The Sandigan Dive Resort is one of our favorite places to stay and to dive! We are beyond impressed by the beautiful view from the dining balcony, the charm of the facility, including family friendly extras, the helpful staff, the diving opportunities and of course Erwin the owner, head dive master and genuinely nice person. We experienced several dives with dive master Ryna and consider the dives comparable to Central America’s Cancun and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. We received professional care with transportation to and from the dive site and in getting in and out of the water. I witnessed the guidance of our dive master and the boat staff. Thank you Sandigan Dive Resort!!

Hi Beverly, it's been such a pleasure for us to welcome you and your family again and again to our little resort. Cabilao Island is one of the most beautiful reefs here in the Philippines and we love that we can share it with wonderful guests like you. Hope to see you again soon. Best, SDR Team! :)

Everything was absolutely perfect and everything was though of and catered for. My family were nervous as I was going as a solo female traveller and the resort staff looked after me and I felt completely safe with transfers and diving. The diving was magnificent as was the boat and gear, the dive masters were fantastic and the resort staff were very professional and considerate. The food was yummy and had a mix of local and western dishes. The room was luxurious and I felt absolutely relaxed with sunrises and sunsets and diving every day! Cannot thank the staff enough and I hope to come back. I had so much fun and it was a real treat.

We stayed there 2 nights , the room was clean and good decorated but there is no fridge and internet never worked, we asked couple of times to restart the modem but they did not even restarted. The kitchen stuff is nice and trying to do everything but i can not say the same for managers and owner, first of all they are all money oriented, the first time you arrive without giving the key and let you change or refresh they ask you the payment and they welcome you with credit card machine, eventough the price is fixed by booking or wherever you made your reservation for everything you want to spend money they charge you %5 more. The name of the resort is Sandigan İslang DİVE CENTER so i guess most of people is going there to make a dive so that was the reason also we were there, they told us everyone is tired and there is no minimum of 4 people so they can not do diving!!! so they offered a night diving in the backyard of the resort... The other scandal is day trips, they told us we can go to day trip , we can see 9 places and the cost is 3500 which is around 70 Usd , we accepted it but ended up only seeing 3 places and we have been token out the resort back, the other caos is taxi, while going to hotel from airport we paid 1000 Pesos which is around 20 Usd for a distance of 75 km , for going back to boat in Cebu which is around 30 km , they charged us 2000 which is half of the distance but 2 times more money. When you are on vacation of course you are there to spend money but to fell like stupid about being overcharged is making people sad. We definitely do not recommend this place because of the overall mentality and how they see the client like a money tree, if you go please be carefull about the extra money they are trying to make on you

Thank you for your review. We are quite surprised that you had such a different experience than most of our guests. When working with third party companies like the driver service we are not in control over the prices they charge, it's at the discretion of our guests to use the service or not. Weather conditions which can be unpredictable and dangerous here in the Philippines made it impossible to use our speedboat during your stay, like always the safety of our guests is most important. I do hope you got the enjoy the beauty of Bohol and would love to welcome you back again in the future. :)

The room and amenities are fresh, clean and modern. The owners make you feel like family. Staff are sincere and hospitable. They have a great restaurant/bar/lounge. It's a "dive resort" but families are also welcome. There are thoughtful appointments if you have a baby/toddler, such as a high chair in the resto, infant cot in the room and a shallow portion in the swimming pool. I also love how quiet the place is, perfect if you just want to get away from it all.

Beautiful and brand new boutique style resort. The dive equipment is brand new and the dive team incredibly professional. Cabilao island offers beautiful reefs from a speed boat, rather than the old slow launches elsewhere on Bohol. Can highly recommend a visit,

This was my second trip to resort and everything was just as good as the first. The resort was quiet and very relaxing. Service was excellent; the owners and top-notch staff are very friendly and caring. The room was comfortable, food was great and portion sizes were very good. I was pleased to see a change to the breakfast menu since my first stay; some additional choices are included with complimentary breakfast. Diving was great and the resort is blessed to have such convenient access to some fantastic reefs. This is a very well run dive resort and I hope to return again someday.

