We had an amazing time here. The food was over the moon, the staff was attentive, and our corner room was so cozy and comfortable. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights to celebrate our honeymoon. On the very last morning that we were there, we were lying in bed and it was just before 7am and being that we stayed in October it was still dark at that time of day. The lights in our room came on, went off, came back on, went off again, and then came back on and stayed on all by themselves. We looked at each other as we were lying in bed and pulled the blankets up and over our heads until the sun came up. It was amazing!!! We will not soon forget our incredible experience. It was the best and we will be back. We have come to find out that the Island has many Ghost Stories and The Inn at Stonecliffe has a few of it's own.

Hello, I would like to make it known I did email a week ago and have yet to recieve a response. That is why I am now posting here. We recently stayed at The Inn at Stonecliffe on September 24th to September 25th. I would like to share my review in hopes others are not treated the way we were. When booking our stay at Stonecliffe we were beyond excited for our time here. It was our first-year anniversary, and we were excited to stay in a beautiful historic piece of mackinaw. Our negative experience came even before our arrival. My husband was in the wedding on September 25th at 11 AM, The suit was not coming to town in time so men's wear house was going to send the suite to Stone Cliffe. I called on Thursday the 23rd wanting to give you guys a heads up. I spoke with Bree and she unkindly told me you do not accept packages and seemed very not knowing of what she had just communicated to me. From the moment we arrived Friday morning it continued to go downhill. I approached to check in and the lady checking in was very disrespectful and did not seem to have the time for us. We checked in, asked about the package again… which once again she was clueless, and no notes were in our file. During the day on Friday, I spoke with multiple different people, and we were told there was nothing they could do.. mind you the wedding was less than 12 hours away. Finally, at approximately 9 PM Friday evening I spoke with a lady named Kat.. SHE WAS AMAZING! Kat took it upon herself to call all around and see if the package was anywhere. She was a sweetheart and tried to go above and beyond with making our situation better. This now brings us to Saturday at 7:30 AM, approaching the front desk asking if anything has shown up or if anyone has heard anything. Nothing. Rude and once again no time for us was. My husband and I found a taxi which showed up around 8:45, we got down to the coal dock as we were told that is where our package was signed for. Mind you, the wedding is now 1 ½ out and we have yet to find the suit. We get to town about 9:45 and I receive a phone call from the hotel letting us know our package has been there since Friday Morning, they were unaware of what it was because it was in a box! I asked multiple times and even brought up that it was going to be in a box. We get back to the hotel now leaving us no time to get ready. Walk in to get our suit and she slams it on the counter, mind you the manager is standing in the corner and has nothing to say. Moral of the story, customer service and respect was lacking. Very sad considering we were staying at the historic inn at stonecliffe. We will not be back and have told others to not do the same. When you think of paying that kind of money, you think of exceptional over the top service. Customer Service Is key, and it was very sad to not see that present. Saturday for the wedding the minister was over a half hour late, leaving us with the photographer not being able to capture our photos in town because her time was up. This is my fault and I understand that but also please let your staff know honesty is also huge. In the chaos of trying to get around and pack up our room due to wedding and checkout being at 11 a pair of xtra tuff rainboots were left. Called not even an hour after we left and there nowhere to be found.. Interesting how that works. I am not one to complain but I feel like communicating my experience may be eye opening and will make your customer service better for others.

We stayed at the Inn at Stonecliffe twice during the summer of 2021: over the July 4 and Labor Day holiday weekends. The Inn is a pleasant distance (walkable/bikeable) away from the busiest part of the island (Main Street) with a gorgeous view of the Mackinac Bridge from the lawn. Our room during each visit was lovely and very comfortable and quiet. It was great to be able to enjoy the major attractions on the island during the day and then relax at night in lovely accommodations.

Our family of 5 stayed here and it was one of a few places on the island that easily accommodated 5 people in one room. The room was spacious and comfortable for all of us with beautiful views from the balcony. We were not in the mansion, but I believe they called it the summer house-a few short steps away from the main house. Not a problem for us as we preferred the generous size of the room for 5. The entire property is charming and beautiful with sweeping views of the bridge from the lawn. All that being said, I did my research before booking so I was not disappointed in the location-I knew what to expect. The property is 2 miles UPHILL from the main drag. We brought our own bikes with us on the ferry knowing that the trek to the Inn would be challenging but would also give us the freedom to escape the crowds. There is horse taxi service available but it is not efficient or incredibly reliable and requires planning and patience. After getting off the ferry, we left our bags with the porter and explored the main drag. It took a few hours for our bags to catch up to us at the Inn, so there is no rush to check in as your belongings will not be there and you will waste your time waiting. Once we attempted to have a taxi bring us to town but could not get the timing to work out so we were very happy to have our bikes. If you are on a timeline to leave, make sure that you arrange for your bags to be taken to the ferry well in advance. The taxis will not take bikes so your bags have to travel separate from you. If you have mobility issues and cannot bike 2 miles, mostly uphill, do not like to plan a couple of hours for the taxi, or have the patience to potentially wait then I'd recommend staying close to the main drag. If you like a little workout, have patience, and escaping the crowds then this place is perfect. When we were there, the restaurant services were limited or non-existent but I will not fault the Inn as there was a power outage on the island and they were doing the best they could with what they had. The staff and service was fantastic and I would stay here again. Doing my homework gave me what I expected and saved me from any disappointment.

