I have stayed at the Driftwood many many times....that I repeatedly stay there says it all...park right in front of your room because its an old school, single story motel...the room is small by modern standards, older vibe, but its clean, remodeled, and very well cared for despite being older. A large benefit is the bar/restaurant on premises...Have a meal and drinks without driving...pool table I believe..good service at bar and motel...hours at bar/restaurant can be shorter than expected...so ask...that is the only thing a bit problematic...price was good but gets $30 for a pet and their is a dog run...

After driving all day and visiting the island. We were ready to clean up and relax watching some tv. Unfortunately the tv would not work. A call to the front desk revealed a second remote was needed. Careful inspection revealed no 2nd remote. Another call to the front desk to tell her we had not found it. She found a spare one in the office and we could come get it. The 2nd remote did nothing. The clerk sr the front desk said she could not help. No maintenance man until Monday and manager would not be there til then also. She would not take one from one of the empty rooms and could not move us to another room because they were more expensive and she would have to charge us. Call the manager on Monday and she said the clerk offered to come help but we refused. A very classless operation! Be wary when doing business with them. They are lazy and lie!!…

Tiny motel room. Very clean. Priced great. Last minute decision to stay on that side of bridge. Originally going to stay at a bigger hotel. Glad we saved money. Super dark room. And actually very quiet. It’s old. But, ok….nice. Did wonder if door was secure though.

Hotel is very clean, staff are very nice. Bed is like sleeping on concrete, hardest bed ever, only 2 pillows, used my dogs bed for an additional pillow. 2 wood chairs at the table, very uncomfortble. I get the up north log experience, but this was awful! Price of room has doubled in the last year. $200 per night! People next to us had been going there for 6 years, they won't be back either. They had always paid around $100 per night, not anymore! No microwave in room as advertised. Fire pit out front is gone. Restaurant is really good! Excellent food.

I stayed here on my way through town after visiting friends. I knew I’d be arriving late, so I called ahead, as indicated on the website when I made my reservation. They have a great arrangement for late arrivals and we’re very nice and helpful when I called. The hotel itself is basic, but clean. I unfortunately didn’t notice the Wi-Fi password until I was getting ready to leave and decided to put something in the envelope for the housekeeper. So if you stay here, don’t forget to look there!

Very nice place! Location is superb: Right across the street from the ferry boat dock. Not far from other St Ignace, businesses, either. All rooms are ground level, we parked right in front of our door, made loading the car much easier. Rooms are clean with comfortable beds. It is a good experience to stay, for once, in a local, nonchain place that you like. Will stay there again, future visits!

For many years my job required me to travel through out the United States. One year I spent 208 nights in motels/hotels, large chains to small mom and pop locations. I’ve stayed at the Driftwood 8 or 10 times always a pleasant experience. Friendly service, clean rooms, affordable prices and a great view of the lake. I believe this is the best value for the money compared to any place I’ve stayed.

I visited with my husband and another couple over the summer. We absolutely loved the Driftwood. Convenient to shops and the ferry, which was directly across the street. The restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced. The rooms were quite clean and the staff friendly. Also dog-friendly, which was a plus for us as our friends brought their two pups. Would definitely stay again!

Checked in at about 5:00 pm. Chose because of bar and restaurant on site. After checking in found that both had closed at 4. I asked if there was anywhere close by to get a drink and a meal, answer, "No, this is the close by." Apparently, although they weren't providing the services advertised , they damn sure weren't going to recommend any competitors in the area.. Another group of travelers were also unimpressed by these shenanigans but knew the area and walked to a fairly close restaurant. Hundreds of people came to the place all night long to find it was closed. When turning on the air conditioner, it made loud screeching noises but did not cool. Neighbor walked by said there was NO toilet paper in her room. Pretty poor service for the money! Go elsewhere.

We apologize that you were unaware that our Sports Bar & Restaurant close at 4pm on Sundays. It has been that way for a year and a half and gives our employees a well deserved break. Our front desk staff is encouraged to give suggestions for alternate food & drink locations and it is surprising they would have given you the answer you stated. Our hours are posted & we realize that people may stop when we are closed, just as they do if we close at 10pm, etc. If you or your neighbors had an issue with your room, we are always happy to make it right. I assure you that we are not trying to pull "shenanigans" as you state and are trying hard to provide a clean, updated motel room at a reasonable price with the staff we have had available to us. We will talk to our staff about restaurant recommendations as that is not typical or what we expect.

I made a reservation on line the day before we arrived, total came to $134.40. I was told there was a reservation fee. Okay so i thought it would be deducted from the total amount. For one night i was charges $120 reservation fee !! I was never told about it. Well on my way home they put the charges through and it made my account negative, very upsetting. They got their money but now I have to wait at least five days before that 120 gets taken off. I wont stay here again.

Good Afternoon, I apologize that there was confusion upon making your reservation with us. It is not a reservation fee but a reservation "authorization" which is standard procedure when making motel reservations. It does put a hold on funds and is removed dependent upon your bank's policy and the purpose for this is to ensure it is a valid credit card. If this authorization did not drop off, please let us know. We certainly would never charge a reservation fee and if a mistake was made, we would like to make it right.
