Our plans to stay with friends fell through and we needed a room on the day of and we have a dog which can make things tricky sometimes. We had the front room which opened onto the porch and our own bathroom. The owner was very welcoming and happy. It's not too far out of town at all and was very quiet and peaceful. Our dog was happy sitting on the porch in the sunset just relaxing. We had a continental breakfast on the porch in the morning and purchased some coffee and home made jam from the little shop on the property.
A wonderful ye olde worlde cottage. Stayed here for 1 night as we had a nearby function to attend. Here's the good: Wonderful hosts. Couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely grounds & gardens Clean room. No musty smell, no dust or dirt. Big and thick towels. Warm bed. Charming decor. Somewhat early 1900's sort of art deco. Nice hot shower with decent water pressure. Great breakfast. it was huge! Tea & coffee available whenever. The not so good (really minor but worth noting). We stayed on a chilly night which was actually good as we find its easier to sleep in a cold room, but in the morning I could see why it was a chilly room - I saw cracks of sunlight coming through the floorboards! Not particular efficient for the aircon (had it been on). Some wooden architectural details could do with some touching up - the architrave around the bathroom skylight was separating from the mitred joins so it was just untidy. And the skywell where the skylight was could've done with a lick of paint. All in all a great spot to explore the Hunter region. Maitland is just down the road.…
We celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary at Maddies. Had the best room (including a clawfoot bathtub) with a verandah overlooking the beautiful garden. Alison and Angie are so friendly and welcoming. A delicious breakfast (including homemade frittata) was served in a lovely dining room. Thank you for a magical stay!
I booked here because I could bring my dachshund, I’ll stay here ten times more because of the thoughtfulness and care of the owner and staff. They have cooked and accommodated for us more than I could have hoped. They made us feel so special! Highly recommend a stay here.
Alison and her staff at Maddies could not have been more helpful in arranging a wonderful luncheon for a family celebration in January 2020. Accommodation was not required on this occasion. No effort was spared in ensuring that all members of the group, with an age range of 2 to 92, were catered for, with every comfort provided. Staff were welcoming and supportive at all times and nothing was a difficulty. A huge thank you to Alison and all staff members for providing for such a lovely day. Congratulations to all for superb food and excellent service. Joanne

You cannot give Maddies enough stars, truly an authentic and cosy experience. The rooms are comfortable and inviting and Alison the host is warmly accomodating - nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious. We throutoughly enjoyed our one night stay and would recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maddie's this weekend. Alison made us feel so welcome and anticipated our every need. Charming accommodation set in a lovely English style country garden tended by Alison herself and her mother-in-law. Fabulous, generous cooked breakfast with all the trimmings plus cereals, fruit and homemade banana bread - all delicious. Comfortable bed too! We’ll be back.
Maddies is a comfy, relaxed old home with beautiful high ceilings and floorboards. Alison is a great host and willing to assist at any time. Had a good vibe, nice to relax and have a cuppa. My little toy poodle Bonnie loved the place.
We had an overnight stay at Maddies whilst attending a wedding nearby. It was so refreshing to be able to check in early to get ready and to be greeted with offers of tea and coffee from Allison, the proud owner. Beautiful grounds and a lovingly restored home with very comfortable rooms, accompanied by generosity of service, make Maddies a wonderful choice for accommodation in Maitland.
