I did a last minute getaway with my sister. We had stayed at the Mariner Hotel many times several years ago. So I decided to go again. Big mistake, huge mistake. It is old, very, very old. They have painted the rooms but certainly it does not improve or cover up the real problems. The carpets are thin & cheap looking. The room absolutely reeked of spray. Obviously used to disguise the underlying malodorous smells. I checked in at 9 pm & tolerated it that night. However when we returned after shopping the room had an unbearable Oder of old cigarettes. We aired it out for a few hours to no avail. My sister was developing a migraine from the odor. So we had to leave. My biggest frustration is that they would not comp me or credit me for that night. We were there for less than 24 hrs but were charged for 2 nights. Do not make the same mistake that I did. There are plenty of much nicer hotels nearby about the same cost.

This place definitely went downhill. I haven't been here in years but yesterday will be my last time. This is not family friendly. My kids and I had to listen to a group of men and women drinking from earlier in the day yelling, swearing and talking loud. I felt like it was their hotel and we were their guests and we couldn't enjoy ourselves. Isn't the pool for everyone to enjoy? My daughters were harassed when I left to take my youngest child to take a shower. When I went to the front desk to make a complaint. She shrugged her shoulders put up her hands told me she can't do anything about people drinking. Obviously my concern and complaint wasn't taken seriously and she didn't care. My response was then I will never come back here again. If you can't manage the hotel maybe you shouldn't work there. I'm sure if you had kids you want to hear that crap all day long .

It’s the height of cape cod tourist season... where do you stay without being engulfed in a cloud of out of state tourists and their Covid-tainted droplets?! The Mariner!!! A little in need of updating, but affordably priced. The rooms are pretty good, no overpowering mold smells as I’ve found at more expensive places (cough... cough... Hyannis hotel resort by the rotary) There are two pools, indoor and out, both usable for the price. A quaint mini golf area is an added plus, but not the random homeless guy hanging at the playground with his bike chained to the swing set. All in all, a sort of hidden, last minute gem if you’re understanding of the limits inflicted by tourist volume and season.
