The quality of the hotel went down since the last time we stayed there. The pillows were hard. The water was either ice cold or boiling hot. The breakfast was not great. Definitely the last time we’re staying here. The staff is pretty nice though. It’s out of their control but the music from nearby bars goes until the early morning and it’s hard to sleep. It’s a good location if you have no other options.

I really like The Terrace Hotel and I am a regular customer there. The rooms are nice and the linen is nice.. the beach front rooms are just that, with a lovely view of the clean esplanade and the bay.

The best part is the roof-top pool and the view from this is the best view of the bay available in Olongapo. It is also best view back the small ‘On-Base’ city itself (see my photo). The wonderful clean pool consists of different depths including very shallow, and this I really like for relaxing. It is really too good… as it attracts a lot of kids on the weekends. No parents are telling their children to ‘play quietly’ as I always remember being told to do as a kid. By 2:00pm on weekends it is always a kids screaming competition.

The rooftop deck pool and bar is serviced by the Weltz Restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The food is normally great, however I often have to remind them to serve it hot. Typically Filipino kitchens serve food cold because Filipinos don't mind that.. but I do. Try the Beef and Prawn Kebab, served with salad they are always terrific! Like almost everywhere in Philippines, (almost traditionally) these staff do not quickly remove the dirty plates and glasses.

Once I was eating at the Weltz restaurant itself downstairs, I asked for a Jack Daniels and coke double (2 nips is standard I thought).. this small drink came with a big bill for around 500peso. I questioned what I thought was a mistake and was horrified to hear they charged about 240p a nip, plus tax and service etc. Pretty mean considering a whole bottle of JD costs only around 850 peso in The Philippines, and this is a duty-free port.

The esplanade and the cleaning of it stops about 5 metres short of the water at the beach, and like the rest of the beach it is almost completely covered in rubbish. I have seen dead-dogs lapping in the waves here on two occasions.. don't believe me? Then check out the photographs! I am not sure why dead dogs accumulate on the beach in Olongapo. I have seen 4 in total, 2 of them outside this hotel, one outside Pier One and one at The Lighthouse. All in the area the SBMA (Subic Bay Metro Authority) is responsible for.

Whoever is maintaining the esplanade (I believe it is Moonbay Marina Hotel (see my other reviews) who hold the land-lease on the area down to and including Pier One) stop cleaning at the esplanade border. Don't bother to ask why.. I already know I would get a very typically Filipino answer ‘Thats the SBMA area.. their job to clean’.

Lots of good beachfront restaurants are around. The Pier One live-bands are really great entertainment (real talent) and just a very short walk. If you are in a beach-front room you can hear the bands until around midnight or 1:00pm. It was a bit annoying occasionally when I was looking for a quiet evening. Nothing a pair of ear-plugs wont fix… I carry them because I am quite noise-sensitive.

Another thing was noise coming from the conference room above. I believe the floors are constructed with timber not concrete… because once my room was located below where a conference was being held, and it was like I was inside a drum when they were moving the furniture around. I didn't complain however I herein bring this to the hotel managers attention - instruct your staff to be careful and quiet if you must be dragging furniture around in your conference rooms at night, please!

Over all I do recommend the Terrace Hotel. Typically delightful Filipino staff, and a well maintained hotel in a great location.

I hope this bit of information is helpful to you.. if so let me know by clicking the button, thanks!

This is our 1st very worst experience in a hotel, EVER! (DEC.24-26, 2017)

We've experienced to stay in almost all of the hotels in SUBIC and this is our 1st time to encounter such a very bad experience. We 1st stayed here last Feb.14, 2017 (overnight only). We stayed here for a short time only since we are outside celebrating valentine's day and the next day, we check-out as early as 6am.So our only complain then is that their bfast is really NOT GOOD, limited choices. We stayed at the terrace suite(in their website, they said the suite includes WELCOME FRUITS, but we didn't knew it until we checked-out, so we just let it pass by, NO WELCOME DRINKS also).

Few months later, we decided to stay here again this Christmas(with my family again) coz we want to experience to swim in their rooftop pool and to stay here longer since we only stay here for a very short time on our last stay. Upon arrival, the front desk officers are not really welcoming, don't smile that much and are only asking for the full payment. My mother said if we could rest first since my father is really tired that day, the reception said ok and let us fill out a form, and that's it. NO WELCOME DRINKS AGAIN(the reception the next day told us that they have welcome drinks, but for the 2nd time of our stay, there was none again). Then we went on our room, this time, we checked if there's already welcome fruit that is stated in their website, again we found NOTHING.We need to request it to their staff and even show them their WEBSITE to let them see that it is stated there. It so disgusting when simple things like that stated in their website is not there when you get there.

