My visit was June 2021. I am writing this because reviews help guide me to decisions. I hope this helps someone. If you are looking for a 4- or 5-star hotel this is not the place for you. The customer service provided by Lisa, Paulette & Alex was amazing with contagious smiles. Customer service is almost non-existence is most business, not at Pequot Hotel. I will state the facts, not Pros versus Cons. Location, Location, Location, and you ask why: 1) Walking distance from Steamship Authority ferry to hotel, 2) Walking distance in the heart of Oak Bluffs shopping, dining, and just plain sightseeing. 3) Short walking distance to bus stop. 4) The surrounding homes on Pequot Ave were lovely and the people sitting on the porches were all friendly. The hotel offers the basic necessities for lodging: A private room, a small bathroom, air condition, small refrigerator, TV with cable channels, iron and ironing board. My appointed room was clean, and the bed was quite comfortable with pillows in different firmness. The hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast with ample selections that was served by a warm friendly lady willing to assist. There are fresh baked chocolate cookies throughout the day. Yummy!!! The dining room is sizable and accommodating. For a day at the beach, the hotel provides beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels. There is no elevator and the stairs in the main house to the upper level were steep, but manageable. Thanks Lisa, Paulette, Alex and all the personnel working behind the scenes (the housekeepers, custodian, ground keeper, etc.…). I will stay again.…
I had business on the island and decided to take my wife for a few day's get-a-way. I went to Trip Advisor of course, to find out more about the island. The Pequot was highly ranked and seemed perfect for us. We were very pleased with our stay. At check in Jill covered all the potential questions before asked. Due to Covid restrictions there were changes in the standard fare, but all were reasonable and appreciated. I did not get the lady's name at the breakfast area, sorry, but she was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast included pastries, fruit, cereals even 3 quiche dishes. Hot coffee, tea and cookies were available in the lobby throughout the day. The room was cozy and clean with standard amenities including a small refrigerator. All in all the hotel was perfect for us. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of everything Oak Bluffs had to offer. I had time for work while my wife enjoyed the Vineyard. After work we played tourist by renting a convertible Mini and covered the entire island. Then back to the Pequot to rock on the front porch with a coffee and chocolate chip cookie.…
Very comfortable and cozy. We stayed in a Bi-Level with the front right at the dining room. Interesting to say the least. However, the hotel is very inviting. The front desk clerk (night shift) seemed to have a bit of an attitide, but we made the best of it. The GM is amazing!!
The historic Pequot Hotel exudes the very essence of Martha's Vineyard and will exceed your expectations. The Pequot is close to the beach and sits on a wonderfully quiet tree filled street surrounded by beautiful cottages. It's front porch is one of the best on the island and it's manicured grounds are full of wonderful details. Lisa the manager is wonderful and really cares about the property and her guests. The rooms are all appropriately sized and full of character. There's no other place on the island as special as the Pequot Hotel.
My husband and I stayed here this past weekend. It was a last minute booking and our first time at this property. We are so glad we did it, and we are already talking about heading back! The room was comfortable, the staff was so very friendly and the whole property is adorable. Do not skip the free breakfast. It is such a great start to the day and as a surprise bonus—mimosas! It is so great that they allow you to leave your luggage all day after checkout, so you can explore the island unhindered by bags. My one tip is, if you’re sensitive to light in the morning, pack a mask...it does get bright! Stay here-you will not regret it.
