This hotel is a relic of the former US Navy base at Subic Bay. and situated within the former base area - now a free trade zone. Accordingly the infrastructure, whilst good by Philippes standards is somewhat dated.

Attempts are being made to develop the area for both business, light industry and tourism . There are recently completed hotels on the seafront and others under construction

The hotel is close to the entrace to the free trade zone - we stayed as there were trip advisor reports.

There are three accommodation blocks

Alpha - mainly residential and not used for short term occupancy

Beta - in very sad condition and needing refurbishment

Delta - Recently refurbished.

We were visiting relatives in Olangapo and originally were booked into the Beta block. This was a big mistake. The rooms were tacky, grubby and overdue for refurbishment.

We then moved into the refurbished delta block. The contrast could not have been more extreme. The rooms had been refurbished to modern standards and were clean and comfortable.

Service was helpful. The breakfasts were good - delicious local ffresh fruit always available plus the usual American & Philippino style breakfasts.

The swimming pool is not close to B or D blocks though and there wasn't any verandah or terrace with a view to sit out in.

Our actual score would have been above average for Delta and terrible for Beta.

Thank you to the previous reviewers for not raising my expectations too high. We were able to manage our expectations due to this.

The good:

We stayed at the Delta Hotel. This is relatively newer compared to the Bravo building. The hotel needs an update though. It is not too old, but it has that "motel" vibe, similar to the motels in the US.
The location is its best trait, being 2 blocks away from Harbour Point mall and close to many commercial establishments.
Wifi was also free, albeit a bit slow compared to Makati standards (which is slow already).
The rooms are huge, we got the 2 queen bed room and there was so much space to spare.
The aircon was cold, which was a plus. The bath is also clean, and seems to be recently updated given the fixtures and the tile work. I would say it is less than 10 years old.
The parking was super easy, with lots of parking spaces.

So why only two stars?

The bad:
Reception only had 1 guy manning the area. Since there were several events happening in Subic this weekend, check in time was superr slowww...
The breakfast took forever. We waited 40 minutes just for beef tapa and eggs. It was obvious the wait staff was overwhelmed and they were not used to having so much people in their hotel. It's too bad, since the food was delicious.
The carpet was stained, old, and threadbare. Lucky that I read previous reviews, so our family brought room slippers so we did not have to step on such dirty carpets. The hotel provided 2 pairs of slippers (free), but since we were 6 we needed to bring 4 more pairs.
The hallway was dark, the decor was dated. This gave it that motel-ish vibe.
The TV was the old CRT type. good English channels though.
Since we were a party of 6 (4 adults 2 kids), we asked for 4 extra towels. They said they can only provide 2 more towels since the 3rd and 4th would have a 200 peso charge each. First time I've heard of a hotel that charges for extra towels. This by itself removed 1 star already.
The bed was dusty, hard, support was not good. My allergies triggered while lying in bed, despite taking antihistamines. My sleep was not restful due to coughing fits and a hard, creaky bed. Of all the hotels I've stayed in, this is probably the worst bed.
The staff were a bit sullen, maybe reflective of the dark hotel interiors.
The bathroom door creaked every time it was opened, giving off that "haunted" room vibe. On our check out day the light bulb started flickering.

Lucky that we stayed for only a night. For the price ($120), there are probably better options elsewhere. I've stayed in hotels with issues as well, but this hotel has the most issues put together in just 1 night. Will I stay again? No. We just stayed here since we did not have a choice, given our event was also at this hotel.

This is their "newer" building. Could not imagine what the older Bravo building looks like. Don't really wanna know.

Stayed at this place a few years back and it was a dump then. Recently returned to stay in Olongapo for a couple of nights and this place had done nothing but gotten worse. DO NOT WASTE your money or time with this hole in the wall.

The hotel feels like a hospital stuck during World War 2. The room we stayed in was so old, the bedsheets were itchy and the overall vibe was just downright creepy. The bathroom fixtures couldn’t even be upgraded to more modern ones. :-( Couldn’t sleep at all even with the TV on, and ended up sleeping in our car!

Subic International Hotel has inexpensive rates for its rooms. It is ideally located to restaurants, bars, & shopping malls. It is a walking distance from the beach & basically to all the good places inside the Subic Free Port Zone. We'll definitely come back to this hotel.

