Hotel was fine as most are in Starkville! I was happy they offered breakfast but they did run out of coffee which prompted a visit to Starbucks so I can't complain too much! I'm so glad we booked early as most were either sold out or jacked their prices up 3x the norm. Very easy access. We did have to go down and pickup sofa bed linens but other than that, I can't complain!
We would have gave it 5 stars but it could use some maintenance in the hallways and in the rooms. Very convenient, beds were nice and hot breakfast was good. Overall, not a bad place to stay. I was honestly scared to stay here based off some of the reviews I saw, but it was fine.
Couldn't find anything right on 45, so went off course a bit. Nice little place to rest your head right across from MS St. Clean, decent breakfast, friendly staff. Breakfast obv gets crowded and the area for it is fairly small. Not an issue, just for awareness. Don't stay at Comfort Suites typically, but wouldn't hesitate staying here again.
We booked the Comfort Suites in Starkville for move in weekend. We have stayed at the Comfort Suites on previous visits to Starkville with no issues so due to the closeness of the hotel to our child's residence, we opted to stay again. That is the only advantage the hotel has. I should have went with my first choice instead. This trip was not as good as our last ones. The room had a dirty moldy smell to it. I understand that it is the first of August and they have probably not had a lot of visitors over the summer with the college being closed and with COVID-19 but this would also allot time for cleaning. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling in the shower. The carpet in the room needs replacing badly. The air conditioner is the old style under the window that barely blows air and it was cool at best. Not good for August in Mississippi. The morning we were checking out, which check out is at 11:00, I heard housekeeping banging down the hall and thought they were just making sure no one was in the room they were about to go in. It was 10:00. I was drinking coffee going over my grocery list when housekeeping started banging on our door. Mind you, the do not disturb tag was on the door. We were packed and ready to go but just going over a few things waiting on our child to call. I asked the housekeeping lady if check in had changed from 11:00 and she said no and just looked at me. I said okay and turned to go back into the room and she just stood there outside our door. My husband, who is non-confrontational, said let's go. I found this very rude. Upon getting my receipt I asked the girl at the front desk what time check out was and she confirmed 11:00. I told her that housekeeping had ran us out of our room and she just laughed and said well she likes to get finished with her day early. Very unprofessional. Due to COVID, there was not a breakfast buffet - understandable. You receive a brown bag with a granola bar, an orange and a bottle of water. As for the staff wearing face-mask, the housekeeping staff member that was so rude did not have a mask on. I will not stay here again. They take advantage of the fact that they are directly across from the MSU campus entrance.…
This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Never again. First room had used soap in shower and door to room kept getting stuck. I changed to a different room because I didn't want to get locked inside. When I opened the door to the second room the smell was awful. I couldn't even go in. Third room is so dirty I hate the thought of having to sleep in the bed. This place needs to be cleaned up and repairs made. It is surprising that Choice Hotels allows this property to be a Comfort Suites. Even older hotels can at least be clean.
