What a great find. Absolutely beautiful setting with meticulously landscaped grounds, water views, spacious rooms, and an infinity pool and private balconies overlooking the ocean. The bed was very comfortable, the room was immaculate, and the towels/linens were plush unlike the cheap towels and linens many hotels use. The location is centrally located with just a short drive to Rockland, Rockport, and Camden and only about 30 min to Damariscotta. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Cindy who was working the front desk was wonderful. I can’t recommend this place highly enough and I guarantee you won’t find anywhere nearly this nice for the price. I can’t wait for our next visit and definitely plan to stay here again.

We are a tight-knit family of three, so room 116 was perfect. It sports a king bed in the main room and up three small stairs is its own separate “captain’s quarters,” with its idyllic view and TV. Even the patio had three chairs, although I know other rooms do, too. Oh, how I wish the Inn had a continental breakfast, (they do put out delicious coffee, beginning at 7 AM and throughout the day) so we didn’t have to travel to the Mariner in Camden. (This harbor view treat does offer a great breakfast, but is closed on Tuesdays, and there are ridiculously few other choices.) The Inn’s infinity pool is a real treat, but don’t be surprised if it gets noisy. (The best time to swim is early morning.) The grounds are stunning and everything is extremely clean and neat.

We spent 3 nights at the Island View Inn last week. We had a 2nd floor room (as requested) with a phenominal view! It looked exactly like the picture on their web site! Oars and binoculars in the room. Comfy bed with nice linens. Big bathroom. Very CLEAN!! The 2nd floor rooms have enclosed porches rather than open balconies. It adds a whole other room to your stay. The porches have ceiling fans, a table and chair, and 3 windows. The infinity pool is gorgeous. We spent an hour or so there every afternoon after our excursions. There is no restaurant on the property, but coffee is available in the lobby starting at 7am. Very friendly staff. We had a minor glitch with our TV, and it was fixed by the time we got back from our travels.

Close to both Camden and Rockport, there are MANY restarant options! However, don't plan to eat late - most restaurants shut down at 8pm!

Lots to see and do in the area. Sailboat rides, hiking, lighthouses to visit, fishing charters, mountains to climb (or drive up), etc.

I highly recommend this hotel! All rooms have king beds. No kids. Peace and quiet!

I'm sure we'll go back!

We stayed four nights at the Island View Inn in August. We'd never been as far up the Maine coast before and the location was just right: between Rockland and Camden. The inn was lovely. Our room was quite large, exceptionally clean, with a comfortable king bed and a delightful porch overlooking the water. Binoculars are provided for a closer look. Two chairs and a small glass table allowed for a perfect breakfast (while the inn does provide very good coffee and tea, we did have to venture out for food: we discovered a bagel place just a few minutes drive away that was very convenient) and wine glasses, a corkscrew, and ice bucket meant leisurely drinks before and after dinner. The inn has an infinity pool that's heated, with comfortable chaise lounges. The front desk provides pool towels. And if you want to immerse yourself, take a walk down to the Adirondack chairs by water's edge and soak in the scenery. The area has wonderful restaurants to choose from, and Rockland's Farnsworth Museum has beautiful Andrew Wyeth watercolors. We took a short trip up to Belfast one day and another down to Port Clyde. Island View Inn was a wonderful base for our trip, and a wonderful place to come back to when we wanted to just relax.

Just a lovely spot with sparkling clean rooms overlooking a beautiful day. Two pools to choose from. If we return to Maine we shall come here for certain. I would recommend getting a room balcony on the second floor with balcony but all the rooms have views.

The views are real, from every room. What is not apparent from the pictures is the attention to detail in the decor, the obsessive cleanliness, the beautiful gardens. A speck of dirt inside or out is attacked immediately by the staff of this compulsive owner. Everything is "just so". This will be our place in mid coast main going forward.

As soon as you drive into the parking lot, you will be impressed with the beauty and quality of this inn. The landscaping is lovely and there is a heated infinity pool that overlooks Penobscot Bay. The rooms have been professionally decorated with a nautical theme, and there is a four seasons enclosed porch which adds space to the already large room. The spacious bathroom has a small refrigerator. The bed was amazing and everything was spotless. The room had a view of a large meadow and the bay. We enjoyed taking a walk down the paths of the fragrant meadow to sit in Adirondack chairs with umbrellas by the water. We watched Ospreys and sailboats and enjoyed the serenity. We would definitely return.

I just have one suggestion. Could you upgrade the coffee to match the quality of the rest of your hotel? The coffee was not good. Maybe provide larger cups also. Since breakfast is not provided, I think this is not too much to ask.

Have stayed here several times in the last few years but I noticed this time it is not the place it use to be. The chamber maid only made up part of the room, (twin in next room was not made up at all), slider to the porch was so stuck & hard to move very tiny soaps which were very hard to hold & shower with, (no body wash), no hair conditioner, and extremely limited TV channels with no guide in any way, shape or form, less than basic cable. Rooms very clean, however. & good size, no microwave but can get extremely strong coffee in lobby in the morning.

Beautiful room with a private porch overlooking the bay. We spent a lot of time just enjoying that porch! The inn is centrally located between Camden and Rockland so there are many things to do within a short distance. Although I never comment on housekeeping, I have to say this was the most thorough I believe we have ever experienced! Highly recommend.

My wife & I along with two other couples stayed at the inn just two weeks ago. This is the 4th consecutive year we have vacationed here. We stayed 5 nights in room 111. Every year we stay in one of these 2nd floor rooms. We love the porch with 3 windows to view the tiny cove a couple of hundred feet from the inn. The room is large with a king bed and large bathroom. The inn is meticulously maintained. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms extremely clean and well kept. The heated infinity pool overlooking the cove below makes for a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the moment. All the staff are gracious. Patty on the reception desk was a joy to speak to. Very helpful with restaurant recommendations and places of interest. Equally close to Camden, Rockland & the charming tiny harbor of Rockport. We'll return again next year. We love this inn.

Sorry, we are unable to assure you regarding the pool in October. Its up to mother nature, if the weather stays warm, we keep it open as long as possible, but late Sept. is usually the end.

Yes! the water is cold, and the pool offers the "illusion" of being in the sea, while the temp is a more comfortable, 85 . But yes, you can walk down to the water and swim in the cove!
