The staff were very accommodating from the moment we arrived, providing perfect service and made many adjustments to the menu to cater to my dietary requirements. Our guide was very skilled and was able to spot an abundance of animals; the big 5 and then some! The rooms are well appointed, with hot running water, flushing toilet, super warm duvet, perfect for our mid Winter stay and far enough from other rooms for privacy but close enough to feel safe. It was so amazing to hear the Elephants come through camp, feeding on the trees around our room overnight and hear the Lions calling whilst tucked into bed. During game drives, we only ever saw 2 other vehicles that belonged to our camp - this made game spotting and viewing intimate and not crowded, so animals were relaxed. I highly recommend Gomoti Plains!

We stayed here 3 nights at the end of September 2022. The camp has 10 (or 12?) tents. The tents are very spacious and have electricity, a fan and a bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower. The stay includes all meals, drinks, laundry and “tours” by open fourwheel drive, traditional kano and normal boat. Wildlife can be seen everywhere. Guides and all other staff are professional, very friendly and helpful. Meals are varied and good but given the fact that you have to get up every morning at 05.00-05.30 the timing of the dinner (20.00-20.30) is far too late. Most of the times we returned from the afternoon tour around 18.30 and it is unclear (and for us disturbing) why there is so much delay before dinner is served. Despite this the wildlife experience is worth the hardship.
There is (slow)WiFi in the middle of the camp, including part of the restaurant/seating area.

Dear Amsterdam05, Thank you for your valuable review. We have sent your feedback through to the camp managers and will look into this. We are however, very pleased that the wildlife experience overshadowed the break between your afternoon activities and dinner. We trust that the slow WiFi still enabled you to get images and information through to family but also encouraged you to soak up the African bush, WiFi in the Delta can be fickle and we deliberately created one dedicated area to encourage guests to disconnect. Thank you for including Machaba Safaris in your Botswana experience.

We visited three camps in Botswana and Gomoti Plains was our favorite. The setting is beautiful, the activities are varied (game drives, mokoro canoeing, motorboat and helicopter ride (buy this separately-- it is WORTH IT). The staff is friendly and the food is outstanding. The room itself was so well set up and the shower had good pressure. Best of all, our guide there, **Oracle Oratile** was exceptional. He was patient with questions, extremely knowledgeable and has an incredible ability to find the lions and predict elephant and other animals behaviors. It was very special. I can highly highly recommend! One more note: wifi is not so good but you'll be having so much fun, you will not even miss it!

Responded Jul 11, 2022
Dear Jenn B, This is amazing feedback, thank you for taking the time to let us know that Gomoti Plains was your favorite camp of the three camps you stayed at in Botswana! We are thrilled that everything from the activities to the staff, to the rooms were outstanding and thank you for your detailed review. Your special mention of Oracle is appreciated, it sounds like his passion for the Delta shone through. We are so pleased that you were having so much fun at Gomoti Plains that the Wi-Fi was not missed. Machaba Safaris made the decision to deliberately limit the Wi-Fi throughout our camps to encourage guests to focus on their safari experiences. We hope to see you back at Gomoti Plains or one of our other Machaba Safaris camps in the near future.

First, the positives... the room was incredible, probably the most beautifully appointed safari tent we've ever visited. Then our guide, Karl, was one of the best guides we've had in 13+ years in Africa. He read the mood, he realised we were experienced, he found us small interesting plants, insects, birds, all sorts, on top of the lions. It would be worth visiting just to see the views and meet Karl.
But the negatives. The big one was the food. It was average at best, but at worst they served us braaied (barbecue) chicken that was charred on the outside but raw on the inside. Eating by candlelight we didn't realise and 2 of our family of 5 were very ill. The camp manager apologised profusely, but it just should not have happened and really ruined the end of our trip.
Finally, a strange one. We were there at the same time as some "influencers" who were being wined and dined by someone from head office. One afternoon I arrived at the mess tent, and as I approached from outside I overheard the manager say "you're low on Bombay, fill it up with Gordon's". As I entered everything was then nice nice awkward smiles. To see you've been charged for premium spirits (which in fact you didn't ask for) is a bit of a sting. They also charged for each bottle of drinking water, so beware your bar bill.
All in all I wish we could visit again for the wildlife, but the small portions of disappointing (and dangerous) food mean we definitely won't.

Little Machaba, their sister camp in Botswana, and not far from Gomoti is far superior than this camp. Their animal sightings were very good and their canoe rides but the food and staff were average at best.

