Wave Resort delights many guests with its oceanfront rooms, praised for their modern amenities and cleanliness, offering breathtaking ocean views. However, the value for money comes under scrutiny, with several travelers feeling the pinch of high parking and resort fees.
While the service and cleanliness generally receive commendations, issues with check-in and occasional unresponsiveness, along with noise, taint the otherwise inviting atmosphere. Amenities like comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms are highlights, although the pool size and extra charges are noted as negatives by some reviewers.

The Wave brings a fun ambiance and high degree of competent planning to the Jersey Shore. We had a great stay and recommend the place. Special shout out to Jah- Alliah who greeted us at check in / out and handled every request with grace and excellence.
Pros: Thoughtful design for a beach front hotel. The room we were in was very nice, with an expansive side view of the ocean and very well designed bathroom with a glass enclosed double shower. Plenty of good quality towels, Nespresso coffee and a comfortable bed with an overall beach vibe in the room.
Great pool area with expansive ocean views, three types of loungers, swim up bar and excellent service- the food and drinks are reasonably priced, a rarity in the hotel. Superb beach set up of loungers and umbrellas by a dedicated crew located on the beach.
So pool to beach and back is a breeze at this place. Their wrist bands that serve as identification as a hotel guest also serve as the room key and the elevator security.
The new Bar is beautiful with some really good drinks, albeit very expensive.
Cons: It’s an expensive place. Midweek rooms are well over $700 all- in, drinks at the main bar are $30 a pop, parking is $55 + tax ( however, the attendant clearly mentioned a nearby self park garage for $35 as an option).
Overall the best full service hotel on the NJ shore.

The hotel was definitely on point and I noticed a difference the minute I walked in! We got our usual oceanfront room, which was spotless and you could smell that the room was just cleaned, And that someone took pride in cleaning that room! We had lunch out by the pool. It was extremely Tasty, And we got to have lunch next to the pool while enjoying a view of the beach! The front desk was extremely helpful with all new faces I noticed! I met Alex one of the managers, He was extremely nice, Knowledgeable, And was willing to help us in anyway possible!! Even valet parking was on point and very helpful this time around!! Had a great evening, except for the restaurant the block, Looking forward to coming back to the wave soon! Thank you, Alex and all of your staff for a wonderful evening!!

My husband & I recently stayed at The Wave this past weekend for 2 nights because we had a wedding close by. After toying back and forth with this hotel and another luxury hotel a few miles away, we chose The Wave based on feedback from friends who stayed here in the past. We booked an oceanfront king room with a wrap around balcony. With tax, and this is still considered off season, the room was approximately $840 a night. While the location is prime, the hotel restaurants are great, and the staff was lovely - (especially the gentleman at the front desk I forget his name I apologize!) the room absolouely does not warrant this kind of price tag. The curtains were filthy, the room desperately needed a coat of paint, the floor needed to be mopped, and the furniture was all dinged up. I do have to say the bathroom was very clean and beautiful. I am not saying all of the rooms are like this, I just feel our room was especially “worn out”. Our room was #410 for reference. For this kind of money, the room should be in great condition and we should be able to walk on the floors without being grossed out and having to wear shoes. For $400 a night sure, but not $800+. We will come back again and try another room next time because we did enjoy the experience overall.

We traveled last week to this resort with our children and grandchildren as part of my birthday present. First, the staff at The Wave were all wonderful, from booking to followup questions and also during our stay. They are kind, helpful and make you feel welcome. A special shout out to Kate, who we spoke to frequently. The resort and surrounding area are fabulous for families and even just couples. It’s absolutely beautiful, spotless and a very friendly place to go. The restaurants were great too. We also took note the ADA room had a terrace facing the water with a beautiful view. Often times these rooms face a parking lot for some strange reason! Theres literally something for everyone including beautiful views and access to a boardwalk and a great clean beach which is right there. We travel with our daughter, who is in a wheelchair. As the staff told us, the resort is extremely accessible. That is very true and the surrounding stores and restaurants and Pier Village were all very easy to access with our daughter, which we appreciated. The only big negative was the room itself. The ADA room did not have adequate space to navigate the room nor was the shower easy to use with someone in a wheelchair who needs assistance. It was too small. The sink was not high enough for our very small daughter to be wheeled under and therefore she could not even her hands at all the entire time we were there! The faucet is way too far back as well. No table. No chair. We drank coffee sitting on our bed. She had to hold a cup of juice in her lap. No place for her computer. And the room made a sharp 90 degree angle turn from the entrance and bathroom to the beds. It was not comfortable for us. If the room was better and more adequate this would be an absolute perfect place that we would come to again and again. They need a higher sink, a shelf somewhere for toiletries, bigger drawers ((3 people with 4 tiny drawers!), a table and chairs, and more room in general to navigate a wheelchair. If they were able to make an ADA suite that would be amazing. We want to return here but hope they take my suggestions to heart and fix this.

