We stayed three night at the end of the summer, as we really wanted to get away. The location of the resort is beautiful but definitely not remote (which was a good thing for us). It is close to Camden and lots of great restaurants. Even close to this amazing little cafe that has the best breakfast around. My kids really loved the heated pool and the view was so amazing with breakwater. Really the resort has a ton of potential. But I am not giving it 5 stars as it was really expensive, but I understand that tourism industry has taken a major hit this year. I have never paid this much for a resort. Other resorts that I have stayed at our really on top of their rooms. Issues being there was some mold and cracked tiles, easily just recaulking could have avoided this. Also there was stains on the wallpaper. One of the main reasons I am not giving 5 stars is I saw 3 staff members in the room next to my room (with door fully open) without masks on. I reached out to front desk and mgmt on this but both made excuses for why this is ok. I was really uncomfortable booking a hotel room so I searched for reviews that said they were doing a good job with COVID, so this was a disappoint. I understand that everyone needs a mask break but for everyone's safety it should be done outside or in larger safer room (not in guest rooms). As it is shocking to think the person who was cleaning my room didn't have a mask on right before we checked in. I will give them credit as there was daily reminders for guests to wear their masks and signs everywhere and filters running in the hallways. In all other encounters staff were wearing their masks properly. I understand this all new and hard to manage which is why I am still giving a good review as it is beautiful location but considering that super spreader event was spreading around Maine at that time I think it was poor choice.

Our apologies for not completely meeting your covid concerns, which is first and foremost on our teams minds... keeping everyone safe. Our 24” x 40” Chalk Board in the lobby states: “Mask Up, Protect One Another” our goal is to follow that throughout the resort, applicable to all guest and team members. My wife in I recently spent several days exploring the Mid Coast Region of Maine!
Being a Maine resident we are truly blessed with what our beautiful State has to offer us in our own backyard!!
The highlight of our trip was of course our time that we spent as a guest at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.
In my opinion and I am sure that many others feel the same way it is one of if notthe best oceanfront view in all of Maine!
Of course when we booked our stay we had questions as to how the Samoset is handling precautions and awareness during the current COVID 19 Pandemic.
Upon our arrival we were immediately put at ease as we noted the employees working on the outside premises all wore masks!!
As we entered the lobby to check in there is signage that greets you outining the social distancing policies in the Main Lobby.
At the Front Desk there is a clear plexiglass partition between guest and employee. Of course the employee was wearing a mask and for any transaction that required a signature we were handed a pen completely enclose in a plastic covering that was our pen to keep following the transaction.
We were briefed on what precautions are being taken in each room and then provided with a brochure detailing Samoset Resort COVID 10 Operations 2020.
As we proceeded to our guest room we noted social distancing signage and a touch free hand sanitizing dispenser.
Upon arrival to our guest room I immediately noted that the TV remote was enclosed in a plastic disposable wrapper as was the pen we had used earlier.
All glassware has been removed and replaced with paper cups. Guest information books removed from all rooms.
Indoor pool is closed to guests but their beautiful outdoor pool is open along with the pool bar! Accompanying hot tub to the outside pool is closed as expected.
In both restaurants the number of tables have been reduced with the remaining tables moved to provide greater social distancing. And of course our courteous and professional waiter was wearing a mask.
Overall our stay exceeded our expectations!
As I was reminded recently by a former coworker and Senior Vice President of Marketing of the Bank that we both worked for, the Samoset was the location of managements Summer outing annually!
While Maine Savings Bank is no longer I have memory of an award that they gave to an employee recognizes for something that they did that was above and beyond, it was called the 101% Award!
The Samoset Resort has earned that award for how they have responded with their effort to make their guests stay safe and relaxing during these unprecedented times!!

Stayed for one night middle of August for my brothers wedding. Was my first time staying since the guest room renovations. They did a wonderful job, very well done. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful, even though like all businesses they are suffering with staffing levels.

Right from check in, Connie Russell the GM was pleasant and helpful and made us all feel welcome. We live locally so we actually showed up prior to check in and were able to use some of the amenities like the outdoor pool and backyard games before the afternoon ceremony. Chairs do get hard to come by if you wait too long in the day so if you can get there earlier you’ll have better luck. We dined at the Splash pool bar for lunch and it was perfect as we didn’t have to leave property and the kids could continue to swim right up until our food was ready.

