Given all the concerns with covid, I had been very demanding about the safety of the people coming with me. It was a celebratory trip but with a lot of concern from those attending . Everything, and I mean everything was perfect. Our tents were luxurious with outdoor decks overlooking the river. The cozy beds with heated blankets were absolutely perfect for the chilly mornings. North Bank Camp was located in an area of the sprawling property where you saw no one. The expansive views were stunning and we explored every inch by the electric bikes they provided and by foot.
Our private pavilion was a dream and we gathered there for breakfast, yoga, dinner, and “arts and crafts”. We had a fantastic butler everything morning named Brittany who had the fire lit and the coffee brewed before 7 am. She took our breakfast orders and our personal chef made the yummiest breakfasts we have ever had. I highly recommend the pancakes which are light as air. At night we had two of the absolutely BEST butlers, Noah and Sienna, who bartended , served food, and made fires inside and campfires outside the pavilion . They were such fun that we all wanted to pack them in our bags when we left. The dinner chef prepared meals that were 5 star and visually looked like pieces of art. Every meal our plates were clean.
Due to our desire to be away from people, Paws Up and my contact Drew Bigda created customized experiences for us that were unforgettable. Polaris rides to Elevation mountain and a ghost town,, a private trail ride, 90 minute massages, a day spent on Salmon Lake and the lodge, a horse drawn wagon ride to a private chuck wagon dinner including hatchet throwing and lasso lessons and finally a dinner on the last night at a location in the middle of the woods near a stretch of water that was breathtaking. The gourmet chef cooked seafood paella on an open campfire and gave us an 8 course dinner that was truly unforgettable!
And if that wasn’t enough....they were able to bring in artists and jewelry makers to teach us and a local singer to add “icing” to our already perfect “cake” of a trip.
Everything I asked for happened and happened better than I could have ever envisioned it. The Resort at Paws Up and their staff are worth every penny and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a once in a lifetime experience that you are going to want to happen every year!

Paws UP has moved to number one on our list of family vacation spots. The staff, the accomodations and overal attitude of everyone there made this an awesome trip. The lodge was warm and inviting, the food left you wanting for more as it was so good. We enjoyed snowmobiling; dog sledding; sleigh riding and the grandchildren were able to have time in the arena along with making snow angels and snowmen. Tubing down the mountain was a first time experience and so much fun. Going during New Years made it a bit pricey until you realized how many additional perks were given while there. The fireworks display was top notch along with the live music and great food. We highly recommend this for a fun filled yet relaxing vacation. It was nice being pampered.

This is our second visit to Paws UP!! We stayed at the North Bank Camp this time. It is near the Chuck wagon dining area. Walking distance. You definitely want to enjoy this outing with family and younger children. The tents in this Camp are higher up from the Black foot River and offer a great view. The river is very fast and at night you can hear the roar of the River. It is stunning!!! Our family consisted of our 8 year old son, and our 19 year old daughter. My husband and son enjoyed fly fishing and caught many fish with their guide. My daughter and I enjoyed the ATV's and horseback riding. I highly recommend a trail ride. We spotted a herd of elk, a coyote and lots of cattle. The views on the trail ride are stunning!!! The horses are very gentle. however; if you are comfortable with horses, let them know you are the boss and you will not stand for them stopping for grass every so often. If you are planning your trip and looking for tips...I recommend packing old clothes to ride horses. Jeans and a jacket. It can be cooler in the mornings if you choose a morning ride. The ATV ride was very dusty. They provide a gaiter to cover your mouth. Pack a plastic bag for your dirty clothes. Great family trip. We only stayed 3 nights this trip because it was so packed. Our family went in June and the covid numbers in Montana were below 70.

We arrived by car, and received a luke warm welcome. (Maybe the personal pick up at the airport would be nicer) The road signage is not good; it was frustrating to know where to check in at the large property. Room not ready, enjoy lunch and expect a page when the room is ready. No page. We check back at 4 after doing a walk on our own, and get a map to drive ourselves to the cabin--no offer to lead us there or help with bags. ($2000 a night really?) We stayed in a Meadow House that is more like a nice house than a warm, cozy glamorous cabin in the woods. Happy to have a hot tub, but temp is set at 80, so takes a day to warm up. No fireplace. Much bigger than we need for 2 people. Housekeeping was frequently very late in the day. Staff seemed new and inexperienced, but all were friendly. Food is good, not great. Orange juice is NOT fresh squeezed; dinner at Pomp only offered 3 entree choices, a meat, fish and veggie. There were 2 (yes, two) scallops in the fish dinner. The inclusive house wines were all the Hess brand which is decent, but more variety should be offered. Lunch and breakfast menu did not change during our stay.
Activities are almost all a la carte, and pricey. Took a guided hike, enjoyed the conversation but the guide did not know birds or wildflowers along the route. Also not given the correct info about where to meet for the hike. No snacks offered. Enjoyed the horse back riding, and fat tire biking. No snacks.
The resort feel very impersonal, almost all requests for service are done by the app. When my husband tried to order a beer to enjoy in the hot tub, he called the restaurant and is told to use the app. App says we can buy a 6 pack for $18. Really, at $2000 a night?
This is not a review of the glamping experience which sounds very nice, but we don't plan to return to Paws Up to try it. I was scoping out a place for a big family get together for 12 people, and need to keep looking.

