ZERO STAR for the beach!!! You can see stray dogs at the beach and saw one pooping. It is terrible. I really felt cheated on that part. A lot of trash, too. Nothing like the pictures online.

I give 4 stars for the resort staff. They are nice, accommodating ang happy people. They need to polish a little on service.

2 stars for the rooms - old, dusty and not enough towels. Towels are very old too.
Rooms have little insects on the floor.

3 stars for the pool and food.

Will never come back!
My friends and I regret going here.

Stayed here about 15 times over the past 6 years. Used to be the best hotel around for miles but now just an average hotel and below average when value is taken into account.

Rooms haven't been refurbished ever as fas I know and now they really show the many years of wear and tear. Beds are just a foam mattress on a piece of plywood, no springs. Pillows are hard and lumpy. Extra bed adds P2000 per night
($50!!) and is smaller than a single bed and just a foam mattress, not the typical "roll-away". Showers spew out water that smells brackish and chlorine laced. Bath towels used to be white, now flesh colored. Pool, which is a major draw, was also cloudy and full of leaves and dead insects.

Free internet very spotty, especially in the rooms.

We will not ever frequent this establishment again, except perhaps to swim...and pay the P500/person "consumables" charge.

The room was nice except the hot tub spewed black stuff all over the place and was unusable. The food was OK but very small portions. The elevator was out of order after we checked in and we had to climb 5 flights of stairs repeatedly. Staff very responsive and friendly. Wine selection is zero. So don't even ask for a merlot or shiraz. Overall 1 star is more than they deserve.

Arrival experience: Below average experience on check-in. Reception was unorganised with several check-ins in a row being messed up. My check-in was ready but incorrect. Already had prepaid in full with the deposit slip and still they argued i hadnt paid enough. I had to dig out previous emails from Wild Orchid to show them i had booked during a promo period or they wouldnt have honored it. Thats a fail Wild Orchid.
Room experience: The room is a standard Poolside room. Nothing special. Super cheap furniture, mattress is not comfortable. Room needed a clean. But this is the norm for Wild Orchid same as there property in Angeles City.
Facilities experience: Very nice pool. Barefoot Bat at the beachfront is a great spot also. Pool table as well.
Food and Beverage experience: The food was hit and miss. The burger was lukewarm and chewy but the Aussie breakfast was substantially sized and tasted good. Overall food was ok and priced reasonable for a resort.
Service experience: Reception needs a service overhaul. Arrival experience can have a huge impact to your customers especially after travelling for the last 3 hours. Room service was quick and friendly. Barefoot Bar service was mostly slow due to staff chatting to each other and not monitoring their customers.
Overall: The Wild Orchid Beach Resort experience is ok. If you are looking for a simple cheap weekend away and not expecting premium service then this your place. The Batefoot Bar is the best spot to laze away the afternoon with a cold beer and snacks with the cool sea air breezing through the bar. Dont forget to try the Floating Bar that is moored out front.

The room is too small for the price per night, the service of the staffs aren't really welcoming. When i stayed there, the staff at the bar was not accommodating and served me with a frown but when a group of foreigner guys came and ordered she got excited and forgot that i was there and that i needed condiments for my food, the waitress working with her also ignored me. The pool though, i love the pool. its big and refreshing. The food is good. Its the rate and the service of the staffs that ruins the integrity of the hotel in my opinion.

While the weather didn't cooperate it so still a nice break. While beach was out of the question pool area very nice. Good food but the wine list could be upgraded / enhanced.
Good staff as previous reviews state. Appreciated room upgrade to "condo suite".
ExPats should be mindful of "skin tax" which appears to be a frequent activity by Subic Police members.

Not worth your money. I stayed there for 2 nights. The first night, the electricity went out few times. Well okay, it was raining non stop that night; and I was in Subic, not Hawaii. But it took the staff so long to get their generator running. Meanwhile, I was lying down in bed.. In total darkness & sweating off like a pig.
Then..Early in the morning, the fire alarm rang! Twice.. And again, it took the staff ages before they switched it off. It was false alarm.
The final throw happened at 9am, when I was suffering from headache because of broke sleep. The hotel was doing maintenance & the grilling sound could be heard throughout the whole building. No apologies ever given.

I was such in foul mood that I didn't even use their gym & swimming pool in the end.The bed was hard, the bathroom is average. The only good thing was they allowed me to check out at 1400 instead of 1200pm. So what is the conclusion? Stay in other hotel.. Like what I said, not worth the money

Response from WildOrchidGroup, General Manager at Wild Orchid Beach Resort
Responded Jul 19, 2015
I was obviously upset to read your comments about my operation. However, I would like to say that power cuts are common in this part of world, and only certain team members are allowed to operate the generator under OHS. A fire alarm cannot be turned off by a hotel, only the fire brigade can do this. If I am fortunate enough to welcome you back, please contact me directly so I can offer you some form of compensation. Regards, GRAEME S. GOLDBERG C.E.O. Wild Orchid Group

I'm a regular visitor to Subic to do long distance bike rides. I usually stay at Mango Valley which is oohing special but clean, competent staff and not expensive. Due to triathlon, it was sold out so I returned to Wild Orichid to find the 'experience' just the same as last time I stayed:

+ really nice to sit in Barefott Bar and look out over beach and sea
- awful awful awful service; have to repeat orders, many many times on enu not available, orders arrive and they are wrong and food gets cold while one waits for the right orders to come

I would only ever stay here if Mango Valley, Lighthouse, Segara Villas are sold out. It's not the worst place in Subic but clearly the owner/manager isn't interested in feedback and improvement so why bother coming here, why not go somewhere that cares about customers?

Most impressed by the bar and pool area. The restaurant near the beach was also very good with excellent food and a very pleasant band playing. The bedrooms however did leave something to be desired. We booked two deluxe rooms, one of which being a corner room seemed very roomy, pleasant and airy, however the other was rather cramped. The lack of attention to detail was disappointing. Only one bedside reading lamp, no tea or coffee facilities, no glasses for use as either tooth mugs or for the mini bar, no hand towels. The instructions for the in room safe were wrong, and the bell hop who showed how to use it just shrugged when queried on the issue. The air conditioning unit appeared to be a modern wall mounted unit, but no remote control was provided and the primitive wall mounted control meant that it was either operating at full blast or off. The noise level at night was similar to that travelling in an airliner, and if I hadn't found a pair of earplugs in the bottom of my case I suspect I would have little sleep. We were also very disappointed that the hotel had made no effort at all to clean the beach area in front of the hotel which was quite disgusting. Other resort hotels elsewhere in the Philippines clean their area of the beach every morning, but this segment of beach was completely unusable. Overall I do not believe that the standards provided justify the premium price charged by this hotel over other hotels in the area and would be unlikely to return.

I agree with the answer of BudgetTaveler91411. The room we had costs around 80 USD per night. It's a beachfront room with 1 king size bed. The food is quite expensive. We spent around 20 USD per person per day. Jetski costs around 65 USD per hour. So if I think 500-750 USD is enough for 5 days. Nothing much to do there.