The next morning (DEC.25, 2017-CHRISTMAS DAY!). We REQUEST at the reception if we could take our 2 breakfast coupon for tomorrow in advance(dec.26) so we could eat altogether(we are 4 in the family) that day-we already have 2 breakfast coupon for that day dec.25 plus the 2 breakfast coupon for dec. 26-we did not purchase for extra bfast since our plan is to just advance the next 2 bfast coupons, because the next day, my father will be leaving so early(around 5 am) and we will not be able to eat bfast also since we have some errands to do- and since it is CHRISTMAS SEASON, we assume that our SIMPLE REQUEST be granted since we are just advancing the 2 coupons, also everytime we stay in SUBIC, we almost always check out very early so we are always requesting for either early purchase of our bfast, or if they could packed our bfast just so we can consume it since it is included in WHAT WE PAY(our request is ALWAYS GRANTED IN OTHER HOTELS). But the reception insisted that they have rules and you can only purchase the coupon on that day only, and cannot make an advance for the last 2 coupons. We told her if maybe they could give us consideration since it is CHRISTMAS and almost all of the hotels we've been through has always granted our request. But she is really as HARD as a stone, the answer we were expecting is that "wait ma'am i'll go check it" we even ask if we can talk to the manager but she said that there's no manager because they are on LEAVE,I ask maybe you can call her/someone to ask about it, her reply "it's too early to call them". SO if there's an emergency for example, if that's a different scenario, there will be no senior/manager around that you could talk to especially if it's too early-very unprofessional manner that we can't talk to anybody superior to the front desk officer to talk to our matter. We leave them and went to jog for a while. When we came back,my brother ask AGAIN if they can consider our VERY SIMPLE REQUEST but then it's still a NO. The staff now manages to call the manager-thank goodness! but the manager said that it's really their policy and they will just give us discount. To our disgust, we didn't accept the offer because we dont need the discount, what we only want is to HAVE A BREAKFAST WITH MY FAMILY AT THE SAME TIME USING THE 2 COUPONS ON THAT DAY AND THE 2 COUPONS ON THE NEXT DAY--again since our father will be leaving early the next day, so might as well use it that day. Because of that, our CHRISTMAS VACATION IS RUINED. We can actually pay for the extra bfast if we want, but we requested to use the coupons so we can eat at the same time and also praying for extra bfast that day is only a waste of money because the next day we are out, so we really want to use the other 2 coupons in advance. This is the first time that our simple request is not granted. FIRST TIME!! We ate bfast outside instead. Our parents use the 2 coupons inside their bar. The next day, we asked if we could just have our bfast packed coz we have to go somewhere else early (in other hotels, these simple requests are granted to us WITHOUT HESITATIONS by the front desk, they don't even ask their managers about it--that's how simple it is in OTHER HOTELS). Again, they said NO! They said they have policy again. We KNOW THAT ACTUALLY, but in every policy, there are exemptions and you will understand that if you will use your heart to understand your guest and not just stick on your policy!!! Where is your heart guys? My mom then said all the problems we encountered during our stay and them not having considerations unlike in other hotels, fortunately after all the talks, they grant our request--why on earth we have to do all the talking just so you can grant our request. This is actually a simple matter but it’s a big deal for us because of this, why will we recommend this on others? If with simple requests they don’t have a solution for it. Also, all the minor problems that we encountered if you add it all, it makes your stay very unpleasant. To add, we also had a problem with the keycard. We were really tired that day and we encountered that, we need to go back to the ground floor for help-what a hassle! Also, their room lights are very limited, it’s so dark during the night. Their towels are not good as white, it’s like a very, very old towel-dirty white in color-maybe consider buying new ones. There are no bathrobes on our stay too.
However, I would like to give good credits to their other staff like those carrying our luggages, doorman, housekeeping and security. They are the ONLY ones with the good behavior and professional. They smile to us and are very accommodating. When we request something to the housekeeping, they somehow attend to us immediately. I would actually rate their hotel as 1 if not because of their "other good staff".

Overall, NOT COMING BACK AGAIN. Will not even recommend it to our friends.

1. no wifi, we had to request for router
2. no hot water, had to request again
3. ac was very noisy and not cold, so we complained and they tried to fix it while we were inside the room, we were supposed to be resting, thats the reason why we were here in the first place, but so many things that we had to have fixed that we were not able to relax at all!
4. you would think that with their asking price they have quality hotel amenities, service, etc.
5. did i mention already that the rooms arent very clean.

such a waste of time and money!

