this is a warning to anyone thinking about staying at the Seashell Motel. Ive stayed there the previous 3 years with my 10 year old son to find a clean room, friendly staff, and had a great time.I made my reservations in may and requested a 12 noon check in. when we arrived there at 130 to find the hotel had been sold, was under new management, and my room still wasn't ready. When we got into our room it was filthy. The ceiling fan was covered in grime, there was a broken shade in the bathroom that someone had just nailed up, the tub wouldn't drain, and there was mold on the shower curtain. When I took a shower I was standing in 8 inches of water. There were 2 dirty mattresses outside my room with dirty linen that were there during my whole stay and are probably still there. We tried to make the best of it and not let it ruin our vacation.During the first 2 days I noticed that when we went out it looked like someone was going through our things while we were gone.T he staff was rude, inexperienced, and not up to the task. There was the manager, Sheema, and 2 other people probably related to her running the place who had no idea what clean is and no customer skills whatsoever.During our entire stay we were never offered clean towels, washcloths, or anything else for that matter' On our third night we came back from the boardwalk and noticed items missing from our room. I tore the room apart looking for these items but they were gone. The next morning I confronted Sheema, the manager about this and that it was someone on the staff and that I wanted to speak to the property owner. She flat out refused! I informed her that if she wouldn't call the ownew I would be forced to call the police. I had to call the police. When the police arrived we looked again for the missing items with no luck. They were gone. There are cameras everywhere that I know worked because of my previous stays. All of a sudden they didn't work. Very convienent, I guess if the staff is stealing from the guests they cant have working cameras. the police officer informed me that since Sheema and her crew had taken over the place that these complaints were commonplace and he expected more in the future. After the police left and for the remainder of our staySheema would follow us around, listen in on conversations we were having, and taking pictures of me and my 10 year old which I found not only creepy but extremely disturbing. She would tell me that we couldn't talk to the other guests or walk anywhere but straight to our room.I told her that I payed my money and if she wasn't going to give me a refund I would go anywhere and talk to whoever I wanted' I was never offered a refund. She continued for the duration of our stay to follow us around, but in on conversations where she was uninvited and being rude not only to me but to a child. We couldn't wait to get out of there. These things ACTUALLY happened and I'm writing this as a warning to everyone. If you do decide to stay there here are the things you can expect. You can expect an absolutely filthy room ,zero customer service, and for someone to steal from you as soon as you go out.

Whatever you do don’t stay here!! The place was so expensive for nothing. The rooms are tiny! The owners are stalkers! They watch you in cameras & out the windows all hours of the day & night. The pool closes at 6 pm. You can’t even sit outside by the pool area talking after 6 because they complain. They get upset when you ask for more toilet paper. We were told check out was at 11 but at 10 they came knocking on our door demanding we leave ASAP! Save your money & don’t give them a penny! The shower curtain rob fell on my son then later on fell on my husband. The rooms are suppose to be smoke free but the people next door to us were smoking weed the entire time but instead of dealing with them they rather ask us to move once we were settled! I could go on & on! TERRIBLE never again!

The only reason I gave this a two star and not a one star is the manager was super nice, my friend and I wanted to like the hotel we knew it would be a simple hotel room from previous reviews and that is ok we don't always need to stay at a four star hotel especially on a one night trip to the beach we only needed a clean place to sleep. We arrive after a day in Cape May and the hotel manager told us we could stay as long as we wanted and park there all day the next day which was awesome. So we proceeded to room 101 the door was already unlocked, so we made sure no one was in the room we next check the sheets and they were clean and the fridge looked ok. The room was very simple with no chairs to sit on. So I proceeded to the bathroom where the window was left open over the shower with the curtain open and all over the ledge was ants and spiders crawling and a big spider on the floor, we were a little freaked but when we sat down on the beds to discuss what to do and try and call the front desk on our cell phones because there were no telephones in the room (which gave us busy signal) a different kind of bug ran across the hotel floor in front of my foot. I love to travel and this is the first time we had to leave a hotel. We walked to the front desk and the manager was once again nice and gave us a full refund. Due to a lack of quality rooms in the area we wound up driving two hours to dover Delaware and wound up doing day two of our trip at Rehobeth Beach instead of Wildwood.
