I recall this property when family stayed here during a visit to Cape Cod 30 years ago. This prompted me to select the motel for our four day stay on Cape in July. The location on Route 6A is nice enough. The rooms were very clean. However, the grounds require attention. The bushes need to be trimmed back and much of the lawn could use some re-seeding. The most difficult part of the stay had to do with the smell in our room. Specifically, the odor of mold and failing septic tanks were overwhelming. There was a dehumidifier in the room. It worked, but with the noise of the AC unit (which sounded like a running lawnmower) and the volume of the dehumidifier hissing all night, sleep was nearly impossible. Lastly, the mattress was so hard (akin to laying on pine boards) I awoke with agonizing back pain each day. Will not be staying here again.…
The room was very nice and very clean. The grounds need some TLC, removal of dead tree branches and a good prune. The owner was not very welcoming, there was no rapport at all. The notices inside the rooms were rather unpleasant and even threatening that should the room even smell of smoke after departure then there would be a substantial amount deducted from your credit card. It takes the shine off a bit.
Looks like renovations in progress, but Room was great, parking tight Check-in ez Right on 6A Comfortable place to stay. Didn't notice a pool, but that have Basketball, The place had a Bread and Breakfast feel but at same time it was casual and charming for short stay.
Pretty, comfortable room with unexpected canopy beds! Only negative is that the man in the office could not help us with questions; could not tell if this was a language problem or if he was just busy. Loved pond and ducks, and a great location for soghtseeing.
We booked this motel for it's location . We were equidistant to two of the places we were going. It was a good home base. We stayed 4 nights. We arrived late and the office was closed, but they left a key for us. Upon opening the door to our room, the musty smell hit you in the face. We brought an air purifier with us, but the smell after 4 nights was through out our clothes and other items. We couldn't leave the air purifier on while we were gone. Our salt grinder even clumped on us. Is this because it's close to the ocean? Not sure. The room itself was very nice. Canopy bed, 2 wing back chairs, beautiful hardwood floors. The bathroom could stand an update but we have no complaints except for the musty smell. The room has a microwave and fridge/freezer. I would stay again but would want the musty smell eradicated. …
We recently stayed at the Earl of Sandwich motel during a recent trip to Cape Cod. We have stayed here before, and it is a reliable and comfortable place to stay when in area, Very nice and well maintained property and a quiet area behind the motel that includes an interesting duck pond. Nothing really oustanding, but a good central location with reliable service. Recommended
We enjoyed our stay here. Our room had two canopied beds and a wood floor with two rugs. We used the microwave and the refrigerator. It was nice to ht ave air conditioning but also windows that opened for fresh air. The down side was the very weak wifi that continually cut out.
If you are looking for very nice, affordable accommodations in the Sandwich, MA area, look no further. We did not need a high priced room, just a conveniently located motel near our points of interests . We found it at The Earl of Sandwich. The Cliffords, owners and operators of the motel and their staff were very friendly and helpful. Some may consider the accommodations a bit dated in appearance, but you quickly loose sight of that with the modern amenities and cleanliness provided. The flowering, landscaped grounds and duck pond (with several species of ducks) provide a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, whether seated on the grassy area or on your personal deck outside your sliding patio door (note: some rooms don't have decks). Their pool area is very well maintained and private. We will definitely be back when returning to the Sandwich area!…
We had to arrive at midnight but our key was taped to the front door ready to go. They have a chicken coop and geese and ducks, sweet places to sit outside all over the grounds and a pool! And a basketball net. It’s very close to restaurants, all kinds of fun things (like mini golf) and the beach. We walked to the local convenience store. The rooms have great decor - my room had a four post bed, my daughters had canopy beds – very nifty. Check out the owners dogs :-)
modest but lovely with nicely landscaped property - the azaleas were exquisite. Very nice people and will be better when COVID restrictions are lifted there there will be a breakfast buffet I think. Very comfortable accommodations.