Ceremony was perfect, and all the details were perfectly handled by Linde the Wedding Coordinator. She is A+ and a true asset to your company. Hold onto her!

After the ceremony we joined the cocktail hour on the front lawn before dining and dancing under the tent to finish the evening. The banquets staff was attentive to every guest, always filling glasses and clearing plates in a timely fashion. David Day has his team running at full efficiency this time of year, really a nice thing to see. The convention services crew had all the rooms and spaces prepared perfectly with nothing out of place or needing any adjustments. Their hard work was definitely noticeable.

The Samoset is a top notch facility and absolutely breathtaking, especially for a wedding. My wife and I were married here as well back in September of 2008, so it was nice to come back and experience the magic happening for another special couple.

If you’re looking for a nice summer getaway, event space for a wedding or retreat, look no further than the Samoset. You can’t find a better location filled with hard working staff aiming to meet and exceed your expectations. Top notch Samo, well done 👌🏻

10/10 would recommend

I have stayed at the Samoset several times, and have always had an excellent experience. The rooms have been renovated recently with very tasteful, coastal decor, and the customer service at the resort is among the best I have experienced anywhere.

My husband and I spent a weekend in June at the resort, which was a welcome respite from quarantine. I spent several hours reading outside in a rocking chair on our room balcony overlooking the ocean breakwater and golf course. We had a nice, socially distant meal at the hotel restaurant. The area also has a number of excellent restaurants, and one night we ordered curbside pickup and brought it back to eat on our balcony. We also enjoyed walking around the resort and went on a hike on one of the many local hiking trails. The staff was doing a great job keeping the property safe with signage, cleaning, mask wearing, fresh pens at checkout, and hand sanitizer dispensers located throughout. I highly recommend.

My husband and I decided to visit the Samoset this summer for a bit of a "staycation" (we're Mainers and live about an hour and a half from the resort). We were so unbelievably pleased with our stay, I wish I could give a review higher than excellent. First and foremost, the safety measures to ensure a clean environment were fantastic. No detail went overlooked, including sanitizing stations, mandatory mask wearing, and distant seating at the hotel restaurant. Our room was spotless upon arrival and had an amazing deck with comfy rocking chairs where we could enjoy the view and a glass of wine. We even lost track of the time and went to order room service AFTER the hours of service and they made something work for us so we could have a late night pizza. Staff went above and beyond, which must not be easy given all the extra measures during the pandemic. We absolutely recommend a stay here and can't wait to come back!

Where do I begin? Our first stay at Samoset was absolutely amazing. The gorgeous view and pleasant, knowledgeable staff were only a few of the many wonderful things during our stay. At check in, Connie and the staff answered all my questions. A resort map was helpful to know where all the amenities were located. Josh from the front desk assisted me with unloading the vehicle being I am disabled. We stayed on the "entry" level in building one. There are no elevators in the timeshare units, so if you are physically challenged and stairs are an issue for you, definitely stay on the entry level. Our view of the golf course and Breakwater was as if we were in a dream. Such a gorgeous, clean and comfortable resort. My husband and family played golf and mentioned that a few holes were on the oceanfront. The course is challenging for all golf players. The waves, the Breakwater and gorgeous weather made for a perfect day for 18 holes. We visited the pool and the zero entry was so nice. The wicker furniture was so comfortable, we fell asleep under the umbrellas. Wow, what a view from every area of the resort. I love nature, so the bird watching and gorgeous landscaping was so comforting to see while sipping my morning coffee on the patio. This is a quiet, family oriented resort. At dark, there are a few fire pits around the resort to toast marshmallows or meet new friends. There were no parties or loud people in our building. That conduct would definitely be frowned upon by the staff. There were two TVs and local cable channels. At night, people retire to their rooms and are remenesing about all the new memories they made that day. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. The timeshare unit had all cooking utensils, convection oven/microwave oven, coffee pot. It was terrific to cook food from local markets. We will return very soon or may purchase a timeshare unit to have every year! Thank you to all of Samoset's Staff that helped make our vacation so memorable!

