I chose this hotel based on its reasonable price and great location. It is right in the center of the popular Walking St. area and you are literally amongst all the bars and clubs. This of course is great if you desire to immerse yourself in the nightlife action. My review illustrates both the strength of this hotel and sadly its weakness in my opinion. The best aspect of Orchid Inn is the exemplary staff. All the staff are simply wonderful. The friendliness and kindness of the happy staff was like a loving embrace. The smiles were abundant and the laughter and good-natured exchanges of everyone from the waitresses to the doormen to the ladies on the front desk to the ladies who cleaned and serviced the rooms made the stay a pleasure. The Philippines is famous for the friendliness of the people and I cannot stress enough how lovely and wonderful all the staff were here. Its not always the way in the service industry and often those working in such an environment may get complacent and forget to offer good service. But not here, each and every encounter with the staff was a positive happy experience. Now here is the aspect of this hotel that I would criticise and may put travellers off. As much as the hotel benefits from its central location this also can be a weakness. For me I struggled to sleep because of the noise. Its great to be in the center of town amongst all the action but the flip side is you are in a nighttime party environment and it was noisy. The noises included the nearby nightclubs, the traffic, people coming and going and also the constant 24-hour clapping and shouting of the tuk tuk drivers who signaled when a person needed a ride. This constant noise really got to me and I couldn’t sleep. Now there are two separate wings to the hotel and anyone wishing to stay here should opt for the Jasmine Wing, which is located at the back of the hotel and in a quieter street. This I imagine would allow for a more comfortable nights rest. But its still close and questionable how much more quiet it would be. The other criticism is on my day of arrival the room they offered me was windowless and smelled of mould. The smell was so bad that I was amazed they expected me to sleep in this room. It should have been closed off, the mould cleaned and then offered. I refused to take the room and then they offered a much more expensive room which I had to take, I feel it would have been better service to upgrade me to the better pool side room at no extra cost. This would have been the right thing to do and I didn’t particularly approve of the attitude of expecting me to take a room that was frankly a health hazard. The food was decent, the pool a great size and the overall level of comfort all good. My room that I had to pay extra for was large and with a decent TV and fridge and of course air con. But I did pay more for this and fear the lower cost rooms may not offer the same level of comfort. So my review is somewhat mixed. Wins absolutely on having the most wonderful staff but sadly loses points on the noisy location and mouldy room.

Arrived after midnight so we just booked a standard room until our original booking of a superior deluxe was available. Frankly I would never book a standard room there, but fit our needs for just sleeping at a reasonable price. Staff was excellent throughout our stay allowing us early morning check-in to our superior deluxe room for the rest of stay. Superior deluxe room was nice. The only issue was the air conditioner was very old and was hard to adjust. Remote was unreadable. Pool and bar area is also nice. Location is a bonus as everything is in easy walking distance. We'll stay again.

I have stayed at this hotel for the past five years without issues. I visit this area about twice a year, and the hotel staff, the closeness to the mall, good restaurants, walking street, great room prices, the swimming pool, Astro Park (where I go running), etc, makes this place my first pick every time I visit this part of the Philippines. There are more luxurious/newer hotels around, but why pay for more when you can have it all? Let me repeat this: the hotel's staff makes all the difference; they really help you when needed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Bill from Southern California

Most outstanding is the friendly and very helpful staff. Ever willing to assist in any situation. Food served in the restaurant is quite good. Only that they close early. I would not hesitate to recommend friends to stay in this hotel.

This hotel is a great price, fantastic location and reallyfriendly staff. The only downside i would say is the room maintenance. The rooms could do with some modernising or just a facelift but overall it is fantastic value for money at the orchid

Kind of a pilgrimage for me, personally love the pool area and pool bar. Walk mutt of the front door, only 2 minutes to fields ave and walking street. Can be noisy, but centre of fields to be expected. Rooms in need of a facelift, but still great value for money.

I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel. I was misled by all the good reviews. I had booked via agoda but during check in they tried to get me to pay cash even through I had paid through credit card. Anyway they were able to check the booking and get this sorted. The worst thing about this is the location. The room is attached to their restaurant. It's not on another level just to the right, its like you are living in their restaurant. You get the noise of the TV, guests dining and worst of all there is a pool table so the entire day you will hear clanking noises from the pool game. The room itself is right out of the 80s. It is like everything is falling apart and is kept together via zip ties. It gets worse. The aircon is loud. The decibel meter recorded it at 75 db which is like someone sitting next to you and shouting in your ear. I don't know what is worse the noise from the aircon or from the attached restaurant. Well it gets worse, the room is completely roach infested and I spent the entire day dispatching tiny roaches. It's not like they are being the refrigerator but they have infested the bed itself. Really gross. I have no idea how this place can have such high reviews. It is the worst hotel that I've stayed at in Angeles. A $20 room at Eurotel is better than this crap which costs almost double (this was not the most basic room but one above it). Thankfully I had booked only one night so bailed the next day. Cannot recommend this hell hole to anyone else.
