Our stay at Madikwe Hill Private Game Lodge was (once again) incredible in every respect. Wow – what a great few days! From the rooms, to the food, to the service from every single staff member – each component was 5-star. While we would only have had direct contact with a minority of the staff, it is clear that there is not a single person who is not warm, friendly, well-trained and professional. Our room was sensational, with its views over the waterholes, with various animals "entertaining" us 24-hours a day. We almost did not need to go on the game drives 😃 . We have been to many lodges in and around South Africa - Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge stands out as one we cannot give a high enough rating to!

Madikwe Hills is a picture perfect lodge! Words cannot describe how beautiful this lodge is that is nestled into the rocks with beautiful raised walkways, a stunning lodge, and incredible rooms. We were in Room 6 celebrating our honeymoon and couldn't believe how stunning the room was from the bed, to the bathroom built into the rocks, to the the rooftop deck. The game viewing from the lodge deck and rooms is unparalleled. We saw elephants, zebra, giraffes, kudu, warthogs, and more right from our table at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff from Hannes the manager, to Andrew, David, and Cheyenne all made our honeymoon so memorable. Lebo was by far the best tracker we had at all three of the lodges we visited! He made our drives so fun and entertaining. We highly recommend this lodge and game reserve for the beautiful mountains, landscape, game viewing, hospitality, and incredible beauty!

Incredible 4-night stay at Madikwe Hills, a truly luxurious lodge with friendly, helpful, and attentive staff, who really go out of their way to make your stay as luxurious as possible. Our guide, Trevor, is a treasure trove of wildlife information, and kept us very entertained with his jokes when the wildlife didn't play along. Our tracker, Charlie, was simply amazing in tracking down lions! The rooms are very luxurious, with all the amenities you could think of. We were booked in the Honeymoon suite, which was very nice, but one issue is that the bathroom is upstairs and the stairs are not lit, so it can be a bit clumsy in the middle of the night - some ambient LED lighting would have gone a long way to make it easier. Unfortunately we could not make use of the outside bathtub, as it was raining the whole time, but we were pleasantly surprised at the candlelit & flower-sprinkled bath on our last night, after a cold & wet same drive. The food was simply incredible, whether it was breakfast, lunch, high tea, or dinner. The wine selection is also extensive. You cannot go wrong with Madikwe Hills if you are longing for a luxurious safari experience!

We were here over New Year , originally for three, and then 4 days ( because we could not bear to leave) . Everything , from the welcome, to the food, to the accommodation and certainly the game drives was of the very highest quality and professionalism. The reserve itself is spectacular. Madikwe is so large and the landscape so varied, that you never feel like you are in an enclosed spaced - and it is chock-full of game. So, to begin....the welcome from the excellent reception and reservations staff as well as the very attentive and friendly manager Hannes set the tone for what would be a game lodge experience of the highest order. COVID-19 precautions were evident everywhere and no risks were taken in any area, and yet we were made to feel so relaxed and looked after in these trying circumstances. The restaurant staff are superbly trained and the chef- extraordinary. The food was truly memorable. The rooms themselves are enormous- easily the biggest we have experienced at any Game Lodge anywhere in Africa. They are beautifully furnished and all have large verandahs with plunge pools. Housekeeping staff do an immaculate job. When we chose to stay an extra night we needed to move rooms, and I was happy to see that all rooms are very individually designed because they wrap around the natural environment. Even with such a good lodge, our stay would have been a let down if the game drives were not of a similar standard, but we could not have been in better hands for the drives. Cameron ( ranger) and Lebo (tracker) were probably the most personable and knowledgable ranger and tracker that we have ever had anywhere. It was such a privilege to spend up to 8 hours a day with them on our 2 game drives. Lebo is great to talk with and is a highly trained tracker, and Cameron is one of the most highly-trained rangers in Southern Africa. We saw a huge variety of game- all of the Big 5 in some truly memorable sightings- and when they were not in front of us, Cameron shared his expert knowledge of birds and other smaller animals. If there were no birds around, we were learning about South African history or geology. The man is a walking encyclopaedia- but way more fun than that sounds. Madikwe Hills has that rare skill to provide an informal, fun environment along with the utmost luxury and attention to standards. This is so hard to find, anywhere in the world, and we certainly cannot wait to experience it again. Hats off to Hannes who has assembled a team that is both warm and very professional.

This is by far the best experience I have enjoyed on my trips to South Africa. I went to Madikwe Hills on the recommendation of friends and was delighted to experience excellent food, beverages, service, accommodations and game drives. The lodge was very clean and well equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay. The food, beverages and service in the restaurant and bar were excellent. The guide and tracker were both friendly and very knowledgeable. I have to say that the sundowner drinks on the evening drive was something so simple but very enjoyable.
