This is an outstanding hotel and the best value in the DMV area. The hotel is filled with every amenity you can imagine - several excellent restaurants, large bar, indoor pool, fitness room, and a fabulous spa. If you like, you never have to leave the hotel. The staff is outstanding the facility is spotless. We got a 9th floor room with a tremendous view of our alma mater and the beautiful campus. This is truly a great place to stay.

The rooms were nice and spacious - really liked the scent of the provided toiletries in the room, The steakhouse in the lobby had the best salmon and I loved the goat cheese salad the following day. Service was phenomenal. Took me a little bit to figure out the coffee maker - it seems as though the directions from my room had vanished, but a colleague mentioned having directions in her room.

We love staying at The Hotel at UMD when we drop off and visit our kids who attend UMD. It's very nice and clean and a great location. Sometimes the line can be very long to check in, but I think you can check in online now. It can get a little pricey compared to other hotels, but It's location makes it worth it for us. I wish they had a full service restaurant in the hotel, but Bagels and Grinds and Potomac Pizza are very good. They are on the ground level outside the doors of the hotel. I have noticed it takes a while to get room service if you have a special request for extra towels or shampoo. Probably due to staffing issues.

First off, the hotel is absolutely beautiful! I loved the fact that it is in the direct vicinity of everything I needed, particularly the University of MD, which s directly across the street. I absolutely loved the layout of my room, with the couch, spacious desk, chair, and the remote-control curtains/blinds. I was so ecstatic to discover the commode was in a separate room from the shower. I also appreciated the fact that I could turn all the lights off with a button located on the nightstand. Talk about top tier! Overall, I had a wonderful stay, and everything was lovely, except the service I received from a staff member at the front desk. It took two days for them to get the requested information to my employer so they could pay for my reservation. The employee was quite rude and offered no apologies or accommodations for the inconvenience. Aside from that, I would stay at this location again.

I am currently on my 5th and final day at this hotel, and I am extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service here with the exception of the service technician, Mersada, who is a Godsend.
I was originally booked for a 1 bedroom suite here but it had all sorts of electricity issues and no other suites were available so I was downgraded to a studio (but charged the same).
That didn’t bother me because I am really just here to work, but what has been truly upsetting is the fact that it’s impossible to get housekeeping to clean.
Firstly, no one mentioned to me at check-in that house keeping only comes if you call. This would have been especially helpful to know because they have a digital system in the room that allows you to press a “service” button indicating that your room needs to be cleaned. Intuitively one would think that calls them to clean your room.
After 3 days of pressing this button and returning each day to a room that had not been touched, I called the front desk and the guy explained to me that we need to call to request it. He said he was sending house keeping up right away so I left the room to come work in the Lobby. I saw house keeping in the hallway where my room was an assumed my room would be next since he said he was sending them to clean my room.
After working in the VERY loud lobby for over 3 hours, I returned upstairs only to discover my room had not been cleaned. I spoke to the house keeper in the hallway and she said she would only be cleaning check outs, not any current guest rooms.
This morning, I made ANOTHER attempt to get my room cleaned. The lady at the front desk said she would be sending someone “shortly”. I spoke to a member of the housekeeping staff in the hallway and they also confirmed they would call to make sure someone comes.
Well law and behold, 3 hours later, yet again…..nothing.
At this point, I am completely over it, and just want to leave.
The only saving grace and sole reason that I am giving this review any stars is because Mersada was truly amazing. She was the only staff member that cared when I was having issues and got me into a new room swiftly and went above and beyond to get me additional lighting so that I could work well despite their technical difficulties. She truly has a “can-do” , customer-centered, spirit and everyone else can stand to learn from her.
If you want to stay in a dirty room for the entirely of your stay then come here, but just know, house keeping will not come, and the front desk will not care.

