We have stayed here pre-Covid and looked a bit worn there, so figured with everything being shut down, there would be a few issues. As always front desk staff were awesome. We got there a bit early and they were able to get us set up with the mini golf course, which is a great time killer. We had some friends that checked in and they were able to get in right away, so we had the course to ourselves :) Once we got to the room, it was off from the start. it smelled musty and stale. We noticed the fridge was missing and the spot where it was had mold and mildew in it, causing allergies to kick in. There was a bath rab on the bathroom counter that might have been used to wipe it up, as it had mold and other items on it. As my son sat on the bed, he asked what was on the headboard of the bed, and appears to be bodily fluids.. yuck to say the least. We went to the front desk and the poor gals looked like this happens all the time. They got us a new room which appeared better. Door handles were loose, and we noticed coffee or a drink that was splattered on the fridge door, door between the room, and bathroom door. The chair in the living room had the end ripped off, no clocks and no phones in the room, which was odd. We did have 2 microwaves and 2 fridges, odd but nice. When I let the front desk know, they were again sorry and looked tired and beat up with the issues. they stated it could have been a dog that chewed the chair (which also would explain the allergies of myself and my boys go nuts.. ).. Tehy said the room should have phones and clocks,. They wanted to give me another business card to email pictures to , and I said thanks as I already had to email them other pictures from room #1 Pool area is on limited hours.. everyone has to have a band if you swim or not (as wife and I didn't swim, cost us $240 bucks for three days of water passes for my boys to swim .. being open 4 to 6-7 hours a day, that is steep). However, food in the pool area was great and the lounge had good beverages and food. Gift shop was nice and had great coffee. Hotel is worn. used to stay here when I it was the old best western, so familiar with the hotel. it could use a nice update as it looks tired. Was great for the kids.. but very disappointed with the lack of care by the room cleaners and mmaintenance staff.

Hotel's Favorite
We had an amazing stay here. We had a very nice suite with a balcony overlooking Lake Superior. So, plenty of room for the whole fam. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Mini-golf, the arcade, the trails/sights, and of course the waterpark, all made our stay memorable and fun. My personal favorite was the lazy river. We will definitely be returning!!!

Visited Duluth/North Shore for the extended weekend school break. We make this trip almost annually, though it has been 3 years since we've stayed at Edgewater. I'm assuming the change to reserve and pay for waterpark wristbands separately was introduced post-Covid (capacity cap), but I don't really see much of a negative or difference. We very much enjoyed the waterpark again for the 2 days we stayed - kids 11 and 13 had a great time. We did our hiking/activities during the day, and got back to the hotel by the 5pm waterpark opening. Also enjoyed the convenience of drinks and dinner at the Oasis Grill in the waterpark, where everyone could get what they wanted on their own schedule. We stayed in a 2-bedroom room, and it was perfect - we had more space and slept better than most of the hotels up the North Shore (most do NOT have separate bedroom for kids). I do regularly read reviews on places we stay, and am aware of lots of negative reviews, noting 'rooms in need of refurbishing' etc. We have not had a bad experience here. And frankly, this place is better than the AmericInns we stay at further up the North Shore that are closer to the hiking spots we like. We had an overall great stay.

We love Duluth and try to make it up there once a year. This year we stayed at Edgewater Hotel & Waterpark. We had stayed here many years ago before the waterpark was put in. Well it's seen its year that's for sure. It is in dire need of updating and repairs. The worst thing was the carpet. The carpet is very worn and smells from many years of wear, tare & animals. We had a wonderful time at the waterpark and seeing the sites around town. I feel it is way overpriced for the shape it is in. Hopefully they will do some updating soon.

I don't normally write reviews, but figured I should after seeing comments on here. We had a great, clean room with an amazing view of Lake Superior and the lift bridge. Staff was friendly and the amenities at the hotel with the hot tub, pool, fire pit, mini golf were enjoyed perks!! We could have also been entertained by the Waterpark and Arcade, we just didn't have time this trip. The hotel is not the most modern, but was not an issue. Really enjoyed this visit and this hotel!!
