrambled eggs and a few other bits and bobs. Location was perfect for me; walk a few minutes to subway trains with relatively easy routes to JFK Air Train, Manhattan (quick journeys to Time Square, Grand Central Terminal and even across on the 7-train to The High Line, etc.) and G train to Brooklyn. Access to the roof terrace was a nice benefit at this hotel with great views of the Queensboro Bridge and across to Manhattan skyline. I'd definitely recommend this as an awesome alternative to Manhattan so long as you're comfortable riding the subway.

It's a very clean and confortable place where to stay. Just one block of the E & M subways and only 2 from the G and the 7 train. Complementary breakfast is offered every morning with an acceptable variety. It's quiet to rest and the shower is amazing. You'd want one like this one for your house.

This is a great location for a visit to Manhattan.

You are just over the East river and the hotel is a five minute walk from the Court Square subway - this is then a ten minute ride on the E, M or 7 trains into central Manhattan - which costs $2.75.

The hotel is clean and the rooms comfortable. Breakfast is OK but not a great variety.

Shower is room is great.

Found the staff a bit off-hand and could have been friendlier and more helpful.

Not happy with a $100 charge being taken as a "damage security deposit". Every other hotel takes a swipe only for incidentals. The practice is more akin to staying in a youth hostel than a hotel.

Wifi worse than useless.

If coming back from Manhattan take e train turn right when you exit train and you can see hotel from exit.. We got lost late at night and never unsafe.. The area is currently going through a gentrification process with lots of little independent shops popping up .