Beautiful hotel and location. terrible room experience and poor service. AC went out through the day and was told to wait. Called 6 times to get it checked. Engineer came to check at 10pm (after calling at 730,830,930) to have it checked out and if someone was coming. Finally 10pm they opened a vent and told us to wait. Fuse continued to blow, room was 78 and rising and final straw was midnight when the fuse began to smoke. They told us they couldn’t get us another room until 1:15am to clean, and we had to pack up our stuff and carry our sleeping 4 and 6 year old to a room 3 floors up that also didn’t have AC on and had to wait until 3:30am for the temp to get below 74. I warn people that getting a trip through a third party is great if no issues. If there is an issue the hotel can’t do anything about it and the third party will put you through the wringer. I’d like to have enjoyed this beautiful place but the stresses it put on my family who was looking for a good night rest after 6hrs of driving and another 6 the next day really put a damper on the experience we wanted to have in college park and really did not live up to the 4 star hotel and overall travel experience we were looking to enjoy for what we paid for. Hopefully we are compensated through Expedia or the hotel but as of now they are all dragging there feet.

Firstly, the reservation process was subpar for a 4-Diamond hotel. Despite advertising a spa package, the details were unclear and even the staff were unaware of its availability and how it can be booked or applied. So I had to book the spa and hotel room separately, missing out on the advertised benefits such as early check-in, late checkout, and complimentary parking.
The hotel itself looks great and was clean, the stay was awful. The first night was constant banging pipes, which made it impossible to sleep. Additionally, alarms went off without any emergency, and the front desk staff offered no apology, merely acknowledging the noise and stating it would stop. It didn't for over an hour.
Even the spa experience was poor. The water was cold and said they had no hot water, so the shower was not fun or relaxing at all! The opposite of the entire "wellness, relaxing experience" they're selling.
On the second night, the situation worsened. The pipes were even louder, and the alarm went off again around 7 a.m., continuing until 8 a.m. This disturbance was so bad that I decided to leave and return home, where I found more relaxation with my toddlers.
The stay was unpleasant but a waste of money. The price is not cheap, and comparable to other nicer hotels. Go there. And you'll even get points/miles for staying there and even an attempt at making it better!

When booked, was not informed there would be a $50 hotel fee per night. Housekeeping did not come to the room the next day and when called front desk, was told we were supposed to receive a letter explaining we needed to request housekeeping services, and the letter was not provided to us. Front desk did not apologize for their lack of providing necessary information. Terrible customer service. Would NOT recommend.

We hosted a church banquet event at this venue, but also stayed overnight for two nights. The rooms were AH-MA-ZING!! I am a hotel snob and self proclaimed germaphobe!! 😆 The room accommodations were flawless!! Extremely clean and very modern. Unfortunately, I did not take pics, but what you see on the website are exactly how they look!! We are local, but plan to visit again for a staycation….it was that nice!! Located directly across from the Univ of MD with access to a variety of restaurants, to include the restaurants onsite, which are fabulous! Thank you to Kelsey Lapore, who was our event coordinator and arranged our room accommodations! I could not have asked for a better experience!
For our event, Kelsey was the epitome of professionalism and an absolute joy to work with! She had wonderful suggestions and very responsive to all my questions/concerns/changes. She ensured every detail of our event was taken care of! The day of the event, we needed to make some slight adjustments and I was accommodated without hesitation! Our banquet Captain Rayon, Derrick (helped move our tables/seating), the onsite audio/visual team, and Tera who assisted in Kelsey’s absence the day of the event were absolutely wonderful and made the adjustments to ensure we were satisfied! The venue is gorgeous!! Our event was held on the penthouse level (Top of the 7’s) which has a spectacular view with naturally beautiful aesthetics!! If you are planning an event and need an elegant setting for any occasion, with impeccable customer service, I highly recommend The Hotel @ UMD!! My event was a huge success and I have not one complaint!! Oh, and the food was DELICIOUS!! Our guests are still commenting about how tasty everything was!! THANK YOU to Kelsey and Team!!

I come to the Spa to see Dana Ready for a pedicure. She’s thee best! It’s the only place I will go. The spa has zero gravity chairs to relax in before and after your pedicure. The staff is always ready to receive you and Dana works her magic from the time you put your feet in the bowl. She will offer you a heated neck pillow before making your feet look brand new. She takes her time and doesn’t rush through your appointment. since I started coming here, Dana has always been concerned about the health of my feed over anything else. She is a true professional. Book with her. On my last appointment, I told her she should be training others because she’s so good!
