The worst choice in hotels I've made in a while. I'm trying to understand why they are still charging a resort fee of $29.95 + 13% tax and a $100 incidental fee. There's absolutely NOTHING "resortish" about the stay. No ice machine on our floor, no microwave/refrigerator in the rooms, no coffee pot in the rooms (If you wanted coffee, $3.50 a cup), no housekeeping cleaning rooms for 4days AND we had to go get our own towels. Equivalent to that 6 Motel where at least they leave the light on for you. Panhandlers were really bad in the casino area.

You've seen the WILDLY DIFFERING reviews on The D. Here is the ACTUAL way it is: The place has almost 700 rooms. Some can be very loud, but some are extremely QUIET. If you're checking in on Sunday through Thursday, you'll have NO problem requesting and receiving a QUIET room. If you arrive late on a Friday or anytime on a Saturday, you may be stuck with loud room. If you ASK, however, they can likely help you out with a quieter room, EVEN late on a Friday or on a Saturday. Don't forget, they want to make you happy. Some reviews complain about the condition of the rooms when they check in. First of all, if you get to your room and it's unacceptable for ANY reason, phone the front desk, tell them the problem, and advise them you're coming downstairs to switch room keys for another room. Like I said, they have almost 700 rooms, they'll find you a good one. Once again, they want to keep you happy. All of that being said, when I arrived on a Tuesday at noon, I was given a freshly cleaned room with cool decorating, a very comfy bed, NO cigarette odor, and NO noise at night. Like I said, all you have to do is ask. Like most Las Vegas hotels, The D is short on housekeepers at the moment. Before you leave your room in the morning, call Housekeeping and request a bunch of fresh towels, shampoo & conditioner, and "T.P.". It will be delivered to your room before you return. Also, you CAN get your room completely serviced everyday, if you chat with a Housekeeper on your floor. Just tell them your room number, give them a $2 or $3 tip, and your room will be COMPLETELY serviced before you return. Once again, all you have to do is ask. The casino floor at The D is a loud and rocking place. The joint is always jumping, much like its sister property, Circa. The great thing about Fremont Street in (old) Downtown Las Vegas is that other casinos are only a 30 second WALK away. There are casinos to fit everyone! If you want a quieter place with an older demographic, walk next door to the Four Queens or across the street to The Fremont. If you want gritty history, Binion's is a one minute walk down the street. There are also 6 other casinos I haven't named that are only a 2 to 5 minute walk from The D. One of the FANTASTIC benefits of staying at The D is FREE access for two (every day of your stay) to Stadium Swim at Circa just down the street. If you DON'T know what Stadium Swim is, google it IMMEDIATELY! That FREE access is worth about $40 to $60 per day, depending on how much Stadium Swim is charging non-guests of The D, Circa, and the Golden Gate. Finally, some TRULY incredible special rates can be found on The D official website. My Tuesday - Friday rate was $14.50 per night. That's NOT a misprint. Like all Las Vegas hotels, there is a Resort Fee ($28 per night) for a nightly total of $42.50. Yes, Las Vegas still "gives away" rooms if you know where to look. Oh, and don't forget those 2 FREE passes to Stadium Swim every day! Air conditioning is FANTASTIC, even in 105 degree heat! If you've got a car, parking is free in a NON-threatening on-site parking lot. Things always change, but in the immediate future, there is no better overall hotel experience in Downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street area) than The D!

Decided to stay a night to see my cousin....VERY friendly staff, bartenders and servers! The rooms are basic, upon check in only had 2 wash clothes and hand towels, asked housekeeping for towels..got only 2 and said if we wanted more would have to go down to front desk....really, a towel shortage? TV is small and limited channels...they want you gamble. No extras...refrigerator, coffee maker of microwave...want you buy $6 coffee, etc. Don't believe there is WI-FI as we weren't informed of it and couldn't connect. Loud and lots of noise...hard to sleep...tons of drunk young people! Pool is small and intimate..very nice. Lastly check in is 3pm...good luck, had to wait over an hour and didn't get quiet room...instead over bandstand!

I gave them a 3 because all of the staff tried hard and I got what I paid for. Maybe it was just the time we went but the hotel seemed full of rude, drunk 20 year olds. It was bad at night , so we went to bed early and thought we would gamble early in the morning. Guess what-there were remnants from the night before-sleeping on the chairs, swearing drunkenly. Again, I have to commend the staff, they really tried to take care of these problems. One night, we were up most of the night due to groups shouting down the halls, or laughing and singing…etc. Again….. I got what I paid for, I made the mistake.

We were happy with our room when we first got there, it was right on Fremont Street and convenient. But if you want to go to bed and think you are gonna be able to sleep-think again! There was extremely loud music and bands playing til 2 AM. If you have a room facing Fremont St you will hear extremely loud chaos. I called the front desk and they said they were full and couldn’t move us-the next morning I mentioned it when checking out and they just said they know that side of the building is always loud and she shrugged her shoulders. I will never stay there again-I will stick to the main strip.
