I booked for 17 days stay, however, I was very frustrated and disappointed with the type of service that I left after two days and find me another hotel in SBMA,

First of all, I was not informed of construction going on besides the hotel not until I checked-in and my room was facing the construction area. There was noise even late at night, 10pm on Saturday night.

I could not make a local call, neither call the front desk. So I went down to the front desk and reported that my phone was not working. I explained, I used the instruction on the face of the phone that stated dial "4"for local call and the "Front Desk" button to make the calls. The personnel in the front desk explained that I should dial "2" first for local call and dial "o" for front desk. Then "why not put that on the phone instruction so there's no confusion" I said, but I only get blank stares from the front desk personnel and seem they could not understand the problem... they did not do anything about it..

I was made to sign that the "Hotel is not responsible for any valuable lost inside the room", and was advised to use the safe "box" in the room. However, I found that the safe "box" was not bolted down on the shelf in the cabinet and can easily be taken away, so I complain about that. The front desk send their personnel and that person explained that to bolt it down will take a while besides there's a camera in the hall way. Then "it'll be too late if somebody take away the safe, and why not focus on making the safe secure", I said. She only agreed to do my request to bolt the safe down when I insisted... but that did not happen I was offered to move to another room which I accepted.

The new room I was given, I found out that the shower drain was clogged (it was cleared by their maintenance personnel...)

The internet WIFI connection was so bad you could hardly connect or get a good reception.

The door to the fitness room was broken, wallpaper feeling off in my room, not the things you would expect for a hotel which has only opened for six months.

I was not informed that there was a road closing on the intersection where the parking lot of the hotel is adjacent to, and it was difficult to get out of the parking lot because of the traffic.

I was so frustrated and disappointed that second day of my stay I started looking for another hotel and checked out the next day.

Very, very poor service and management and not really ready yet to give quality accommodation and service...

LOCATION
Best Western Subic is a new hotel located just behind Royal Choices Duty Free Shopping. It's within walking distance (or a very short drive) to Harbor Point Mall, Lighthouse and the other restaurants/bars along the Marina bayfront. It's off the main road and the relative lack of establishments around the area makes for quiet and peaceful surroundings. It's for this reason why it's a smart choice if you're bringing kids - the area doesn't turn into a party zone at night and stays pretty wholesome throughout. If you're looking for action, it's pretty boring here.

ROOMS
Deluxe Queen's 2 Queen-Sized beds can easily fit a family of 4 with enough room to put an extra bed and still have space to move around. The bathroom is also just as spacious. The beds are very comfortable.

DINING
Breakfast is at Spencer's which is relatively OK. They do have a good Chinese restaurant in their premises called Fortune, but if you're looking for a more choices, you might need to take your car and go to the aforementioned restaurants along the bayfront or at nearby Harbor Point Mall. You can self-cater and buy groceries at Royal Choices which also has a Mongolian buffet inside the premises.

SERVICE
This is where Best Western needs to improve. Front desk and housekeeping need more training - be it professionalism, handling requests and efficiency. When asked why our room wasn't yet cleaned despite it's already late in the afternoon, front desk replied "it's because we have 60 rooms, sir". It may be a valid reason, but proper training would teach them to answer not with excuses, but with action. Maybe the reason why the room wasn't cleaned yet is most of the housekeeping staff tend to goof around. When we pass by rooms being cleaned, we often see them chatting around and seemingly taking their time. They also need to train them not to leave used sheets lying around the hallway, as if it's the annex of the storage room. They should take their cue from the doormen and security personnel in front of the hotel who knows how to attend to their guests' needs in a professional and courteous manner.

FACILITIES
The hotel has a rooftop infinity pool that's worth the stay. Parking is plentiful in front of the hotel and in the rare case space runs out, the helpful and friendly security people will help you find one.

Highly appreciated that this hotel is pet friendly and has no frills with regards to this.
Rooms were spacious
Gym is clean
Swimming pool was always packed with guests
Buffet breakfast was OK
The downside was the parking space which if you’re unlucky will be on a dirt path on the side of the hotel

This is my go to hotel when I visit Subic, not just because I am a BWP member. This is one of the more modern hotels in the Freeport Zone. The staff is always really friendly and helpful. They are pricier than other hotels near them but I think the quality of the hotel,, amenities, and staff make up that price difference. Will be returning there soon.

I had to visit a friend in Subic so I decided to stay here for an overnight.

I'm a Best Western Rewards member, so while writing this, I do compare it to the other BW properties I've stayed at.

The checkin experience was mostly good, although the porter had to run downstairs and get a new key as the initial one didn't seem to work.

The room itself is small but the decor is respectable and you can get a good night's sleep.

The hotel has a good on-site restaurant which I had a late dinner at. The breakfast is good too. No complaints there.

Internet is acceptable but not spectacular. Slow internet is par for the course in the Philippines where the main internet providers claim "fast" like it's a race between turtles.

My chief complaint is although the hotel is decent, having a price north of P5000 (Approx. $100 USD) is a bit much.

Might consider staying here again if they drop the price a bit.

We would like to thank you for choosing Best Western Plus Hotel Subic as your accommodation choice for your recent visit to Subic and for taking the time to share your comments with us. We have noted your comments about the keycard that unexpectedly didn’t work sometimes the RFID Program has a problem which we already rectified. We also take note on the Internet, We trully understand that the internet speed is quite slow but we also do take actions on each concerns of our guest as a matter of fact we already upgraded our bandwith allocation to each guest with backup ISP in case that the main ISP shutsdown As for the price, during your stay we are on high occupancy that’s why the price of the hotel room is quite high which the price on our system is automatically yielding. We hope this experience will not impair your trust in Best Western Plus Hotel Subic and that you will give us the opportunity of welcoming you again soon. Sincerely, Raymond Fujii General Manager Best Western Plus Hotel Subic

My wife and I traveled to see her mom and spent roughly 3 weeks here. Rooms are very nice and clean, the included breakfast choices were a very unexpected tasteful surprise. The bar served ice cold beer and cocktails, the pool area was fantastic with another bar. Many places to eat and walk to, the mall is very close about 2-3 minute shuttle ride or 10-15 minute walk. I would highly recommend this place if your in the SBMA area. I usually don't comment other other people's reviews but saw one here that stated the hotel is 14 years old which is NOT TRUE. We were here on another vacation roughly 4 years ago and construction was just completing. So when doing reviews I suggest knowing your facts, highly recommended hotel!!

Nice place to stay in SBMA. Second visit here, this time without the kids. Room was fine, albeit smaller compared to where we stayed before nonetheless okay for a couple. Easy access to Royal duty free shop beside the hotel. Chose to get UV taxi getting around lest you lose your parking spot. The hotel service vehicle can even drop you off when available. Good resto downstairs (Spencer's).

Just ask about transfer at the front desk and they would gladly assist you. Clark airport is about an hour from the hotel.
