Lovely room with fantastic view in quiet location. The staff were all really friendly and went out of their way to be helpful especially Nakazawa-san who also speaks very good English. If you don't have a car the hotel has a great shuttle service to help you get around. Breakfast was Japanese style and delicious. What more could you ask for!
My wife and I spent 3 nights here during our honeymoon. We loved the laid back atmosphere, excellent food, service and location - it was just what we were looking for! Iriomote is a wonderful island full of jungles, waterfalls and coral reefs. Yes, the location of Eco village is remote, but there are free pick ups and drop offs to the ferry port and all activities can be arranged locally so you don't need a car. We chose to do 2 half day trips with blue season tour company - one to kayak through mangrove swamps and hike up to a waterfall and the second on a snorkelling trip. Both were good value and a real highlight of our whole trip to Japan. Thanks for all the special touches Eco Village!
The property is decent, our room was nice, the pool is lovely, the restaurant has great food. For us though, it was far from many attractions that iriomote has to offer. It's about half way between the two main port towns so to find a meal outside of the hotel in the evening required a fair bit of driving (and it's scary driving as an Iriomote Yamaneko wild cat may jump out into the road at any time!).
Highly recommendable! We were there in off season (January) and the only guests. The place is run by a father and a daughter who speak little English but know how to use a dictionary. The hospitality, location and dedication where more than 5 star! The swimming pool and beach were too cold for us, but probably great for the rest of the season. Be aware that public transport is limited to a few buses per day and that there is no shop or restaurant beside the hotel. We loved the breakfast and dinner in the hotel and will never forget the Okinawa music.
We stayed here for two nights in June. Fabulous place. Somehow we lucked out and got a suite, a private appartment just for us overlooking the ocean. Huge rooms, a singing toilet, a spa with views to the water, massive bed, day bed, and a quick skip to the pool. It was just heavenly. Little English and little Japanese meant little when you want to communicate. We enjoyed gourmet dinners and delightful breakfasts. We travelled everywhere by public transport... Somewhat restricting in terms of regularity, but always punctual and cool. Fabulous staff, fabulous food, fabulous views, a little bit of heaven at the end of Japan,,,,, you're actually very close to Taiwan