We loved our stay here. It's a very small resort, total of 8 rooms, with king size beds. I believe the can be turned into 2 singles if so desired. Not sure if there are roll-away beds, etc for smaller kids/infants. Very European flair, built to withstand earthquakes and with very little noise from adjacent room; very unique and clean decor. Large rooms and bathrooms. The green space beyond the shower is one's personal little garden, which gives green and light into the bathroom space, but you cannot access it, but it's completely private. All the rooms face east and have large windows and glass doors, beautiful! But bring an sleep mask if you're a late sleeper and light sensitive. No rooms have ocean view, since they are built along the walkway that's perpendicular to the ocean. There is ok wifi in the rooms and decent in the lounge. Good a/c, and quiet rooms for sleeping.
The garden space is very beautifully maintained. The pool is nice, though we had to ask for pool towels and only got one each. I prefer having 2, so I can use one as a pillow for reading, but I felt too shy to ask for another. But that's me.
The restaurant and lounge area is spacious and relaxing. Beautiful view. There is really no beach, it's mostly rocks, and not ideal to swim right from the shore. Since its shallow, you may step on things as you're walking out, and there's lots of seaweed. But you can canoe out and swim/snorkel from there. They built a little man-made sandy area by the shore, but you can't frolic in the waves at the beach, really.
They offer dive trips, dive courses, snorkeling excursions, and help you book many activities on the main island. The owners are savvy, trustworthy and know their way around, have some good connections.
Many of their employees live right adjacent of the property, and sleep early at night, so it's not an ideal place for loud, late parties. Because the employees are nearby, there is this little community that has an interest in your safety, and no one comes down the little dirt road toward the (fenced) resort unnoticed. We felt very safe and ended up leaving our room unlocked for the most part. We had our few valuables locked out of sight.
The employees are all very nice, respectful and helpful. The food was good, if some of the prices seemed a bit random, but for a resort acceptable. We never had the urge to venture outside for food.
The room rate includes toast, butter, jam, juice that reminded me of Orange tang, and two eggs, no substitutes. I don't eat many eggs in general since I'm vegetarian leaning vegan, but I was able to get fruit instead of eggs, which was nice.
Their diving/snorkelling equipment seemed of good quality and in good shape, but I'm not very knowledgeable about it.
It was very quiet, relaxing time we had there and enjoyed ourselves very much.

We do also have roll-away beds for extra people in the room, this option is available. This is an excellent find for anyone wanting to dive around Cabilao or complete dive training. The resort is very well run and offers clean, comfortable and relaxing facilities. This is really a hidden gem. It's difficult for me to think many places that I can recommended to anyone, whether you are a solo diver, couple, or family.
The resort itself is small and intimate. There are only 8-10 rooms on the property, so you will receive individual attention from the staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The whole property was recently built and the owners clearly put a great deal of care and effort into the design. Rooms are uniquely furnished, bright, and comfortable. The entire property was well maintained and kept with an attention to detail.
The staff made this resort stand out. From the owners, to the dive staff, to the service personnel, they all will do everything reasonable to make sure you are satisfied and comfortable. I can't speak highly enough of the warm and friendly hospitality during my say. The food at the resort was very good. Although priced slightly higher than I had expected, meals were delicious and portions were filling. There is plenty of variety on the menu but I hope to see some expanded local and regional choices when I return.
I completed a dive certification with Erwin, one of the owners, during my stay. Instruction was through SSI, which offers excellent online/electronic learning. Erwin's experience through the practical portion of the course really made it an informative, yet enjoyable experience. The dive center maintains a very high standard of safety and has knowledgable staff and guides. Quality rental gear is available and maintained in excellent condition. Cabilao has some fantastic diving and is only a short (15-20 min) boat ride. The main boat is spacious and comfortable; I don't see it ever being crowded since this is a smaller dive resort. My stay here was great and I can't wait to return!

How do I get to the hotel from the Bohol ferry port?
Answer from Erwin
Bohol Province, Philippines4 contributions2 helpful votes
From Tagbilaran airport Sandingan Dive Resort is only one hour by car!
Answer from Divergirl Richelle
Bohol Island, Philippines1 contribution2 helpful votes
Good morning Bee, The Open Water Dive course from Padi takes 4-5 days. If you do the online learning and online exams (just go to PADI website and look for OW e-learning) it will speed the practical course up and it would be possible in 3-4 days. Once you have done all the Pool dives and the Ocean dives and performed all the tasks satisfactory, you would get a temporary certification until Padi sends the official certification card to your home by mail, which will take a few weeks. Open Water Diver cost 18.000 peso, we will deduct 4000 peso if you have done the e-learning, so it comes to 14.000 peso. When arriving at Cebu airport you need to travel to Bohol, which is the neighbouring island, there is no bridge. You will need to take the ferry. You can rent a car at Cebu airport and then take the car on the ferry but this is quite expensive. We advise to take a taxi from the airport to the port at Cebu and have the taxi stop at the place to buy ferry tickets, to Tubigon (port city closest to us). We can then arrange pick up in Tubigon for 1000 peso. if you do not wish to take taxi's in Cebu, we also have a driver in Cebu who works for us, his charge is 1200 peso for the first 3 hours, so he could pick you up, buy tickets for the ferry (280 peso per person) and drop you off at the ferry terminal. Please contact us via our website (sandingan-diveresort) for any further questions. Please also let us know when you are thinking of staying with us, so we can tell you if we have vacancies. look forward to hearing from you, Richelle
