Hyatt House Mall of America / MSP Airport is often lauded for its prime location near the MOA, attracting guests with its convenience. While the hotel's cleanliness and quiet atmosphere are frequently praised, some visitors have expressed concerns over inconsistent tidiness and occasional noise disturbances. Accommodations have received mixed reviews, with guests appreciating the aesthetic appeal but noting disparities in room size and functionality.
The service quality is variable, with commendations for staff attentiveness contrasted by critiques of sluggish shuttle service and staffing challenges. Additionally, while amenities generally meet expectations, hidden fees and value for money remain points of contention for many travelers.

The property is great. The building is still new and the room is clean. The hard product is top notch.
However, the soft product is questionable. I went to the front desk to ask for toothpaste, typical standard things at any hotels or even motels. Well they ran out of toothpaste because theres a "shortage" and they haven't seen them for some time. Rather than the management ordering the sample size from Amazon in bulk, their solution is to sell them for $5 bucks as a "courtesy" to their guests. $5 get you a sample size toothpaste.
The issue isnt about not having the toothpaste, the issue is when the hotel management KNEW they are on back order so rather than finding a solution, they decided to sell it at 5x the rate and stated its for "YOUR convenience". These are basic amenities for hotels, especially under the Hyatt umbrella.
When I addressed the issue with the front desk, the typical "shrug, we are the messenger, we don't make decisions".

SMFEddie, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear you found the property to be great, with a clean room and top-notch facilities. However, we truly regret that your experience with the customer service aspect of your stay did not meet your expectations, particularly with regard to the toothpaste situation. We completely understand your frustration, and we apologize for the way this issue was handled. Offering basic amenities like toothpaste should be a standard part of our service, and we clearly fell short in providing a satisfactory solution. We take your feedback seriously, and we will be addressing this matter with both our management team and front desk staff to ensure we handle such situations more effectively in the future. We also appreciate you pointing out the need for proactive solutions, such as ordering essentials in advance when there are shortages. Rest assured, we will be looking into ways to prevent this from happening again. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We value your input and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience next time.

sneakily hid a parking charge that was disclosed at check in. i expect a prepaid, noncancellable reservation to be a fully loaded cost. unvaacumed hallways and dirty dishes left in machine. hotel was fine, not great.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
The studio suite was compact but suited our need for a quick, inexpensive weekend getaway. The front staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel was quite chilly especially in the lobby/bar and pool area. There was no hot tub. Paying for parking seemed unnecessary for the place and space. I might recommend this for short stays due to business travel near the airport or for families who are mainly there for the Mall of America and need someplace economically priced. They have a shuttle bus to the airport. It would be nice if they had a shuttle system to MOA as well (if they did have it, it wasn't advertised).

Jennifer C, Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad to hear that our studio suite met your needs for a quick getaway and that you found our front desk staff friendly and helpful. It’s great to know that your room was comfortable and clean. We apologize for the temperature issues you experienced in the lobby, bar, and pool areas. Comfort is important to us, and we’ll look into this to ensure a more pleasant experience for our guests in the future. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the lack of a hot tub and the parking fee. We understand how those amenities and costs can impact your overall experience, and we’ll take your comments into account moving forward. To clarify, we do offer a shuttle to the Mall of America, and we’ve recently introduced **TrackMyShuttle.com** to make requesting the shuttle easier and more efficient for our guests. We hope this will make your future stays more convenient! Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another enjoyable stay!

Mediocre motel disguised as being upscale. Room wasn’t properly cleaned before we arrived, many of the simple functionalities of the room were either broken, not working, or constantly reset without our consent. By a fire station and an airport, making it constant noise at all hours of the day. No hot tub by the pool. $15 a day for parking. Breakfast was average at best, everything was dry or stale or lukewarm.

kroseh89, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet expectations and that you encountered several issues during your stay. Your comments are important to us, and we deeply regret the inconveniences you faced. We are sorry to hear that your room was not properly cleaned upon arrival and that the room's amenities were not functioning as they should. This is certainly not the standard we strive for, and we will be investigating these concerns with our housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure that all rooms are properly prepared and fully operational for our guests. Regarding the noise, we understand that being near a fire station and airport can be disruptive, and we apologize for any disturbance this caused. We’ll review ways to better inform guests of our location and provide quieter room options when possible. We also regret that the breakfast did not meet your expectations, and we’ll be reviewing the quality of the offerings to improve the overall experience. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. We take all comments seriously and will work on addressing these issues to improve our service moving forward. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance to provide a better experience in the future.

