You get your money's worth for a budget-friendly accommodation. Room was clean and vibrant. Aircon takes some time to cool in our room but we had a comfortable stay after all. They have common cr for everyone and a pantry too in which you can use their kitchen utensils but make sure to clean it after. Front Desk personnel gave us a quick briefing before proceeding to our room to make sure everything is alright. It is simply located along the road and walking distance to the beach. Their may be some bars and restaurants infront so expect some noise at night. The staff and the owner are good and very helpful. In fact, they managed to arranged an airport transfer for us even though we advised them at night already and we need to catch up an early morning flight the next day. .

Citadel's location is just perfect. It is right along the bustling street of Alona in Bohol and just across the pathway to the white sand beach of Panglao.

Though at the heart of the city, it is still quiet and comfortable inside. Very homey and well-maintained. There are also many other things it offers, such as pretty artworks on the walls and a lovely veranda where one can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.

Citadel is also very affordable. I bookmarked it for future recommendations.

Citadel is a breath of fresh air amidst the bustling stretch of Alona in Bohol. While it is conveniently located at the heart of Alona, it nevertheless offers the serenity and peace that only a home can give.

I was welcomed by a pretty facade of the inn but what really caught my attention was the artsy design of the reception area. It then led to a homey living room with a giant, comfortable sofa and bright lighting which easily lightens the mood.

For young professionals like me who are used to a fast-paced life in a city, I can vouch for Citadel which kept true to its mantra - to be your "home away from home".

Citadel is also surprisingly very affordable. It is a great choice for backpackers and youngsters who want to make the most of their Bohol experience without spending too much for accommodation. But don't be fooled by the price, it doesn't risk quality at all. In fact, there are many other amenities which come with the accommodation - free parking, a well-maintained garden, and a veranda overlooking the busy street of Alona, to name a few.

I already recommended Citadel to family, friends, and colleagues. And I'm definitely coming back.

I stayed 4 night in beautiful place down the road, at the crossing. Rooms set in tropical garden, huge private room, tv, great internet (no restrictions), private hot shower, daily free clean towels, soap, daily room service for the same money as this hole. The rooms are tiny, depressing, extra charge for a/c, no towel (extra 50php!), no soap, one shower (it actually didn't work, bucket was provided) for entire floor of 10 rooms. Do not get fooled by the downstairs pretty reception. Avoid! Better places to stay. Walk away.

Response from Eping, Owner at Citadel Alona Inn
Responded Aug 30, 2017
Thanks for your review. Please accept our apologies for the problems you experienced. June 2017 was an exceptionally difficult month in Bohol with many power-cuts caused by a serious earthquake in the neighboring island of Leyte. Mains electricity is essential for us at Citadel Alona Inn for pumping water so power cuts are a problem. Following the return of reliable electricity supply in July and as part of our Low Season maintenance program, we have totally rehabilitated the water supply system in the main building, so all now works well. We offer all our rooms with either wall fans or with AC at two different rates so guests so guests can choose. During July-September Low Season every year, we also offer additional discounts. As we are operating in a beach resort area and essentially providing budget accommodation, most of our guests already have towels with them. By offering towels and soap as extras, we reduce waste water production thereby helping in environment protection efforts. Thanks again for your comments. Guest feedback is always greatly valued by us.

Decent guest house for back packers. The room and shower place is fairly clean. Didn't really need air con because it's cool at night. The staffs are nice and friendly, but I'd suggest that they could be a bit more informative and hospitable upon each guest's arrival, so guests don't have to figure out everything by themselves.

The place is along the main road. Very cozy and clean place. The staff are really courteous and nice. They are always there to assist you. The place is well maintained and very clean even the shower rooms and restrooms. This a home away from home. You can be assured that the place is safe. The place have a nice a receiving hall, dining hall and very clean kitchen where you can cook your foods.

We stayed at the start of low season and had none of the problems mentioned. The room and bathrooms are very clean and well-furnished. The curtains could be a little darker and the bedlinen is pure polyester, but the price is low (for Alona Beach) so you can't complain.

Its near to the Alona beach. The rooms are facing the road so you will hear the motorcycle noise. The rooms are very good, clean and organised. They have an excellent sitting area on the 2nd floor so you can sit there and watch the day;'s activities while having breakfast. The wifi will switch off at 9pm so be sure to use it beforethen. It is a pension house so you will see the owners in a seperate part of the house. They are old people so will sleep early. That is the reason why they limit the noise and party to 9-10pm in the house so that it will not affect the other visitors and them. It is a good idea as I could have good sleep without hearing people laughter....

This place was disappointing, it's nice to see how this place decides to cash in on their lonely planet listing. With the book just being published in May the room prices have gone up 200php.

It sounded a lot better on paper. When we arrived we where greeted by 3 young women who happily wanted to accommodate us but wanted to charge us for an extra bed. But clearly on the price sheet this wasn't required. But after asking many times to talk to the owner this was then rectified. I do think it was a bit rich to charge 50php for a towel! I would have thought this would included since they are obviously targeting the market above backpacker budget but it seems not!

Also providing plastic sheets on the beds was a bit interesting. I have never had plastic sheets on a bed before I thought these where reserved for use on a table. This provided a difficult night of sleep with the plastic instantly sticking to our skin.

I'm sure this isn't the only place to stay in Alona Beach, maybe check your options first!

The location is clearly described on the TripAdvisor Listing. Have you read it? Alona Beach is not good for swimming. Best are the White Sand Beach Stretch from Dumalaun thru Libaong. Dumalaun has entry fee. Libaong is free.
