I was very much looking forward to a two-night stay at this establishment on Labor Day weekend. I contacted the owner, Todd, weeks in advance via the mail address on the website. We exchanged a few emails, he offered me a price and I accepted. Come the Friday before Labor Day weekend, I realized that he did not tell me what time check-in was so I sent him another email. To my amazement, he responded that he had given our room to someone else!!!! He claimed one email ended up in spam, acted like this was no big deal, offered a free night for another date and gave me the name of a few other hotel owners. Hoping to salvage the holiday weekend, I contacted a couple of them. One had to be drunk when he answered the phone. Another wanted a 3-night minimum. I quickly realized that my plans were ruined. Todd said something about "options". I asked him to do the right thing and let me have the room since it was originally promised to me. God forbid he do that .. that was the last I heard from him. Todd, I don't want a free night or two free nights at your place. That is just insulting! And, what if I hadn't emailed about the check-in time and driven all the way to Cape May ... If this was just a screw-up, that is sad because you only have three rooms in this place. How can you mismanage booking for three rooms? I hope that you are taking pleasure in your other booking and in the fact that you ruined someone else's holiday weekend. Travelers, save yourself some headaches and avoid this fiasco of a "business" at all costs.…
This was our first stay in the Eldridge House B & B in Cape May in November 2017. We spoke with Todd, who runs this wonderful little guest home and he was very friendly and accommodating for our tight schedule. He upgraded us to one of the upstairs rooms which was beautifully furnished and so cozy with a little electric fireplace and TV and bath. The bed was very comfortable and the sitting room downstairs was wonderfully decorated with Christmas decorations, a little tree and warm and cold beverages. It's tucked away, but right where we needed to be to enjoy our anniversary. The restaurant across the street was excellent, and the Eldridge house provides a gift certificate with your stay to eat your breakfast at the restaurant across the street or a few other neat places. We try to visit Cape May about every year at different B & B's, for an over night stay, and we will revisit the Eldridge House again!…
Great place in Cape May and Todd the owner is very helpful about all things Cape May. The house dates to the 1780s and has many historic touches. The Eldridge House provides vouchers for a number of local eating spots for breakfast which gives you an opportunity to visit different places for breakfast. We tried the Bella Vida, right across the street and George's Place. Both were excellent. A great stay.
We came back to this lovely bed and breakfast with our last visit being over 10 years ago. It really has a lot of historic character and charm. It is very quiet and within waking distance of many things including the beach, restaurants, and shopping, etc. As noted in other reviews Todd, the Innkeeper, is a wonderful host. He really is there to make your stay enjoyable with suggestions for restaurants, sightseeing, and shopping, and getting around Cape May, He also volunteered to provide a ride back from dinner which was very much appreciated. Very hospitable. The property has off street parking which is a plus. We highly recommend for a get away stay! We intend to make another visit to this Gem soon!
Charming guest house in enchanting West Cape May. Room was spacious, super clean and every detail taken into account in the handsomely appointed quarters. The gardens provide a wonderful environment to relax and get back in touch with nature. Looking forward to my next trip in the Fall.