I dont even know where to start since we were overwhelmed with problems!
There is zero communication from concierge leading up to arrival. No one answers the phone or emails. Our room was filthy when we arrived… apparently house keeping forgot to clean the room… it wasnt ready until almost 6pm
The activities are a scam. Were are promised one thing by the concierage, and then told an entirly different thing by the activity personell. For instance, we were promised that our private horse back riding group would be allowed to do some western style riding since we were all experienced. The concierge even upsold us to a private group so we could really open up… but the wrangler insisted it was camp policy to only allow trail riding.
Fly fishing was a scam. Half of our 4 hour experience was spent in some beat up ford truck getting to the location, loading and unloading the boat…
Austin Lucket was a manager who offered to be out point of communication for the week… but when i tried to contact him, i got an out of office message!
We clawed back 2500$ from these weasles. 1500 in straight compensation and $1000 refund for our horseback riding.
The daily wait for transportation was absurd. Oftentimes we had to wait up to 30min to get around the resort.
Staffing issue. Managemnt doenst care. Every employee is new. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I find the few negative reviews unlikely and potentially a problem that is about those people. The staff here is so kind, the location stunning, and activities are so memorable, that anyone unhappy here seems to be just unhappy period. We ran into one customer yelling that they should "bump" other customers off an activity because his family is paying more and should get the preference, the employee very politely declined and he just kept yelling. He called someone and yelled at the person on the phone, then he got off the phone and started back in on the staff. Some people should not be welcome at a place as wonderful as this, and I hope that one is out!
My family loves Paws Up, we will be here every year from this point forward!

Dear Y9572GJconniec, Thank you for your support and staying with us. While we feel terrible that this was a part of your experience, maybe it is time to remind the world of travelers that traveling is a big decision to make at this time. If you allow it, it can cause a lot of stress and sometimes unique responses to challenges that are not the norm. We are still eager to serve those guests and we must be better and finding a solution, we are hospitality people after all and we love to see people happy and enjoy Montana. As it would seem you did. Thank you again for the supportive message, it is valuable to us and we look forward to serving you in the years to come! Steve Hurst Managing Director

Great concept and amazing property! However, sadly while the potential is there, it is run VERY poorly. Not many food options… so when we stayed for a week… lots of us kept eating the same meals over and over. And for some reason they ran out of various foods daily… how does a resort run out of ribs twice in just a few days… and even knives. Our family had to share one plastic knife. Biggest frustration was while the activities are amazing and super fun… they are super vague about how long you get to actually do each of these expensive activities. For instance… for the 3 hour jet ski activity… be prepared to actually jet ski for only 1 hour. And be prepared at the 2 hour archery… for each participant to only shoot 18 arrows total. Each person only shoots 2 arrows at each of the 9 stations. Sadly, my kids and niece and nephew did not enjoy it because of this. We had 5 kids plus myself doing the archery… but they only brought 1 kids bow. We had to share 3 bows and rotate one at a time. So much just standing around. We actually overheard our activity guides talking to the, selves about how short they needed to cut our activity so they could be on time for meeting the next group. And these activities are expensive… so we should except to have our full time. While I loved Montana, the inflexibility and inefficient way Paws Up is run was so frustrating that I was ready to leave and will not return.