This is our second time at the Samoset this summer. Initially we were nervous about staying in a resort during COVID but right away we felt completely comfortable with the measures and precautions taken by the staff at the resort to keep guests and staff safe.
The front desks greeters were so friendly and accommodating. Our room wasn’t ready (we arrived early) so they took care of our bags and we were able to relax by the pool with our friends.
The pool view is AMAZING! Very family friendly with yard games for kids/adults on the lawn area and chaise chairs surrounding the pool but without an overcrowded feel. There are also areas to lounge with a bigger group with fire pits. The pool bar and food is served quickly and was really good. I would recommend the fish tacos.
We went to our room and the ocean views are stunning! The rooms are very clean and updated in the main building. The beds were extremely comfortable.
To our surprise, we had a very generous upgrade the next day. It far exceeded our expectations!!! We were able to have our small group of friends gather in one location for the evening and enjoy the spectacular views that this resort has to offer.
The guys golfed 2 days and loved the course and the views.
We ate on the patio at La Bella Vita for breakfast and dinner. The meals didn’t disappoint and the wait staff was attentive.
We can’t say enough good things about our stays at the Samoset. The General Manager, Connie, certainly goes above and beyond to make his guests happy. The rest of the staff all have the same attitude.

We spent 2 nights here with our puppy in one of the pet friendly rooms. They put the pets in rooms on the bottom floor with a walkout porch that leads directly to grass which is super convenient at night or in the early mornings with your furry friend. Poo bag stations conveniently located around the resort in case you find yourself without a bag. Staff was extremely pleasant and the room was very clean upon arrival. Dedicated walking areas for the pup was excellent and we explored quite a bit of the grounds. Lots of other friendly dogs around the resort as well which was nice. Beautiful pool with outside bar overlooking the golf course and ocean. 9 hole disc golf course, large playground area, tennis courts, and basketball courts will keep the kiddos busy during the day. A true resort experience with multiple restaurants as well where you can park the car and enjoy yourself without ever leaving. Another huge plus is that there are plenty of things to do with a short drive in Camden and surrounding towns. Check out the Belted Galloway cows at Aldermere Farm (they look like oreo cookies!) and the Andre the Seal statue in Rockport Harbor. Couldn't imagine having a more relaxing weekend anywhere else. Can't wait to go back with the pup. A definite 5 PAW experience.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Samoset . We had a 2 room suite which was clean and beautifully appointed.

We ate breakfast and most dinners overlooking the golf course and the ocean. It was so special because I felt like I was in the Caribbean. The chef makes the most perfect Eggs Benedict. We started each day walking to the Breakwater Light.

All the staff that we encountered was extremely helpful and pleasant. I especially liked that someone texted me before we checked in to see if there was anything we needed in the suite. It made it easy to text back during our stay when the towels ran out at the pool.

I was impressed that the Bell Person gave us cold waters for our ride home when we didn’t even use his services. It’s nice that the resort lets guests use the carts themselves. The hotel is classy enough without being stuffy.

We hope to return next year.

Hello emh107, Gotta love Paradise in Maine, we take our beautiful location for granted on occasion, but know in the end we live in a very special place on the majestic Midcoast. Our eighteen two room suites, ten with hot tubs on the decks, are ideal for extra space, whose living room with sleep sofa, second tv, under the counter frig/freezer and microwave are set for additional family members or early risers. The Breakwater is 7/8ths of a mile to the lighthouse and can’t be beat to walk during daylight hours. Labella vita and Enoteca overlooking the golf course and Penobscot Bay offer dining with a view or additional options for lunch at the Clubhouse Grille and Splash bar. Our customer friendly texting system allows our team to respond quicker to important guest requests, I’m pleased you found it useful. Our bell staff graciously offers cold Poland Spring bottled water to guests at the Porte cache for their trip home. Thanks for recognizing our service culture, which we believe is first class. We too hope you return back to Paradise next year. With Hospitality, Connie Russell

Our family spent a week on vacation in Maine. Our time at the Samoset was the highlight. The resort is beautiful with plenty of activities so we never even left for the few days we were there. The pool is amazing and the staff was attentive to all of our needs and requests. The front desk and GM were pleasant and eager to help. The pool staff was great and always hard at work too taking care of people and cleaning. During the COVID situation we were especially impressed with the care and cleanliness as everything was constantly being sanitized, making us feel much safer than the other two hotels we used. Can’t wait to return!

Not that I know of. Do you mean how old you need to be to book a room? If that I would guess 18 but don't have anything definite.