I booked this hotel through Agoda and it said they had a pool, babysitting and a gym, none of which was true. They said they could shuttle us to a pool on the other side of town at their other hotel. For the gym, they said it was in a massage parlor and was opened from 1pm to 1am. For the babysitting, they said they do not offer that anymore. Those were the lies. Also, the place looked terriable from the outside. Needed a paint job 10 years ago in and out and the staff seemed used to getting complaints. I had to pay way too much for them to let me use the internet (100 pesos per hour or 500 per day) so that I could complain with Agoda and Tripadvisor. When I called Agoda, they put me on hold for 25 minutes while they contacted the hotel. They said that the manager of the hotel was unavailable until Monday, so they could not determine if I could get a refund until Monday (2 days). Whatever you do, don't stay here!!!

The place looks and feels really old. During our stay, the elevator was not working, so we had to climb up 36 steps to the 3rd floor everytime we came back to the hotel. Not good if you're with your 75-year old parents.
The room was stuffy, and smelled of dirty carpet. Bed feels ok but the comforter feels dirty. The bathroom was ok, no complaints there except they didn't initially have towels. We had to request for them, and when they came, they only gave us 2 towels. It took them forever to send up 2 more towels for our kids. Even the remote controls for the aircon and TV had to be requested!
The room had 2 queen size beds so perfect for a family of 4. The safe was disappointing. No batteries so we couldn't use them. Since it took them a long time to bring up towels, we didn't bother to ask for batteries anymore.
Breakfast was ok, not great but not bad either. Service wasn't good. After waiting about 5 minutes, I had to approach the waiter to ask for the menu. I was handed one copy. When I asked for more because we were 7, I was told there was only 1. Gee. The restaurant was small so at breakfast, tables were set up by the lobby near the elevator. We were a party of 7 so we were seated in a small room that looked like an office. One part of our table was not level with the other part, so my daughter accidentally spilled her orange juice. When the waiter came to clean up, we told him what happened. He was kind enough to say he will replace my daughter's orange juice. Of course he never came back.
Our most disappointing experience was with the hotel's massage service. We called at 7 pm to ask for a 9 pm in-room massage schedule. The schedule was confirmed. At around 9:05 pm, we called the Health Club to follow-up. The person on the other line sounded as if we weren't on the schedule. Asked for our details and said she will send someone shortly. At 9:20 pm, we called again. The receptionist apologized, saying there were many clients that night. Well, they should've told us earlier! The massage people finally came at 9:45 pm. They were very unprofessional. There were 3 of us, including my young daughter. One of the massage therapists immediately jumped out to say, "I'll do her massage" (my daughter), you 2 can take care of them (me and my husband). They were talking with each other while they were massaging us! So much for a relaxing massage!

When I first registered at Ensogo.com.ph, I was lucky enough to get a deal for the best hotel in Subic – Subic International Hotel! The discount vouchers did not only entitle us to room accommodation, it also gave us extra perks like the tree top adventure which was really exhilarating! My friends and I enjoyed the stuff that was offered to us and the staff was so accommodating. I knew that it wasn’t part of the deal but they gave us extra services that we knew we wouldn’t get anywhere else. They were also very patient in teaching us on how to commute and get from one place or another. I know that it was just dumb luck that I was able to register at Ensogo.com.ph in time for the deal, but I know that they will offer more hotel deals in the future so I’m always checking. Discount vouchers rock! I’m saving up to go back to Subic International Hotel and I’m even convincing my friend who’s getting married to hold the ceremony there! Good job Subic International Hotel! Two thumbs up!

Safely back in Makati now after I stayed in the worst hotel I have ever been at in the Philippines, the Subic International Hotel, grossly over priced, very dirty, very smelly, no hot water in shower, towels would not dry you after a sand shower in the desert, wifi did not work and could not get data connection for phone company. Lifts did not work properly. Service at breakfast was hopeless and to top it off, I had a prostitute follow me up one night and knocked on the door offering her services. She was in the lobby when we came back in, talking to one of the security people so they knew her and must have told her our room number. Never happened to me before.
I have stayed in better hotels in remote areas of Laos for $5 a night and this cost A$66 a night.
And the staff did not care or show any interest in our complaints. Shame on you.
BEWARE TRAVELERS, NEVER STAY AT THE SUBIC INTERNATIONAL HOTEL.

My family and I decided to spend the last weekend in Subic for some R and R. I checked online for reviews on different hotels in Subic. Subic International Hotel caught my eye because of the price and the photos were nice looking. Several reviews even gave it 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars. When we got there, there was no working elevator at that time. Worse, the toilet got clogged and I found a small cockroach in my food! So I said to myself, don't be fooled next time by false reviews and nice photos.