As most folks who have been to Africa safaris, the camps are resposible for setting your small plane rides to and from. Well, Gomoti scheduled our departure to leave at 7:45AM to another airport where out next flight was at 7PM! When we questioned these arrangments the night before we were to depart, their staff said "we will look at this, just enjoy the afternoon drive"! Next morning, we discovered that another couple, who had a morning connection at the next airport dictated that we had to leave too. "Only flight out", Gomoti camp representive, Rachael said.

Not true!!!!!!!!!!! But they felt, we can kick this other couple out on 1 plane (cost savings) and we do not give a sheeetttttttt that they sit at another bush airport for 8hrs.!!!

Our travel agent, is also looking into this. Stay away from this property.

Responded Oct 25, 2022
Dear John D Thank you for your review. We are investigating your feedback regarding your experiences of the food and staff while you were at Gomoti Plains. We are pleased though, that the game viewing and mokoro excursions were very good! Our camp managers have commented that you enjoyed all your activities during your stay. Regarding the light aircraft flights, thank you for your feedback, we are concerned that it is believed that the camps are responsible for setting the light aircraft times. Flight times are out of our camp manager’s hands and are set daily by the light aircraft companies who rely on the information they have from the booking agents. In this instance the agent made the flight bookings direct. Our camps are informed of the timings the day before departure. Flight timings are based on many factors including onward flight or transfer times. We have been in touch with the camp managers and the light aircraft company to thoroughly investigate what exactly occurred and why your timings were as you described them. We look forward to receiving feedback from your agent with regards to this matter. We hope that when reflecting on your time in Africa while armed with increased knowledge of inter-camp flights you will withdraw your assessment of Gomoti Plains and return to stay at one of our other Machaba Safaris camps.

Excellent amount of game to observe and get close to. All of the staff were super helpful, including singing native songs and dancing around the campfire. Watched a cheetah stalk a herd of impala at dusk. Amazing sunsets and sunrises. Elephants feeding right outside our tent.

Magnificent camp pristinely positioned to give you a truly wonderful safari experience without a struggle. The game viewing is excellent and effortless and can even be enjoyed from the deck of your roomy comfortable tent as well at times while you pass time between flexible events. The Camp manager Onks and his crew did and do a wonderful job (though he still owes us glasses of environmentally friendly Elephant Milk for which we will return). Mitre and Caltex made for a formidable Guide duo who between them ensured that we saw everything that Gomoti Plains has to offer during the time we were there. Thanks Guys for a wonderful experience that will always be up there with the best. Keep it up.

We spent 2 nights mid January 2023.

This is a stunning camp set in a great location, overlooking grassland ( The water levels are low in January), had Lion roaring both night, Elephant in camp, Kudu, Lechwe, Impala, Giraffe and Warthog in front of our tent.

The game viewing was also excellent, 2 pack of Wild Dog, 2 cheetah and plenty plains game.

The concession is stunningly beautiful, open plains studded with palm trees, along the Gomoti River which has permanent water.

The food was excellent as was the staff.

Ponche, the manager, is warm and bubbly, the prefect host, we loved chatting with her. She also goes out and finds game!

Nice touches in the room like an ice bucket, replenished with Ice twice daily.

Will certainly return, thank you!

I stayed at the Gomoti Plains Camp in November 2022, had a wonderful and amazing time. As a solo traveler they made me feel very comfortable and welcome. My guide (BD) was excellent, expert knowledge and super friendly. The food was amazing, the service top notch, and the tent was fantastic, a very luxurious tent (private bathroom & shower inside + outdoor shower). I would go back in a heartbeat, would love to go back when the flood waters are in season.

I have just been to Gomoti for the 3rd time after being away for over 2 years and it was a wonderful experience once again. Our game viewing was incredible, the camp, its facilities and all on offer were fantastic and the way we were treated made it feel like being at home - in an exceptional setting and in an exceptional way! Our group consisted of 8 adults and 3 young children and the needs of all were incredibly well taken care by people too numerous and too special to single any out! Everything about Gomoti is wonderful and it’s an experience that creates permanent, happy memories. Spoil yourself and check it out. It won’t disappoint.

You will simply love Gomoti Camp. It's location is lovely and on the water. Food and accommodations are wonderful. Certainly consult you health care provider, but anti malaria meds are recommended. We take Malarone whilst in Africa. It did give me a headache for a few days. Mosquitoes were only bad at dusk and near the water. Remember, it only takes one bite from an infected mosquito. The camp provides mosquito spray in tents and around the camp. No need to pack any. Have fun!

Hi there, For Gomoti Camp bring Type M, big rounded 3 pins plug, there are about 2 charge point areas. They also have USB points for your phone. The tent is very modern and only about a year old. They may have a spare plug for you to borrow but this isn’t always guaranteed. Hope this helps, Have an amazing trip and if your guide is Mott, he’s an exceptional guide! They all are!