So picture this... I have been in Indonesia for a week and after washing my toothbrush under the tap I pick up a tummy bug. I've flown since 9am that morning through Singapore to arrive late into Clarke airport 10pm then to the hotel (1hr) late in the evening arriving after having my legs crossed for most of the time holding on to the eruption that wanted occur from my belly.
After being checked in by a staff member who really could not care less if I were there or not, two lovely gents helped me to my room with bags, I thought a sign of things to come - potential!! I entered my room and in a sign of final freedom sat on the toilet, things happened, the volcano erupted and the lava spewed out. I turned to the toilet paper holder and there it was.. empty!!, I opened the cupboard under the sink in desperation for the coiled white stuff.. nothing but rubbish left from the person before. Tired and exhausted I decide to jump in the shower.. freshen up.. wash where toilet paper should have gone. I turn on the hot water to find that what just came out of my backside had more pressure than the hot water.. In fact I could have urinated with more pressure. So there I am in an awkward dirty state with a trickle of water to clean myself in. I finished the shower to discover there was probably more water on the bathroom floor than what had come out of the faucet, but that's a different issue.
Now that my stomach has been rid of all it's contents, I decide to fill it up again and call for room service. I order 2 drinks and some pasta, after much confusion because some dishes were not available, my door bell goes 35 mins later. I'm presented with a plate of pasta with plastic film over the top - that is it!, I ask where my drinks are and I'm told " they are coming" 15 minutes later the door bell rings and two drinks are handed to me. At this point I'm slightly concerned.. I have no knife, fork, spoon or napkin. I ask the man at my door with two drinks in hand where my utensils are, he claims they are coming. 15 mins later the door bell goes and there they are. My shiny utensils.. I return to my plate of pasta that is now 30 mins old and as cold as the air being pumped out of my noisy air conditioning unit. With tender stomach I realise I just could not swallow cold pasta and ditch the food idea, have a drink and hit the sack.
In the morning after having another splash around with the dribble of water from the shower, I comment to the receptionist I have an issue with the hot water. " what room?" is the response.. not ; sorry, my apologies, we will have it fixed... nothing!!
I had my breakfast in-between swatting flies, not terrible in terms of variety but not great either. Full day of work and made some comments to my colleagues who said they rang the hotel to speak to them informing them of the food issue and cleanliness. I returned that evening expecting good things.. an apology, a warm embrace, a voucher, a bucket of hot water, something??? anything!! but nothing! in actual fact I got the worst gift of all. The pasta that they had delivered the night before and I had left on the bench, was still in my room waiting for me as well as a smell of stale old food, that the ants had decided to nibble on. I considered that perhaps room service thought that with some strange logic I may want to have a second crack at the pasta.. but when the cups from my drinks were also left behind, I soon realise it was just laziness.
This is one of my first "Terrible" ratings and I would so much have preferred to be telling you how wonderful this place is and how much potential it has. Besides the guy that helped me with my luggage I have nothing positive to say besides I hope they find something worthwhile to take out of this comment and can improve to avoid any experience like this for future guests.

We were placed in the "executive" room beside maintenence on the 3rd flr and they were quite noisy in the early dawn hours, not considering there were paying guests.
2nd. Breakfast buffet plates were so dirty, some w white wet smudge all over them it made me lose my appetite. And their bfast spread was so so. And no brewed coffee.,, Staff was doing nothing giving us uncomfortable stares the whole time..i expected more.
3rd.. Bathtub/shower was clogged. That water spill over the entire bathroom. And no bidette.
4th.. Front desk seemed to try their best to avoid contact w guests. Forgetting their role in assuring guests comfortable stay. They were on the borderline of being rude.
5th..train your entire staff. They should learn courtesy and hospitality. And any form of colonial mentality should never be tolerated.

Simple request on bringing in food which is not available in their resto was not granted and made us consume the newly bought food outside the hotel. Even our leftovers were not allowed to be brought inside the hotel. So inconsiderate.

This hotel probably needs to be renovated... especially the restaurant in the ground floor by the left side of the front desk. The staff were pleasant and accommodating but the hotel itself needs refurbishing. The towels in the room looked worn out and i had to ask for some fresh looking new ones. The wifi was a relief though... it worked well throughout our entire stay. We had dinner outside the hotel ... the vicinity is teeming with food joints. Hotel breakfast was also a let down. Fruits and salads were not served fresh...viand was processed meat. I just had an egg omelet and a toast downed with brewed coffee...

I was here with my family for a company sponsored training. Room is great quite new at that time. The only problem is the noise above where the swimming pool is located. The 3rd floor is rented out to big groups and usually crowded at night, you can hear the sounds and chaos from your room. After midnight when you think everything is over, starts the clean up where everything is done without regards to sleeping guest below. We called the front desk but nothing happened. Thankfully everything was quite at 3am. This didnt happen for just a night or 2 but the entire 5 days stay. Reported this to our company and as far as I know they do not deal with this hotel anymore.

We were around 15 guys, Europeans, Filipinos and Indians who stayed here for a week on a business trip.
All of us were not satisfied overall.
Rooms are nice and clean. Except that I had company of two cockroaches ;)
Food was below average so was the service.
Top floor rooms and those facing the beach are too noisy due to music on the beach / terrace.
2nd floor rooms are peaceful.
Stone throw away from the beach which is scenic if you ignore some litter which lies here and there.
Security is a concern here so do keep valueables in the safe.
