Room was good sized, clean and liked how you accessed from inside hallway. Highlight was the breakfast. More than what I was expecting. They had your standard continental offerings plus hot waffles. Only thing that was off was we thought the beds a bit too firm but otherwise great value for a one night stay within close proximity to Mackinac Island. There were also a number of dining options within a five minute drive.

The check in was pleasant and the decor is inviting in the lobby. The room had a microwave and refrigerator, which was a nice addition. The patio doors open into the parking lot, which makes loading and unloading much easier! The beach boardwalk is across the street, which is nice.

Checking in, the clerk wore a mask. She was the only employee I encountered, so I don't know about anyone else.

The downside is the firmness of the bed. It was very firm and I woke with a backache. If you like a firm bed, it will be a welcome stop for you.

They offered waffles and fresh fruit (banana or oranges) for breakfast, but there was a small line at the waffle maker and I didn't wait because we had food in the room anyway.

For the price, it is worth the stay if you enjoy a firm bed. We stopped overnight as part of a longer trip.

In planning our trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, we were looking for a clean and no frills place to stay, in a convenient location, close to the areas we were exploring. This little roadside motel was perfect for our purposes. It is an older motel with simple decor that one would expect in a motel of this type. I read reviews that said the beds were too firm and uncomfortable, but I didn’t find this to be the case. The location is quiet and is right across the road from the town’s boardwalk along Lake Michigan. The service is above average, and the front desk employee went out of her way to be helpful. I left an important item in the room, and hours later called to ask if it had been found. She went to the room while we were still on the phone, found the item, and kept it safe until we arrived to pick it up. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel! Rooms were very large and lots of extras (loveseat, desk, etc). Very quiet for being right on US2. Good breakfast, friendly staff, clean room. Only downside was the shower which started out with super hot water then went to cool water after a few minutes.
But a great stay and I would recommend it for the price which was reasonable.

I dont usually use this chain, but it had the best reviews in the area. This hotel was gaudy and cheap. The woman serving breakfast was floating between breakfast and cleaning rooms. Ew. There was a scary deck door in the room. It opened to the back of the building. It had an old step. Nothing there but weeds. I am guessing this is the smoking area for the non-smoking rooms. There were no lights no cameras. Just a dark creepy area. The front of the motel reeked of pot. I believe this is the hotel that is used for homeless persons. I would have felt safer at the Bates Motel.

What a great experience here at this Econolodge. Aside from being affordable, the check in experience is unexcelled. and I speak from experience as my wife and I have made multiple cross country trips over the past 12 years. We crossed the UP (Upper Peninsula, Michigan) today and had booked this Econolodge while en route. The gentlemen checking us in, a brother in law of the owner, could not have been friendlier or more enthusiastic about explaining not only the features of the hotel, but the sites to see in the area. This Econolodge is located directly on US2, and across the street from the boardwalk on Lake Michigan which tonight offered a spectacular sunset view. But, I digress. The room is immaculate, and to our surprise, included a jacuzzi. The place is, in a word, spotless. One of the nicest places at any price we have stayed in over the past dozen years. If you're traveling to or through Manistique, you won't go wrong in staying here.

We have stayed here before and have really liked this place. This time was no different.
We had the same room again which is a 2-room suite with a kitchenette, wet bar, living room area and a king bedroom. It has a microwave and refrigerator but oddly no coffee pot in the room. We like that it conveniently located by the door and parking.
The staff is always friendly and check in is always fast and efficient. There was a weird smell in the lobby though.
The location of this hotel is convenient. Right on US2, next door to Big Boy, across the street from the Boardwalk and just a couple of blocks from downtown.
Breakfast was just waffles, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. However, that is more than a lot of places are doing lately. An additional waffle maker would be helpful.
Great place to stay. Clean, comfortable and convenient.
Side note: At least in September…. Monday nights… there were no places to eat in town. Everything was closed. Very strange.

We stay in Manistique at least once a year when we travel between WI and MI. This was actually the first time we have stayed at this property and were pleasantly surprised when we entered the room. It was very clean and appeared to have been recently remodeled. The room was a good size and two separate sinks was ideal for us both to get ready for the day at the same time. It’s nothing fancy but All was good, it was quiet since we had the last room far from the highway. We had a week of traveling ahead of us and this was our first stop along the way.
It’s close to a little casino where we played a few hours, had a great burger and headed back to our room expecting to get a good nights sleep. The beds were horrible, as they were hard as a rock. For an economy hotel we don’t expect pillow top mattress but the least they could do was put a pad on the top for some comfort.
We had reservations at this hotel for another night the following week on our return trip home. Couldn’t cancel it fast enough. It’s a shame as the property is a great location and very clean.

To clarify we had stayed in the one in Marinette WI which was light years better.

Where to start. I'll state the good parts. The fridge is over-sized, and the freezer refroze ice from the cooler. We could park near the door, making it easy in and easy out.

Ok, now the bad parts. First, at check in the gal at the front desk was not wearing a mask. I kindly said: "would you mind terribly putting a mask on?" She looked at me for a few seconds, the asked as if I had insulted her child and said: "I have a hard time breathing wearing it." I dropped it. We had two rooms and the key cards to one didn't work. I sent my daughter and she too, had a bad experience. (I hadn't told her about my encounter).

Now the room. It is dated but the bathroom door is that cheap hollow core ith the fake wood grain. The shower bar was straight unlike Marinette. The bed was harder than anything I had previously experienced. My back hurt so badly the following morning. And it is outside of town so cars and truck barrel past making quite a racket. yes the walls are thin so ear plugs are my recommendation.

Outside needed repairs too. There was a pillar with a fake brick base that had been hit (presumably by a vehicle) and moved over a foot. No attempt was made to move it back!.

In the morning we didn't look to see if they had a to go bag for breakfast. We just got in the car and took off for a coffee shop.

I know it is a cheap hotel chain, but the sign says Top 10 hotel by Choice Hotels. REALLY??

We had the handicap room. It was a king suite and it did not disappoint. There was a lounge chair to kick back in and watch TV and in the bathroom. It was a standup shower with grab bars as well as grab bars for the toilet. The whole room was very inviting and roomie. Nice offerings at the breakfast in the morning as well. We have stayed in this Econolodge over the years several times and it never disappoints.

The woman who helped us check in stated they are on site, so late check ins would be ok. We checked in at about 9pm without a problem.
