I can't believe this place has gotten so many good reviews. It's in a good location..but the front desk people are incredibly rude and unhelpful...the suite (which is far overpriced) has filty furniture, stains on the carpet (which could have used a good cleaning) coffee pot dirty, no towel racks in bathroom (I guess they expect you to throw them on the floor)...TV remotes without batteries.....and then get on the elevator and you are afraid to even step in, the carpet is so very filthy. The housekeeper who got on with us said "Oh, yes, it probably should be replaced"...ya think? Then we were told our room was $218 a night (which floored us when we were quoted $180) - and discovered the booking had been discussed with the manager, she put us in a much more expensive room than we wanted. Our fault for not following up with the booking, tho. But then the desk said it was $218, but on check out on receipt it was $219...only a measly dollar, but....another goof. The final straw...free cookies. Well, there aren't any. So why say there are available anytime?? IDK...this was the first time I've stayed at Country Inn, and I guarantee it will be the last. There are a lot better places for that money....anyway, I would avoid the Duluth Country Inn....unless you like to sit on filthy couch or chaiir..or walk on filthy carpeting.…
A really nice, clean and spacious room. Comfortable beds and the entire hotel was updated. A bit on the noisy side even though our stay was middle of the week. I would recommend and we would stay here again.
Wow! What a disappointment. I’ve driven by this hotel on many trips to Duluth — it looks great from the road and has fairly great ratings on the various review sites — I thought I’d try them out this trip. What a mistake. Upon arrival I was issued keycards TO THE WRONG ROOM and I walked in on ANOTHER GUEST IN BED. How embarrassing. When I informed the desk of the issue, the employee sounded surprised and finally gave me a keycard to the proper room after himming and hawing around for several minutes. I anxiously tried the keycard on the next room that we were assigned and was relieved to find that this one was not occupied. Upon inspection of the room, carpets were dirty and had stains (my wife and I agreed that we would just leave our shoes on until we went to bed). The room darkening curtains were un-attached at the edges where they meet in middle. The only way we could keep them shut was to use a pants hanger from the closet and clip the two sides together. The bathroom door was in dire need of paint with rust on the trim and bubbling paint on the door itself. There was only about 1/4 of toilet paper on the roll and no spare roll (we had to go to desk and ask for another roll). There were candy pieces under the bathroom vanity too — all these things owing to no attention to detail. Other than these issues, the room was otherwise acceptable and quiet. Breakfast bar was good despite COVID restrictions. I think that this hotel has a lot to offer — but there were a lot of details missed or messed up. Considering that it is a mid-priced option in the area, I expected better. For the same price, I could have stayed at the La Quinta (which I wished I had) where I have had excellent experiences with lots of attention to details. This was a miss for Country Inn and Suites and I probably will not return.…
2nd visit to this property in the past few months. We had a great room on the 3rd floor, sleeping quality was excellent. As a Gold member of the Radisson Rewards club, I was given a free upgrade to a very nice 2 Queen suite. It had a nice view of the business next door and everything was in good working order. The rooms have been redecorated in the past year or more but the furniture in the living area could use some updating as it doesn't match the rest of the updated decor. Very nice bathroom with beautiful sink, shower tub and nice pictures. Only thing missing was the towel racks! No place to hang wet and used towels. I mentioned to the manager Tony and he said he was already working with the chain owners to get this changed. The breakfast served both days was very good. I really enjoyed chatting with all of the staff especially the general manager Tony, the front desk associates Joe and Sandy and the housekeeping staff and breakfast attendants. Deb in housekeeping wrote us a very nice note after we mentioned a slight water leak in the bathroom sink. All and all it was a great experience and will definitely be back!…
Great time the kids loved the water Slide. Wish there had been Milk and Cereal as a breakfast options they should be able to have individual packs. Or Instant Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat and Hot Choc. would be good.
