There were 5 of us for a family Sunday lunch. The service from 2 young members of staff was excellent, the 3 Course meal was great, all the dishes were well-received, the food was tasty and the main Beef Roast was superb. 3 Courses with drinks and under £40 a head - topnotch value for money too!
Will def recommend to all friends + family and the many visitors to the area who I work with on a daily basis.

Last minute decision to try the Commercial in Tarland for lunch proved to be a real winner. About half the tables were already reserved and the rest were filled while we were there. We've eaten here many times previously, including for breakfast around Highland Games times in summers past, but eating out is still a real treat this year of Covid and we were so impressed by the efficiency and safety of the set up in the eating area of the bar. You have to take something from the larger menu if you want alcohol (new regulations) but we both found something from the snack menu as we were driving later, so the alcohol wasn't an issue. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and hats-off to Kristina, a one-woman power house who had to keep us all safe and served and happy. Compliments, also, to the chef (those chips were something else!) and to the lady who came through to help with drinks so Kristina could keep up the 5-star service on a very busy lunchtime. Lovely lunch.

Thankyou so much for your positive feedback, there is not always much to brighten our days at the moment, so knowing that our customers are appreciative of our new ways of operating is a real boost. I will pass on your comments to kristina, who along with the rest of my team are doing an amazing job keeping everyone safe and happy until we can return to more normal trading conditions. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

We had two rooms for one night while visiting relatives in the area. The covid-19 precautions seemed sensible and proportionate to us and staff and guests took these very seriously and very responsibly as far as we could see despite the additional practical difficulties these bring.
The rooms were very comfortable and extremely clean. We very much enjoyed our dinner in the bar in the evening and the food and drink was well prepared, of good quality and reasonably priced.
Breakfast took a bit longer than normal as everything had to be table service with one member of staff dealing with four groups all in restaurant at the same time. We were not in a hurry and enjoyed the leisurely breakfast. All the staff including the owner were very friendly, helpful and communicative in difficult circumstances.
Overall we very much enjoyed our short stay, would not hesitate to stay there again as we have in the past and we felt safe and well looked after throughout.,

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and it is the nicest, most welcoming place I have had the pleasure of staying.
On arrival were met by the owner Bev who explained how things were being done to comply with Covid regulations and they managed it perfectly as well as giving us a great holiday experience.
This hotel is excellent our room was beautiful with everything we needed and spotlessly clean.
We ate in the hotel every night as the food was amazing with plenty to choose from and large portions.
There is a lovely beer garden and bar, all serviced with great staff, a special mention to Mo who could not do enough for everyone with her jovial personality and is a lovely lady.
Hearty, tasty breakfasts are served as well with plenty to choose from, you won’t go hungry.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Many thanks Karen, It is early days post-covid and we have been working hard to ensure that all our guests can get the most from their 'staycations' whilst keeping them safe without restictions feeling intrusive. We are delighted that your comments show we are managing to achieve this. We trust you left feeling suitably refreshed and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

We had the pleasure of being the first residents in the newly completed 2 The Steadings. Truly a home from home first class accommodation it comprises of an open plan lounge and kitchen. Upstairs are two bedrooms one with en-suite and another shower room on the ground floor. It is completely fitted out for a self catering holiday with extra little touches tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.
We dined in the restaurant with six other friends and everyone gave the meals a five star rating.

I spent two nights here at the end of storm Arwen. I was travelling alone and could not have been made more welcome. I arrived late for the first night but was fed and watered very well before retiring to my very comfortable bed. The next day I was out early after an excellent cooked breakfast. I spent a good few hours out in the snow and sleet on a motorcycle and was soaked on returning to the Commercial. I spent the afternoon in front of the wood burner drying my kit and drinking really good coffee whilst surfing using the free wifi - which was plenty fast enough. My room was very nice, spotlessly clean and well appointed. After a few flickers of the lights on the Friday afternoon I opted to eat early on the Friday night - and just as my food arrived the power went out and never came back for the remainder of my stay. Five days later there is still no power in the area. I had a really lovely evening by candlelight near the wood burner before getting an early night. There was absolutely nothing the hotel could have done about the loss of power - the whole area went out. However, the owners and staff were absolutely superb, made every effort to go the extra mile and were authentically helpful, attentive and friendly. I cannot fault the food at all. Every meal was delicious and cooked to perfection. Genuinely lovely people and accommodation at the Commercial. I'll certainly be back.

Thankyou Chris for being so understanding - it certainly was a testing time and I'm relieved you made it home safely to Northamptonshire on your bike in such awful weather. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Last minute booking with friends, 3 night stay. Because of Covid, separate cars. Hotel was great, staff superb, great banter. All Covid safe, staff masked, tables etc wiped down after use and hand sanitizer available. Shame about not being able to play darts or pool and a lounge not available However small penalty to pay to ensure we were safe. Table service, good choice of drinks. Food very good and plentiful, breakfast not to be missed. Close to main Deeside attractions - those that were open. No comment on the weather. 🤣🤣 Well recommended.

Only recently, I was in discussion with friends about the unfortunate decline in customer services within the hospitality trade. Thankfully, the Commercial Hotel, bucks this trend and demonstrates just how it should be done.
Despite suffering the same issues as regards staff shortages and unforseen delivery /stock issues, it was heartwarming to receive a warm welcome and benefit from staff that were friendly, engaging, courteous and professional. Thank you to all staff at the 'Commercial'.
My evening meal was truly fabulous. Piping hot, incredibly tasty and a full plate that would satisfy anyone's needs. Tables were well spaced to provide privacy but still provided a warm and relaxing atmosphere. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.
The hotel is ideally placed for those on a leisure break and there is a convenience store on the other side of the road. In addition there are ample private car parking facilities.
I would highly recommend the Commercial .

We stayed here for 4 nights and despite Covid restrictions we had a very pleasant stay. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and the hospitality warm. Bev and her team looked after us well and the extensive menu meant we found quality and variety throughout the week.

The hotel is clean and very comfortable. The double rooms are spacious and well equipped. We were offered a room tidy service halfway through the week, but the overall level software hygiene were very good. The shower pressure was excellent, although the baths are a bit small for people taller than 6'! The cuisine was very good and the service excellent - friendly and attentive and personal. Bev the owner made us feel welcome throughout our stay. Strongly recommend for a stay if visiting the area.