Overall it was a great family trip, but I have issues with the check-in/check-out experience…
I booked the hotel through Amex as it is part of the “hotel collection”, which provides a room upgrade and late checkout (when available) as well as a guaranteed $100 food and beverage credit. When checking in I was told that a room upgrade was not available because the hotel was completely booked for the entire weekend. But shortly afterwards, someone whom I was traveling with (who booked the exact same room via amex) was told that they would get a room upgrade. This is despite the fact that I had a larger party and was more in need of the additional space. They probably checked in ~30 minutes afterwards so I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden a room became available.
Secondly, I was told that I could have a complementary late check out of 12pm which is an hour later than the normal checkout. However, the other party I traveled with was given a late checkout of 3pm. Again, there was no difference in status, it was all of our first time visiting the hotel, and we all inquired around the same time about the late checkout…
My final issue is that upon checkout the $100 credit was not automatically applied to my bill even though I was told that it would be during my check-in. I was eventually issued a refund for $100 after I brought it up to the desk clerk. This is probably the one time where everyone is treated equally as the same exact thing happened to the other party that I traveled with. They were not issued the food/beverage credit and only realized it was missing once I brought it up to them.
I would say that the management needs to streamline the experience and train all of their desk staff on how to provide equal customer service. I was not told about the discounts given to guests of the hotel nor additional parking options outside of valet, both things that I heard explained to others during check in. I also did not have a crib in my room that was requested during booking, and my terrace did not have chairs until I called to request them. These are all things that should be automatic given the cost/presentation of the hotel. At this time I would suggest exploring other options though the location and pool were wonderful.

Front desk staff has been impolite and unhelpful throughout our stay through multiple interactions.
When we arrived yesterday, there was another guest expressing a concern (politely) and I saw the front desk staff and manager dismissing her and they were rude to her. They didn’t even acknowledge I was there, even though I had been standing there for a couple of minutes.
This morning housekeeping came by twice (before 10 am) to ask if we want cleaning and we said yes, in half an hour. We returned hours later and they never cleaned our room.
I called the front desk to ask for housekeeping (the third time today asking for housekeeping to come while we are out of the room). I requested for them to come at 2:15 or after (when we know we’d be gone). Sheena at the front desk said I’d have to go down there at 2:15 and request a cleaning so the front desk could dispatch them. I asked if they could dispatch them at 2:15 because we know we will be gone. Sheena said no because we don’t know if we’ll be out of the room then. I said yes we do, we have a family event to attend at 2 pm. She still wouldn’t do it. I asked to speak with the hotel supervisor and the call was disconnected.
About five minutes later, Taylor the supervisor called our room. I explained our stay here has been awful from the start. (In fact yesterday when we checked in, my husband said he hates this place and is never staying again.)
I explained the issue to Taylor and how disappointing our stay has been. (There were some additional issues that I won’t detail here because this is getting long.)
Taylor apologized, is sending up housekeeping at 2:15 (I don’t know why that couldn’t be done from the start), and waived the $189 resort fee we were charged.
I shouldn’t have to request FOUR times for housekeeping while we are gone, but that’s what it took at The Wave.
I am currently, unfortunately, here until the end of our stay. I am only giving them two stars because the room was very clean when we arrived and because Taylor waived the resort fee. We will never come back here again.

We spent 4 nights at The Wave and loved it and also long branch, NJ. The boutique hotel has lovely rooms ( ours oceanfront with a terrace) and we also had a view down the coastline. We were entertained by dolphins and then a whale in front of us! Bed was comfy, bathroom spacious and lovely. Chairs, umbrellas and towels were place on the beach everyday - no need to ask.the outdoor heated pool w swim up bar was great. In very close proximity is the pier village where shops and many restaurants are located. No need to drive anywhere. Valet in/out parking is $55 /night - but we felt worth it! Overall - we loved everything about our stay. Note: the room fridge is actually a mini bar so no room for your “stuff” No ice machine but ice will be delivered to your room on request. Expensive but worth it this time !

The Hotel and location are very nice, walking to nearby restaurants we really appreciated. We went to Sirena and Avenue Le Club, great food and great service although a bit expensive. We will agree with users about the noise from events on the top floor, that seems to be an issue. If staying during the winter, it takes a long time to heat up the room. While I understand having uncarpeted floors being a beach location, it just adds to the cold feel of the room offseason. We went on more of a winter spa getaway, which the daily room prices seemed reasonable. I looked at the summer pricing and can say I’d never pay those rates for what you’re getting. No major issues with the SPA, however the wording of tip included was confusing. The last thing I found unjustified was the daily resort fee for off season stays, during the summer I get it as you have the pool as a major expense, but during the winter its not paying for much and should be reduced or removed. They mentioned it pays for free valet, but $45 a night for free valet is crazy. We did have numerous billing issues at the hotel that at first the staff couldn't explain. In the end Kate and James did a super job figuring the billing issues out and even made good on the mistakes. I was called ‘210 Tom’ since I visited the front desk so many times for all the issues. Thanks again Kate and James

Just had our Holiday party on Friday night for the second year and it was a great experience. The food was all excellent and the shining star was Kevin our Maitre d' who made sure everything was perfect. We also booked a block of rooms for our quests and everyone complemented on how nice the rooms were and how everything was spotlessly clean. Also would like to thank the front desk for a great job checking everyone in and making sure our gift was given to each guest. We will be back again next year for sure.

The location can't be beat. We got an oceanfront room which was very nice, clean, well appointed, etc. They have a nice pool with a bar on the 2nd floor. Fitness center was small but OK. the major downside is that for a hotel that is charging $800 per night it felt like we got nickel and dimed. They charge for overnight parking even thought they have a huge parking lot that never even seemed half full ($50 per night). They charged for Wifi. Really? $800 per night doesnt get you free Wifi? They made you sign a waiver that if you lost the wrist band they would charge $35 per wrist band. Just not the high end atmosphere i expect at that price point. PS don't eat at the bagel place in the lobby it is awful. Would i go back? Probably not but if you want to stay on the beach in Long Branch there is only one other option so they kinda have you cornered.