This hotel is magnificent… beautiful, traditional and in an incredible setting with gorgeous, huge trees and expansive lawns. The carriage ride up the stone path to the hotel was something of a fairy tale. The General Manager, Suze Oostendorp, is apparently the perfect person for the job! Impressive, absolutely spot-on in every regard. Friendly, welcoming, and of course we enjoyed the champagne and lovely note that greeted us in our charming room. Thank you again, Suze, and to the entire courteous, competent staff of this awesome hotel.

Mae spent a few days at the Inn over the past weekend and I could not have had a better experience. From check in to check out we experienced one of the most hospitable weekends we have ever had! The grounds of this property are absolutely stunning. The lawn has incredible views of the bridge and lake and you feel as if you are on your own private island in the secluded location on the island. Our room was located in the Summer House and had a very cute French balcony we were able to enjoy morning coffee and afternoon cocktails on. A special shout out to Grant for ensuring our bags made it to and from the dock safely and checking in with us to see how our weekend was going and also the GM, Suze, who ensured our stay was extremely special! I can not wait to head back to this gem of a property in the future!

I am so happy my wife and I chose the Inn at Stonecliffe. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the attentive service. We had a third floor mansion room that was of good size, had a nice large window and was quite comfortable. The decorations are simple and it was a little plain but it was quiet and the shower was huge. It is a a ways from downtown so you need to pre-plan your trips and give yourself a little extra time. That is a small price to pay to get away from the crowds. Make sure you take an evening stroll to sunset rock to end your day. Dinner on the lawn was a treat. Sean at the bar took good care of us and the Charcuterie was excellent.

After not traveling to Mackinac Island during 2020, I was sooo happy to be back at my favorite spot in the world! Being fortunate enough to visit twice was an absolute bonus. The location of The Inn at Stonecliffe is the exact opposite of the craziness on Main Street. It is perfect for relaxing after a day of adventures and/or shopping with a gorgeous pool and beautiful lawn on which to enjoy the Michigan sunsets. It is so restful to grab a book and select a quiet chair on the portico or lawn to spend the afternoon. The Lawn at Stonecliffe, the on-site outdoor restaurant, is perfect for casual dining without the hassle of a taxi to go downtown. My first visit in July was a few days in the Mackinac room in the Mansion. Each room is different and beautifully decorated and I love to pretend that this was my family home at some point. The second visit was almost a week in a Studio Suite in the Summer House, perfect for a longer stay with the mini kitchen. The entire staff is personable, helpful and totally accommodating to a guest's needs. From being met by the dock porter (Seth), to the house porter (Grant), front desk (Bre), bartender (Sean), Marie and the kitchen staff, Becky, housekeeping, etc. I know that I'm in for a great visit. Front Desk Manager (Greg), and GM (Suze) are always there to greet guests and keep everything running smoothly. I'm always left looking forward to my next vacation at The Inn at Stonecliffe!

While some of the staff was very nice, we were not forewarned it was two miles to Main Street area. While they mention taxi service in a separate attachment, they do not state how far and how long it takes to travel back and forth, While we were aware of the horse taxis, it was very challenging going back and forth and the taxi had some challenges with timing etc with weddings going on. The restaurant is not operating as normal which they did not make us aware of until we arrived. Water view from the mansion porch but none from the suites. Definitely ask questions vs the photos on the website. The manager accommodated us one evening by giving us access to a few more menu options. She was professional. Like everywhere else, it’s short staffed, so not being picked up around the grounds. A bit disappointing as this was planned for the celebrations above.

The only experience we enjoyed at this god awful place was our concierge gentleman Grant. He was kind, very helpful and greeted us and offered help with anything and everything we needed. He was definitely overworked. It seemed he was doing everyone’s job. Upon checking in we found out we were on 3rd floor, window could not be opened because it had no screen and we were told bats will fly in room. We had no view, no air conditioning one fan available. It was incredibly hot. The staircase up and down is your only option. Any there were MANY STAIRS!! They had no food selections whatsoever. Bethany at front desk was the rudest, laziest human we have ever encountered. Everything we needed we had to figure out and do on our own. She couldn’t be bothered or taken away from here phone. No help with taxis. The stonecliffe shuttle was never available. The pool was green and reeked of chemicals. You had to walk to the inn next door to get ice or anything from vending machines. Prepare to pay a fortune in taxis for a family of 4. There is absolutely NOTHING TO DO AT THIS MANSION. Stay clear!!’
