The best CS-related incident was when my nephew had a bad stomachache and I pleaded with Alona restaurant to consider giving him a serving of congee. Without hesitation, the staff informed her supervisor, and it was allowed for php240 which I did not mind. GOOD: clean, fluffy, comfortable linens and room. I love the happy hour! The breakfast buffet was good and varied every day. Service was quick and friendly. I availed the massage from KAI, it was fantastic! However, you might like to consider bringing down the price a bit. FOR IMPROVEMENT: 1) edge steps must be marked/painted to avoid accidents, 2) passing the sign "No leftovers" during buffet is unfriendly. Put it in front of the receiving counter and as guests arrive to give their room numbers, remind them verbally or pass a translated note to foreigners,3) for an added touch, put a branded tote "bayong" and native fan to welcome your guests that they may bring home or purchase from the concierge if they want more. For GUESTS, be considerate of the hotel's facilities and staff. We do not need a linen change every time, do we? Save the earth, dry your room towels by the balcony, and fix your bed.

We stayed at Henann Tawala Resort for our Bohol travel with my friends and booked two rooms for this trip. One of the best attributes in this hotel is their food. The breakfast they serve daily is sumptuous and you have a lot of choices since the food they serve is different everyday. Another good thing about this hotel is the location, it is a 10minute drive from the airport and is situated in near the fastfood and restaurants, bars and gift shops. The Pool bar offers different drinks and I wasn’t expecting they would still provide the drink I ordered even without in the menu..
The room is spacious to accommodate 3 adults but the room assigned to us doesn’t have the view of the resort, so its a minus point for me. In addition, rooms assigned to us have less privacy because the balcony is facing the hallway and corridors, so its not a good idea to relax on the balcony.
I’m disappointed because there is no gym in the Tawala resort so guest staying here have to pay an additional fee just to use the gym. Also guests stayong in Tawala cannot use the Alona hotel pool considering they are situated in one property. This is not a service oriented resort but more on a capitalistic business and Henann resort is income centric hotel.
I would suggest you’d be fair enough for your guests staying in one property. Why not allow guests to swim on Alona resort pool for a period of time? Or the use of gym should be free of charge considering you did not put gym in the Tawala resort. This is kinda disappointing for a Hospitality industry and ironic that you can’t provide hospitality service in its full.
On the contrary, staff here in Tawala Resort are very welcoming and accommodating on every guests. They provide everything you need but sometimes it feels like they don’t trust their guests; like when we requested for a bottle opener, it should be the hotel staff to do the thing and the opener should not be left in the room.
Well, I hope Henann Resort should reevaluate their kind of service because their people are very service oriented but the hotel itself isn’t.

With the attention to detail by the Reservation Team as I booked our Stay they surprised us with the little things making our stay extra special
Rooms are cold and spacious with an option of a screen door at the balcony if you prefer the cool breeze from the outside. We deeply appreciate the warm welcome and greeting also the folded towels to celebrate our honeymoon (Folded towels are usually per request and comes with additional charge but again the attention to detail is appreciated)
Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide selection of local and western options. Their Egg station is a piece of heaven for people who adore eggs. Their Bread station also has a wide variety of loafs, savory and sweet breads. The waiters will happily ask you for drink refills each breakfast after my cup of coffee I had a minimum of 3 freshly squeezed Orange Juice because of their constant asking
Room service was excellent we stayed for 4 days and the room was cleaned everyday and room amenities were replenished daily. Bathrobes and Room Slippers are available upon request as part of their eco friendly initiatives
Front desk staff are welcoming and warm they will assist you with everything you need.
Airport Transfers - it comes at a cost but is reasonable compared to taking transfers offered by private taxis at the airport for a seamless vacation I advise that travelers avail of this service
Pool bar - both in Tawala and Alona are worth your buck their wide selection of beers and cocktails provide the perfect companion in lounging near the pool or sitting and chilling on the pool bar
Overall it was a 5/5 experience will definitely come back if given the chance and visit other HENNAN properties to see the consistency in their product/ service delivery.