When our trip to Europe was cancelled, we were left scrambling for a safe alternative. I'll admit I almost called it off after reading a few of the reviews but I am SO glad we didn't! It's true that this is very expensive spot but it's wonderful in every way. We split our time between a two bedroom Cliffside tent and Big Timber home. I'd do it that way again. Our campgroud was right on the Blackfoot River. Our camp butlers, Hannah, Greta and Gio were wonderful. They deliver hot coffee in the morning, make delicious cocktails, build fires for s'mores in the evening and just about anything else you can think of to make your stay more comfotable. Our cabin was spacious, beautifuly appointed and extremelty private.
We attended the Big Sky Bash, Chuck Wagon and Family BBQ. They are doing a wonderful job of keeping people safe...we always had our own table that was a very good distance from others. Everyone wore masks while being served, etc. Fun games, great service and wonderful live music at all of them. Huge shout out to Executive Chef, Sunny Jin! He has a great team...we loved every single meal.
There are loads of activities to choose from. We tried to do as many as we could during our week there. My youngest daughter did three horseback rides with wrangler Ronnie. She was very good with her and totally went the extra mile to make it an experience she'll never forget. We also loved working with Katy with the rifles and ropes course. Both girls were just fantastic role models for my daughters and so, so good at what they do!
As if all of that wasn't enough, they really went the extra mile to make my daughter's 13th birthday special. They delivered a custom cake to us while on their private island on Salmon Lake and arranged for their guest chef, Jessica Foster, to surprise her for an outdoor truffle making lesson on the patio of our cabin. Not only does she make the most delicious truffles we've ever had, she was as sweet as they come.
Paws Up- we didn't miss being in Europe once and are so glad we discovered you! Thank you for such an unforgettable week! We will be back!

This has no doubt been a challenging year for all of us, but when we find a new guest that had a bad circumstance lead you to our door, we are proud to have the opportunity to serve you. You mentioned a number of our tremendous staff and thank you for taking the time to do so, I know it will mean the world to them! We spent a week as family at Paws Up in a Wilderness Estates home and had a wonderful time. The resort itself is gorgeous and the activities were a lot of fun. We chose Fly Fishing, Clay Shooting and ATV'ing. The homes are perfect for a large family; we had plenty of room too enjoy together but also have privacy when needed. The service here seems to be lacking quite a bit but I don't blame them as it's a remote location so I'm sure it's hard to keep this fully staffed with everything that is going on. Overall we had a great stay...it really is a beautiful resort.

We recently did two things at Paws Up that involved watercraft. For a resort that charges $2000+ for a night and then charges additional for the "experiences" we were sadly dissappointed. The leadership should spend a few nights at Amangiri or Amangani to see how good guest services are provided.
For both of our trips we had to ride with the people towing the watercraft. In both cases around 30 minutes. And then wait for them to unload the watercraft. The watercraft should have been transported ahead of the guests, unloaded and ready to go when the guests arrived. The guests should have been transported separately in a luxury vehicle. One of our vehicles did not have a working AC so we were all hot and dusty both to the launch and back.
We were offered a warm bottle of water upon retuning from one of the trips. That was the extent of the "creature comforts." For the price, I would have expected, cold water, a choice of other cold beverages, sunscreen, perhaps a resort branded hat, and a cold refreshing towel upon our return. Now that's what you get for $2000 per night at other resorts!
The watercraft were dirty and dusty. Again, should have all been wiped down and pristine by the time the guests arrived to climb aboard.
I will say the staff was engaging and polite, but the execution of the two "experiences" was what I would have expected from a very inexpensive bargain- basement provider.
To summarize.....it's just not worth the price. You will get better service at a place that is in the neighborhood of $500 a night, so save your money and go someplace else.

Dear Tour773003, We are very apologetic to the challenges you experienced during your stay with us at Paws Up. We do charge for additional guided activities on the beautiful lakes and rivers of Montana do have an additional cost. The lodging does include some non-guided inclusive activities and we do disclose all this at time of booking, on our website and during the scheduling process. We certainly don't want to surprise anyone with these costs. I agree the watercraft should have been cleaned after the drive and before you got in, we do transport with the guide to the activity, we can arrange for operate transport if desired. Our guides also normally bring a cooler and we will follow up as to why that didn't occur and am apologetic for that. Again, please accept our apologies for the two experiences in our activities, I hope you enjoyed the balance of the stay despite the experiences. Steve Hurst Managing Director

Exact rates are posted on their website and varies depending on time of year, number of guests and what type of accommodation you want. I would say between $2-4K per night for 2 adults
Rachael, We are a large resort and have the options of a on property shuttle system, a Lexus (if staying in a home) or of course walking and biking are great options. If you prefer to only have shorter walks, I would recommend talking to our reservations team and selecting a home within walking distance of the main village and Wilderness Outpost (where most activities depart from). We hope we can provide your family the vacation you are dreaming of!
The horseback riding was so fun for my family! I would also sign up for the go karts and the ropes course! There is also archery, whitewater river rafting and so many more activities to try!
Dear Amaccy,
As a resident here I can tell you that it can be inconsistent in December, but the odds are much more in your favor in January. We tend to get a lot of snow in late December through Late February. I hope this helps!

the green o is taking reservations for September now and will for sure be open for this stay. It is almost sold out for the month and with a specific home in mind I would schedule your stay as soon as possible.
We look forward to sharing the experience at the green o with you and are excited to open fully in about a week!
