We went there with no reservation. Receptionist were unclear when giving prices. As if they just want money. I told them that I will be booking for 3 adults and 1 11year old boy with one extra bed. the receptionist said I have to pay PHP3400 for the room for 2 pax, additional php2000 for 2 person, WHAT?! It is a rule that kids below 12 years old are free. Good thing my boyfriend read their rates, PHP1000/extra person another PHP1000/additional bed.

Everything else was fine except for the following.

-no exhaust in the bathroom
-no free toothbrush/toothpaste
-no free breakfast

Meal might be expensive (approx. PHP250)but their serving was big.

We were looking for an escape for a week away from business and wanted a relaxed place, somewhere warm and welcoming, by the sea and a good beach, and with a great bar and restaurant. Thanks to TripAdvisor we found Wild Orchid - and would not have found it otherwise!

This is not an international chain hotel - so don't come here looking for anything without personality. This is a great little hotel, well run and with staff who make you feel very welcome and relaxed. We were able to do enjoy our beachfront room - with no worries about the proximity to the bar at all - if anything that was a plus as it was just a few steps from the room to the bar and to the barbecue. We were very impressed by the great value for drinks at the bar and by the amazing food coming from the barbecue! Talking to visitors and locally based expats during our trip, we heard many say this was the best hotel, with the best beachfront bar and restaurant in the Subic Bay area.

The beachfront rooms were really good size, with comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. The housekeeping staff were great and kept the room clean, changing the bedlinen and towels every day. Nearly all of the staff were friendly and welcoming - perhaps the only exception being the front desk who don't seem to make as much effort as everyone else - which is a pity when they are the first and last impressions you get from a hotel!

There is an interesting mix of reviews here about this hotel. It seems to me that some people come with expectations far too high! I don't expect this to be like the best 5 star city hotels we stay in on other trips. I cannot understand why others cannot differentiate! Having said that, this hotel is a great find in Subic Bay - and we will be back!

Finding the hotel online, contacting them and making sure we had a reservation on a busy summer weekend in Subic, everything was a breeze. Until..
We checked in a little after lunch. The heat was awful. I had called the front desk much earlier to let her know we were on our way. Our bags were whisked off to our room by a very nice bellboy.
The room was just right. I was, however, shocked to see the very dirty floor, the small window, and the bathroom that had no ventilation. Further, the aircon was so weak. We wanted to upgrade to another room but couldn't get one.
I requested housekeeping to have the room cleaned, and they came in a jiffy, but they did not apologize. Oh well, mustve been a real hot day for all of us.
We also requested a view of the beach. The one who talk our call said yes, she'd give us both the view of the beach and the pool. That actually sealed the deal for me. It was just really sad that the room did have a very, very partial view of what we expected.
We brought along some of our own water for the trip. As I was fixing the bottles, I noticed how filthy the ref was. OMG, the ice tray was totally gross. And the softdrinks were all bottled with rusty caps.
The size of the bed was perfect. But since the room came with a cheap monobloc chair, the covers of the bed kept up static all night.
I'm not sure I'd want to go back. The price of the room is so not worth it.

Decided to come out and sit by the pool and have a couple of beers while watching my kids swim. The first beer or two was fine but a bit tardy in arriving. I actually had to walk to the restaraunt and get a waitress to come over and take my food order. The first couple of beers were fine but about the third beer they just kept getting warmer and warmer. I talked to a few of the other customers there and they said it happens every time they come here. Not sure if was lack of cooler space or if the staff just kept grabbing the beers that had been just put in to replace the ones that had been consumed. Overall not that great of an experience for the amount you have to pay.

We booked 4 rooms in this hotel and all are neat and well. The staffs are friendly and accomodating. All are quick to respond on request.

The food on the restobar are worth it with late night serenade from the house band. They managed to perform our requested songs to the delight of our senior companions.

The place is nicely located just after subic bay freeport which gives you opportunity to visit some other attractions.

The only thing we would like the hotel to improve is there current elevator. It is outdated with odd smell.

Overall, our stay was great and everyone enjoy the pool and the beach.

We arrived in Subic Bay and originally were meant to stay in a hotel down the street but upon entering said hotel we left immediately due to poor conditions. We walked down the road and randomly found the wild orchid hotel and we couldn’t be happier! From the moment we walked in it has just been first class service and all the staff are just wonderful! The security guard we met while coming in was lovely and showed us around. The rooms are amazing and clean, and anything you need they have! Food, bars, room service, spa treatments mini bars, pools it’s just great here! Beautiful and friendly! Definitely will be coming back!

+ Nice Staff
- Unfriendly/frustrated front desk manager
- no cash discount, even I booked two rooms
- 500 pesos extra for a baby crib per night is a rip off = not family friendly
- whole place looks old and filthy, ongoing construction
- rooms are dirty, windows never get cleaned, curtains are old and have holes, I guess from cigarettes, curtains in the bathroom have mold (!). Shower head doesnt get cleaned for ages. Sliding doors are hard to use and make horrible noises. Aircon half broken and filthy, power outlets falling out the wall, tv remote has no battery, and and and
- swimming pool smells heavily from chlorine which means a LOT of urea in the water, I'd never swim there.
- food in the restaurant disappointed us and it is pricey (beef in the soup like old mest)
- even one hour later checkout with baby not possible
This place probably looked good 20 years ago or whenever it has been built. Now they just pull money out of it but dont reinvest to renovate properly.
I can not understand the 4.5 Stars class rating at all. Maybe the mostly old american guests going there dont know what they actually should get for their money? Sorry I really just dont get along. I would never ever stay tjere again and I wouldnt even recommend it to my worst enemies...

The charge when we arrived was actually P5,000 for a beach room. The door was a sliding glass door with a very poor lock that actually broke and needed a make shift repair. There is a beachfront restaurant which offered average food and decent live entertainment. You are told as you book in that you are not allowed to bring any food or drink to your room. You must either purchase all from the hotel or eat out. There is no happy hour and no deals here. The new manager was very helpful and made the stay more tolerable. I believe this place would be okay with a more friendly reception and improved services. the location was on the beach and okay.

What does it help if you have friendly people if you live in a ruin and messy hotel? The elevator stinks like somebody made a dump there the lobby is a mess as the floor will be made New ( which is good but would be nice to inform before) and the fitness club is stinky a mess leaky and very dirty... also nobody told.. so dont believe the nice faked pictures on the hotel homepage..

I agree with the answer of BudgetTaveler91411. The room we had costs around 80 USD per night. It's a beachfront room with 1 king size bed. The food is quite expensive. We spent around 20 USD per person per day. Jetski costs around 65 USD per hour. So if I think 500-750 USD is enough for 5 days. Nothing much to do there.