During my stay, the facilities were very clean, and the staff were generally kind. However, I encountered an unpleasant incident upon checking out. While inspecting the room, hotel staff claimed that a small corner of the plastic stand used to hold menus and notices was broken. I do not recall dropping or damaging this item, nor did I have any reason to even touch it. The stand in question is something one could easily purchase at a dollar store for about a dollar (and I assumed this to be much much cheaper in the Philippines), yet the hotel demanded 400 pesos for the alleged damage—a notably high charge for a five-star establishment. The broken portion was about an inch at the back corner of the stand. I objected to this fee and requested to speak with a manager. Although I waited approximately 15 minutes, I never spoke with the manager; instead, the front desk clerk eventually informed me that I would not be charged. I understand that guests are liable for any damage incurred during their stay, but 400 pesos for such a minor issue seems unreasonable. I hope management reviews its policy on damage charges to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future.

I just find the hotel's policy on young kids ridiculous.. 5 y.o are already charged half (825) of the adult rate (1650). And this rate changed when booked on the spot. Their fine print says prepaid is 1,456 but was silent that rate will change when extra person is booked on the checkin day. Room is literally just for 2 pax and only a kid below 4 y.o can stay without extra charge.
We stayed 3 nights, checked in around 9PM the first day and still they aren't lenient to forego charging our kid the first night, who by the way just ate porridge for breakfast.
And mind you, food is not allowed to be taken to the room (jollibee/mcdo chicken), only pica pica is allowed.. So if u still have hefty leftover after dining in the restaurants around Alona beach, put that to waste, you can't take it in with you in your room.
Breakfast starts 6AM, we asked if they can just pack some for us even just bread, since we'll go dolphin watching early morning at 5:30. They won't allow! We paid for extra adult and a kid and said breakfast comes with the room, not with the extra charges we paid. I think other hotels offer to pack for their guests, others care for their guests and have better customer service.
My friend who's a local also visited me around 5PM to bring me some delicacies (kalamay) that I can carry back home, but they were flagged that visitors are not allowed inside the rooms. Why, is this a dormitory that friends are not allowed inside the rooms? They aren't sleeping over.
I just find the hotel's policies ridiculous compared to the many 5-star hotels all around the country. The only nice thing in Henann is location but the dismissive attitude of the staff and the overly strict policy is just discriminating and frustrating that you don't want to return to Bohol.. To compare, Solea is not strict as long as kids share the same bed with parents. Mithi Resort where we spent our first night also didn't charge small kids, which is the norm in almost hotels.
Worst self-proclaimed luxury hotel I've been into. Never to all Henann chains again!

Response from Karine Lumbo, Guest Services / Front Office at Henann Tawala Resort Bohol
Responded Jan 16, 2024
Dear wandertripper, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We appreciate your insights, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. Your comments are crucial for our continuous improvement, and we would like to address some of the concerns you raised. We understand your frustration with the policy regarding charges for young children. We recommend booking in advance, including the child, to ensure accurate preparation of room allocation. Our official booking site also explicitly states our policy for extra persons including children. With regard to outside food, our policy allows guests to bring outside food into the resort but it should be consumed at the restaurant and there is corresponding corkage fee. This fee is in place to cover the additional service and cleaning required when outside food is consumed at the resort. Concerning visitors, our policy is in place to prioritize the safety and security of all guests within the hotel premises. We regret any inconvenience that this may have caused and will review this policy to see if there are areas for improvement. We sincerely apologize for falling short of your expectations, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Thank you for your valuable feedback. Best regards, Karine Lumbo Front Office Manager

We paid for our accommodation in full months in advance. On arrival we were required to pay a PHP 3000.0 per night security deposit and on top of that there was a compulsory buffet dinner payment for some rooms. Never heard of such a compulsory payment before. Apparently all of this is mentioned in their fine print somewhere. If we had been notified about said payments in our booking confirmation documentation we could have at least made sure about having extra funds available. Then of course is the problem of getting the hold on your security deposit removed once you check out. We checked out over 1 ½ weeks ago and I am still trying to have my funds released. Henann doesn’t seem to have any respect or care for their customers once they have their money. I can understand the need for a security deposit I suppose But not the need to hold these funds once you have checked out. I would not recommend this group to anyone. I guess having tied up a lot of the beach locations on the islands customer satisfaction is secondary to them Steve