Hyatt dropped the ball on the opening of this new property in Minneapolis. The rooms I stayed in (2 stays in 3 weeks with work team members) were not finished; rug installation not completed in one room, window shades not operable in another, could not open dresser drawers - no handles, had to remove toilet lid to flush - handle not secured (maintenance did fix this during my stay), drywall patches not sanded or painted. Manager not responsive to my request for a phone call, the room safe was locked - staff did not respond to my request to have it opened during my stay.
Unfortunate opening of property. It's in a good location, brand new, included breakfast was good, competitive pricing. A thorough inspection of the rooms prior to opening doesn't appear to have happened. A complaint directly to World of Hyatt did results in them issuing additional points for my stay.

I have to highly recommend this especially while traveling with family, or you are a person who like to cook your own food! I also recommend this for crew members, this hotel is simply fantastic!
excellent breakfast, 7 minutes from the airport and very quiet. The rooms have blackout shades which truly helped us with a very cranky 6 year old who had not slept in 2 days,

Hotel ran out of suites at check-in when we arrived at 3:15pm despite booking the 694 sq foot room and ended up with a room likely around 450 sq ft room. Front desk room blamed Expedia, apologized, and asked use to call Expedia for a refund. One of our kids pressed one of the button locks bedroom door and closed the door. Turned out the lock was faulty and could not be unlocked from the outside, so they had to call and "engineer" who pried the door open. When we got home we called Expedia for a price adjustment for the room we received, but they had to call the hotel to verify we did not get the suite we paid for. Apparently whomever they spoke to reports we got the full size suite. Expedia recommended we dispute the credit card charge, but that seems extreme. At least I requested free parking on check-in which was granted for us. Glad it was just for a one night stay. Pool was nice at least.

We had travelled around the world and stayed in many hotels but never had such a bad experience as in this hotel. This hotel has very poor customer service, and the front desk woman was very unprofessional and unhelpful . We had a reservation made seven months ago and when we arrived she told us that we didn’t have a reservation and to call Hyatt customer service, which we did. The customer service agreed that we indeed had a reservation and asked to talk to the front desk to help us solve the problem. However the front desk person refused to talk to her. We also called the assistant general manager named and she was supposed to call us back but we never heard from her. After an hour and a half of wasting our time with the front desk, we left and booked a nearby Marriott property which has always provided us with great service.

For this property to be a Hyatt property is mind boggling. My family and I stayed one night at this Hyatt Place and have zero intention of returning. For a new hotel, it is run down. Multiple items in the room here broken or missing. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom was hanging off the wall to the point the toilet paper would fall off the holder onto the floor.
Breakfast was under staffed causing multiple items to be exhausted. The attendant was extremely stressed and unable to keep up with the demands of a Sunday morning breakfast offering. Even the coffee was empty.
One plus side was the beds were comfortable. Was difficult to sleep with a very noisy mini fridge and BRIGHT bathroom lights that turn on automatically when you walk near the bathroom. The door to the bathroom did not slide shut all the way either. Night time bathroom users beware…..you will blind you sleeping family when you use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

We had a great, comfortable stay! Kids loved the pool. Breakfast was a good, rotating selection. Room was pristine. We did order food from the restaurant one evening and it was delicious and reasonably priced. It’s extremely close and convenient to get to the Mall of America. Excellent wifi. I had breakfast on the patio one morning, which was lovely. The hotel is next door to a fire station, though I only heard trucks once while we were on our way out after a 3 night stay. We will absolutely consider staying here again on our next trip.
