This is a unique boutique hotel. To my knowledge, the only one of its kind in Springfield. Personally, I am tired of the cookie cutter, sterile, boring, mega chain low value, budget hotels with nothing nearby except more cookie cutter, sterile, boring..... I admire and support locally established businesses with a "story" like this one and the diversity of the many restaurants nearby. Yes, it is not perfect, and it is not meant to be. That is exactly what makes it shine. This is for the adventurous, the daring, the bohemian, the supporter of local creativity, hard work, community and initiative. The room I stayed in was the Pokhara. Large, high ceiling, shiny wood floor. Per info, some of the original wood from the remodel gutting out has been recycled and used to make furniture (bed frame, tables, shelves, closets, etc.). The king size bed is divine and manufactured locally ! The room is equipped with a sink, mini fridge and microwave. The highlight was the hot water kettle and the V60 brew filter for preparing the gourmet coffee provided. I have traveled quite extensively and never seen this type of brewer. I was impressed. The coffee was great. Looking for the same on Amazon ! Periodic noise from nearby railroad is a negative but it is part of the "experience" and I quickly got use to it. Some recommendations would be to provide a work table lamp and sound reducing windows. The diversity of the many restaurants nearby along the historic Commercial Street is outstanding. And they are authentic (Peruvian, Dutch, Cuban, Lebanese). There is something for everyone and all within walking distance. The historic downtown area is immaculate and really well developed. Free 2 hr street parking. No meters. Parking is on street adjacent to hotel and was not an issue. The hotel has a coffee shop that makes a delicious Breakfast Sandwich and "real" coffee. The espresso is the real thing. They even have light lunch/dinner options. It is run separately from the hotel. Friendly attentive staff. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. I felt safe, comfortable, in a special place and will definitely return.…
It’s a unique spot. Very eclectic. My wife and I think it has great potential, but really need some work. Cleanliness is a major matter for us. While the room is spacious, floors were not as clean as we expected. Also note it’s near the railroad and it has a skylight, if you’re sensitive to either. The street is so unique and has lots of shops and restaurants. It’s a historic one.
EXPEDIA's site and the hotel's do not speak to one another so when we got there, we were told our room had been rented. turns out, THANKFULLY that it was not, but they have a problem with that and are trying to get Expedia to take it down. ANYWAY, better than I thought it would be! Darling area with art and great restarants. Try the Italian place and the waffle place. delish! Also, if you get there on time, the hotel itself has a great little selection of foods and drinks and coffees. The room was one of my faves I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in some swanky places but this had so much love go into it and it was minimalistic without being bare. I ONLY gave 4 stars since there was no A/C. There were two heaters in the room but the A/C unit is locked and we had to go to Wal-Mart and buy a fan. There is no one on property after a certain time and the 2 numbers we had to call both had "full mailboxes". So you'll have to possibly wing it if any problems come up. The Wal-Mart was pretty close so it was okay. We felt perfectly safe, also.Anyway, the jet tub was delightful. We were on an overnight antiquing trip and would totes stay again!…
My wife and I stayed here two nights. Overall it was a nice experience. The place is very neat and the staff very friendly. The room was comfortable and the sauna tub was nice. The water though lacked pressure and wasn’t super hot. They missed a few details in the room that would have been nice. Overall I’d stay again.
This is a converted commercial building in an older Springfield shopping district that appears to be getting revitalized. The old brick building has a coffee shop on the ground floor and about a dozen rooms upstairs. The room I had was VERY large with a seating area and table by the kitchenette, then a bathroom followed by a bedroom area in the back. The owners clearly love coffee culture as evidenced by the cafe downstairs that was bustling when I arrived. Also evident in the in-room coffee which consisted of a pour-over set up: mug, filter & pour-over set up, and a bag of vacuum sealed fine coffee branded with their logo along with a kettle for the water. This is how I make coffee every morning, so I felt right at home. I'll definitely stay there again when in Springfield.