First off reservation through agoda limits you to 2 per person room even though I added my 2 kids (7 and 3 yo) when we arrived we were charged additional for my 7 yo and I additional family member. We had 2 rooms so meaning you can only have 2 in your room period. She said that I should have booked through their site directly. Obviously there’s a misinformation between Agoda and the hotel but either way, a better customer service would have been nice. So that’s the first red flag. The hotel staff seems like they could care less and all they care about is money. The room is ok but the shower smelled like urine. The pool was also ok and you can’t use the pool in Henann Alona so just fyi. Although they are the same company and right next door to each other. Weird right, but at least the front desk staff tells you that at check in and even crosses it out on your map.lol. Breakfast was mediocre, food didn’t seemed fresh and they only had 2 kinds of fruit (pineapple and watermelon).lol. I’m sorry but I guess I am spoiled as we are currently staying at Sheraton, Cebu (19 days to be exact) and I must say their free breakfast doesn’t compare with Henann for it to be a 5-Star hotel (no towel cards here). At checkout I informed the from desk that my husband didn’t get the 2 towel cards from the hotel boy and she automatically said well you will have to pay. She didn’t offer to ask what happened or help figure out where the towels were and instead insisted on why we didn’t report it yesterday. First off, yes it may be my fault for not going down with my husband since an American doesn’t know how strict filipino hotels are. But seriously, he didn’t insist on asking for it back/only got one card back when he showed have gotten 3 cards and they didn’t swim long enough for the pool boy to know that there’s 3 of them as everyone is counted. So beware and make sure you get that towel card back. My husband is a Marriott lifetime titanium member and this is the first time he has encountered such a scam. We ended up paying for the towels as the hotel stay didn’t seem to care at all and we don’t wanted to waste anymore time when clearly you can see that there’s no customer service or care whatsoever. Bottom line stay away from local hotel chains if possible, sad but true when in the Philippines

I visited Hennan Tawala twice this year and both of them were awesome. I went there with my husband first and then with my family, so I experienced different kinds of rooms. All the rooms there were super comfortable and clean. If the budget is enough to book the room with pool access or Deluxe premiere, I would like to recommend it. It’s so comfortable to swim or chill all day and the view is great! I want to visit Tawala again with my friends, too!
It takes 3-5 minutes to walk to the beach, but there is a driving service to get there. The pools in front of Alona beach are not permitted, but the pool in Tawala was still good and quiet. Actually, the pool bar and water in tawala was cleaner and not crowded. Also, the location is better at night to enjoy. There were many stores, restaurants and cafes nearby.
The dining they served us was super delicious, so we loved to order in our room and eat. Also the buffet in the morning was good. The staff here were so friendly and kind, so we could stay there comfortably.
Thank you, Hennan Tawala Resort, for making our trip memorable! I hope to see you all again! 🙋🏻♀️

Lovely hotel close to Alona Beach (just a 5 min walk through the Alona Beach hotel)
Large rooms overlooking the pool area, cleaned everyday to a high standard. Plenty of choice at breakfast and also reasonable food and drinks at the pool bar.
Front desk were not the friendliest and would not accept my booking made with Agoda as it did not have my middle name stated on it (first time in 40 + years of travelling have experienced this) even though i had my passport the credit card it was booked with and of course my agoda voucher and receipt. After a 15 minute call to agoda they sent an updated voucher to the hotel that included my middle name ! Booked transport back to the Airport with the front desk which they did not arrange resulting in a frantic last minute rush to check in for the flight due to the 50 minute delay !

Booked a last minute trip to Panglao and this hotel was the only "decent" one available for a next day trip.
Here are some of our experiences:
A. Water Pressure Low B. Toilet papers as rough as a sand paper C. Asked the F&B manager to pack our breakfast as we were leaving as early as 540 AM to go on an island hopping tour the next day, his response was no and says that their experience with guests packing their own food was end up taking so much, I reiterated that they pack the food, could be a snack, a sandwich, or a full on English breakfast for all I care. Again, says no, and now says a different excuse not to pack the food. And says they can open the buffet 10 mins before we leave which is at 530 AM.
For a resort to offer tours that early, dont think they planned them out with their guests convenience and retention. They'd rather have you choke on your food and burn your tongue with hot coffee or just get hungry.
Not everything was bad though! Most of their crew were amazing and goes beyond their scope of work to make sure that you enjoy your stay.
If you come and stay, don't forget to get a drink at their beach bar and look for "Sean" their female bar manager for an amazing Alona beach experience!
